I usually don't post reviews but this restaurant deserves the five stars. Had a great experience with all the staff. Our waitress, Jeanie, who is relatively new at the restaurant, was very professional, friendly and could answer all questions regarding the menu. The steelhead in caramelized sugar was so tasty and I would definitely recommend. The filet was prepared as requested and was delicious. On top of this, the restaurant brings ravioli and an anti pasta plate with fresh bread while the meal is being prepared. The ravioli was very good. Also included in your meal is soup and house salad. All were tasty and prepared with perfection. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant and sure wish I lived near enough to be a frequent visitor. Hats off to the chef! read more

Horrible, the pieces were all here and they tried. The antipasto was pathetic, 2 pieces of salami,two cubes of two cheeses, celery and mini carrots with peppers, pass, tiny loaves of tasteless white bread and cold butter. The complimentary ravioli was bland. The salad tasteless and salad dressings unremarkable.our entrees were great sounding and disgusting puréed mashed potatoes, meatloaf with bbq glaze like dog food. Finished! Too pricy for such food. My table makes had the 12oz rib eye steak and beef Wellington. Equally bad refund pls all around! Overrated! Will not return! read more

Fantastic spot. The place you'll see multiple tables on a Friday with 3-4 generations of family enjoying a meal. Pro service, a rare find this far north in California. Warm bread, finger snacks and an extensive bar menu to start. Easily the best fish and chips I've ever had. Halibut beer bartered and fried to perfection. Not greasy. Flakey, white fish inside. Crazy good steak fries that stay delicious the entire meal. Also tried the filet which was divine. To the last bite. I'd skip the Mac and cheese and get the steak fries. Highly recommend and make reservations on the weekends. read more

Mediocre food for outrageous prices Service was wonderful and we always tip our servers well regardless of food, but I wouldn't like to come back. 1. Clam Chowder was watery and unseasoned 2. Cheese plate was a joke. 6 or so cubes of cheddar/Swiss, some baby carrots, and old celery. No even the good pieces of celery, the inner white pieces like... why? 3. Ravioli was fine but a weird thing to share with the table 4. Only 1/3 of our salads came dressed. The other two were completely naked. 5. The 2 Ribeyes were... just ok. Idk how someone can take a ribeye and make it just.. meh. It wasn't the best cut ever, but it also wasn't the worst. My partner and I both agreed we make better steaks at home with discount cuts from the supermarket. It was like they were taken right from the fridge and pan fried dry with nothing but some salt. Definitely not worth $36 a piece. 6. Our pescatarian friend enjoyed their meal of salmon and Mac and cheese. I had a bite of the salmon and it was deliciously seasoned, but also extremely greasy and obviously from frozen salmon filets. It's not a horrible place to eat, it's just also not very great for the price. The weird "for the table" appetizers were so low quality and basic and added nothing to the quality of the meal. If a group of people insist we go again, I won't protest too much, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it. read more

Start with the servers, beyond the best servers we have ever had! Now let's all about the food, it was a birthday dinner that far exceeded the expectations! Ravioli were quite the surprise, bread and veggie tray was nicely put together and so fresh, beef vegetable soup tasted better than grandmas cooking, followed by a nice fresh green salad. Now the main courses!! Chicken bacon mushroom fettuccine, chicken cordon blu, prime rib with garlic mashed potatoes was cooked perfectly, flavors were spot on, I would have to say the chef clearly is no amateur at preparing food. Ah, really good. Happy Hour from 4-5 so lots of locals ensconced in the bar. We ordered onion rings that were tasty but greasy. The crabcakes were good and no bready. Avoid the yucky looking and tasteless yellow goop and go for fresh lemons. I ordered veggie pot pie that eased rich and filled with mushrooms, celery, carrots and potatoes. Great crust. My buddy ordered steelhead trout but out came salmon, a disconnect. He said it was good, just not a trout! We ended with chocolate tort, rich and good. Atmosphere was comfortable. read more

My husband took his hat off and set it on an empty chair at our table. He forgot it when we left. He called the next morning before they opened. They don't have it. It was not overly busy but it took way to long to take my drink order and my dinner order, I had the ribeye steak and salad and veggies, medium rare. The salad was good and the steak took 45 minutes to get to my table and was nothing special. I had a surprise for my daughters 40th B/D. I had the fried prawns & the batter was under cooked. I had to ask for water a few times. We weren't served our anti pesto & we had to ask for bread after we ate our soup & salad. My daughter had 3 soups for take home & after we got home had 2. Two people didn't get their side that came with their meal either which they both ordered carrots. A few of the people wanted there own tab for alcohol & $60 worth of alcohol was on my receipt that the waitress was going to take off & didn't. Best meal we've had in a long time! I'm disappointed we have never been here before! We were surprised when we were brought cheese raviolis, bread and butter, and a salami and cheese plate for a complementary appetizer! Ribeye and chicken bacon (I added shrimp) fettuccine entrees were delicious, juicy, and flavorful !! Entrees came with soup & salad. We had the best clam chowder ever - we got some to go even!! Very good dinner and great service. My son and I just got back from Homer Alaska and ate at a very similar restaurant, similar name. It required reservations to eat there. Very popular. The big difference was that there was a charge for every side dish, at double "D". The meal included everything, appetizer, Salad, Soup and bread. Awesome steaks, we sat in the bar and where served immediately. Tons of food. Wasn't a fan of the apple vingarette but salad came with it so I tried one I never had before. beef soup- yummy. We came here in a Thursday evening around 6:15 after a exhausting day of moving. First time guests. Kelly served us and was pleasant and attentive. I ordered the 16 oz ribeye, medium and it was Devine and enough for my husband and I to share. They oddly served salami, cheese, peppercini and carrots and celery sticks with every meal. Also a yummy hot bread. Included in the $34 price is a large bowl of vegetable beef soup. We also had salad, and baked potato with sour cream. The beat steak I had in ages. This place is terrible. We asked for steaks cooked medium-well, and they all came very rare. This was after we waited over an hour for our food. Several others got their food quicker, and had come & gone by the time we got our food. My Mother In-Law's steak was cooked tough as well, and re-cooked just as poorly the second go-around. When we expressed our dissatisfaction, the manager argued with us belligerently about what we ate and didn't eat. This is ridiculous, and we ended up paying $75 for a terrible experience. Typically when a meal is poorly cooked twice over an inordinate amount of time, the whole meal is free. read more

This was our 3rd time visiting here, the last time over a year ago (that visit was a 5 star). Wow what a disappointment. 1. Our waitress was running around frantically like it was a packed house, it was not. She didn't let us know there was a special. She was not actively listening. 2. Ordered 1 prime rib and 1 ribeye. Waitress comes out with 2 prime ribs and states oh sorry I know you ordered ribeye but they sent our prime rib, I hope that's ok, does it look ok? Not even offering to correct the order. We were hungry and kind of taken a back at her minimal service attitude so just said ok to the prime rib. 3. Prime rib was ordered medium rare- they were both grey on the outsides and pink in the center. Fat didn't taste fresh. The 8oz cut was thin and floppy. Yuck. We ate here for a first visit. And it was wonderful. The seafood and the presentation was outstanding. The staff was very attentive along with offering suggestions on pairings which was very helpful and appreciated. I asked for my meal to be prepared a certain way and they were right on the money. The sirloins that the others had was as they said "perfectly done as usual. I feel that whoever owns this place should be proud of what they have accomplished. Absolutely horrible food. Halibut was dry, filet was tough and the mashed potatoes were absolutely disgusting. Food was luke warm. Cocktails are ridiculously expensive and gross! Would've been better off with a shot. Best thing we had was the ranch on the salad. Took us over an hour and a half to receive our food. Really upset that I had to pay $120 for something I wouldn't feed to my dog. For being a steak house you might want to learn how to cook a damn filet and make some half decent mashed potatoes. 0/10 would not recommend anyone waste their money eating there. read more

Absolutely delicious. This place knows steaks and for this county that can be hard to find. We went as a group and each ordered 4 different steaks to see the best options and they were all wonderful! All of our steaks were cooked perfectly to temperature as well. Don't get the cheese sticks as an appetizer, not very good. We had a beef stew and salad before the meal and both were super well prepared. It's a simple place but they really execute a steak beautifully. A typical Humboldt Co mediocre restaurant. Too much food, too expensive for quality of food, too many low class people eating there. The restaurant was full of hat wearing, grower/blue collar yahoos out for a "high class" dinner. ie-$42 t-bone steak dinner. I ordered the 12 oz prime rib, $29. By the time my thin and extra salty meal arrived, I was full. I had filled up on the white bread loaf, antipasto plate, store bought raviolis, soup and salad which had preceded my meal. My preference would have been less pre meal food for a cheaper price. Big big bummer. Will not return and will not recommend. read more

We stopped in for a dinner on Friday night. We were able to get right in at 6:00pm, but there was a waiting line shortly after that. This feels like a local spot with a good following. We enjoyed the timely delivery of our courses of food. Especially good was the clam chowder and the fresh halibut. The prime rib was so-so, but a lot of people around us were enjoying their steaks. You get a lot of good food and you should not go away hungry. They also have a nice selection of cocktails. I would go back---I would rate it 3 1/2 stars, but it would have been 4 if the prime rib was as good as the halibut. read more

Our party was in the mood for a good steak and on our way to Eureka we decided to stop by the double D. Prices seemed on par with a steakhouse but what we didn't realize was everything that came with our meals. First was an antipasto plate then a fresh loaf of bread that was pretty good. Next was the ravioli which I wasn't sure why they give it since it wasn't that great but I was starving so I ate it haha. Next was the beef broth and like the ravioli it wasn't anything great for them to offer it. The salad was fresh and I just wish they offered Italian dressing. I ordered the ribeye and the waitress said the chef cooked more on the rare side so I went with medium and I ordered the mac and cheese also. The steak was slightly over seasoned for my taste and it was cooked more on the well side of medium. The actual cut of ribeye was very well marbled and tasted good other than the extra seasoning. The mac and cheese and the bacon on top was incredibly delicious and would come back just for that! Overall everyone enjoyed the meal and would definitely come back if I'm in the area. read more

Place gets super packed so get reservations. You have been warned. You get a ton of food for moderate prices. From Steaks to Crab cakes the place is great! The bar in the back gets pretty packed but fast service. Be sure to get their early if you dont have a reservation. Get the crab cakes and split a dinner. the dinners are 5 course with antipasta, bread, salad, soup, plus your dinner. The calm chowder is loaded with clams which is rare. We go for the bar, and because James is legit the best bartender ever. The drink prices are ok, the appetizers are a little pricey, and the food is pretty pricey too.. but you won't find a more "Cheers" style environment, which makes it so worth it. The food is exceptionally good and the prices are as well for the quality! Waitstaff was excellent on a busy night! The reason for the poor rating was management and staff let one party take over the entire restaurant with rounds of shots and by the sixth toast they are yelling at the top of their lungs my family was unable to enjoy our meal and talk to one another and actually hear each other. Management should of asked them to move to the bar area since they were so disruptive and were done eating! It's a shame when we spent at least $150 on our meals having been a server for years you can't allow that to happen when theirs several other tables of paying customers! read more

Bartender gave me a martini with too much vermouth and no olive juice. Twice! Ravioli tasted like it could have been Chef Boyardi. Salad was as plain as store bought Prawns were almost undercooked Tbone ordered medium rare was well done to the point of the fat being hard and crunchy. Swimming in garlic butter and pepper. I sent it back asking for no butter and less seasoning My second steak was cooked properly but still covered in butter and pepper. Green beans tasted limp and dry at the same time. A friend has been raving about Double D Steakhouse so since the husband and I were heading south around dinner time we finally were able to give them a shot. We ordered drinks--my husband had a delicious Deloach Zin and I had my usual grey goose. We both laughed a bit at the wine glass which was a light green in color. Unfortunately, that makes the wine look brown. We are wine snobs, I will admit, but the green plus the small size of the glass can affect how the wine is enjoyed. We didn't order any appetizers since the menu shows how much you get with your dinner. I ordered the filet, medium rare and he ordered Steak Oscar, which is a filet with crab on top. It also had a sauce which he very much enjoyed. I always worry about steaks coming the way I ask and it did. The negative on the plate was both of our vegetables. His came with asparagus which were super crunchy. I picked the vegetable instead of a starch for my side and it was brussel sprouts. They were steamed with parmesan on top. No flavor here either. I had to add S&P. Backing up here a bit--the meal started off with a small loaf of bread delivered on a board with a knife. The bread was good, warm and nice and soft. We also received an antipasto plate which had 2 celery sticks, 2 carrot sticks, 4 little squares of cheese (cheddar and swiss), 4 slices of salami and 2 little pepperoncinis. Next they brought some raviolis to share. We were both very underwhelmed with these. They were cheese, but really quite flavorless and the marinara lacked any real flavor and seemed to me like it came out of a jar. These actually reminded me of the frozen raviolis you can get in the little frozen meals. We didn't finish them. The dinner includes soup and salad. The soup was a brothy beef vegetable. Nothing extra great about it. The salad was fresh and good. Everything came out pretty quick and our server was friendly. The staff seems to get along well--which I could determine from our close proximity to the wait station. One thing that I found didn't add to our experience was the choice of music. It was like 70's and 80's hits (like Aerosmith, Abba and Queen.) Don't get me wrong, I like that music but it would be better in the bar but not the dining room. The prices were very reasonable for steak dinners. I think my filet was $30. Our total bill before tip was $86. read more

No reservations unless 6 people, so showed up at 8:15 Seated promptly by attentive staff. Dinner coarses were presented in a timely manner. Food was pretty good. I had stuffed sole. It seems that owners are trying to recreate something of the old Parlatos restaurant that occupied this building for decades. ( plate of ravioli, soup and salad, ect) Which was a full dinner, not the al cart shake down of recent interlopers to this building. Prices reasonable. Menu is diversified to accomodate non beef eaters with fish, chicken and pasta. Vegans might want to call for specifics. These local folks need our patronage while they fine tune their operation. read more
