This is the best restaurant, not only in Fortuna, but also Eureka, McKinleyville, Rio Dell, Garberville, etc. I wait all year to come around Christmas just to see the most beautiful Christmas trees and decorations. It's so cozy and happy, like having dinner in a Christmas wonderland. Tonight it was packed; my husband and I didn't make reservations and still they squeezed us in. I got to enjoy what I long for all year. The food was, as always a 10 out of 10. Shout out to the amazing chef who made the shrimp fettuccine Alfredo. Another shout out to Alexis, who brought us a mini loaf of the most delicious brioche bread that comes with the dinner; because what we ordered didn't include the bread we asked if we could have it and she made it happen. Our family, a party of 12 went to eat here after our son and his girlfriend had graduated from Nursing school. First, I was taken back a little when they said what the name of the restaurant was. lol. I thought that they were taking me to a strip club. No, No, No... this was a legit, high class establishment! They sat us all together in the bar area. Which I was so happy that they did, because it turned out to be a very chilled, easy going experience. We had thee nicest server that you could ask for. Get this.... she was even working with an injured foot!! However, that didn't stop her from scurrying around the place and providing top notch service to our large group! She had been working there for years and years, but it was evident that she LOVED her job. We bantered back and forth, as we joked and teased each other. Now this is the exciting part: I ordered the 36 ounce ribeye steak and it was out of this world!! They nailed it. Without any exaggeration, that steak was thee best steak I have ever had. I'm talking about Double D outdoing places like Ruth Kris Steakhouse!! It was that good and it was grilled to perfection! I was in "steak heaven". I mean it was PERFECT!! The cost was extremely reasonable as well. It was worth every penny that it cost!! The steak was the thickest steak I have ever eaten. My wife said that it looked more like a chuck roast than it did a ribeye steak. Okay, I'm getting hungry just thinking about that steak. And I am serious. The bummer part is that I'm in Maui right now, so I can't get there to eat again. So.... Dining area is separate which is nice and separate from eating and listening to singing ing. First off, what you get for your buck is mind blowing amazing!!! Unlike other steakhouses that a la carte you to death, we received as part of our dish...homemade bread, ravioli, antipasti, salad AND a soup! My wife doesn't do soup so I had their pozole and chicken bean. Both were exceptional. Around the table were filets, prime rib special, seafood pasta and blue cheese NY strip. All cooked perfectly- my steak was probably the worst main - tasty but a little tough so I'd avoid that. I had a taste of my daughter's Mac and Cheese, super tasty. We loved Double D Steak so much that we planned our Anniversary trip around it. My partner is a teacher so she rarely has time off to enjoy a trip, we postponed our anniversary celebration for her spring break and yes, we planned the trip around what was our favorite restaurant. The restaurant is still just as we remembered it, drinks were amazing the raspberry sherbet, the in house croutons, baked bread, ravioli from the other local place, everything was amazing until we got our entrees. My partner ordered the ribeye medium, I ordered the Oscar Filet medium rare. We each cut the steaks in the center to check before enjoying. Hers was a beautiful medium rare, and she was fine with that, but mine... My filet was medium-well, just the smallest hint of pink in the center.... I figured I'd eat it, one bite and it was so dry... The waitress asked us how our food was and noticed the steak, she said "that's not medium rare" I replied "I didn't want to say anything because I don't want to piss off the cooks", she said "I'm a steak gal, don't worry we'll get it right this time." We could hear the argument. The cook argued with her what medium rare was. The other waitresses heard it and went to investigate, all of them explained to him the difference, he made a new one, I cut it open and it was literally flame kissed, I said it's ok I don't mind a little rare, took a bite, it was still cold inside, not warm, literally cold, I couldn't believe it, I sent it back, we paid our bill and left. I was ready to walk back and show the kid how to cook now that he had wasted not one but 2 big beautiful filets. We ended our anniversary night eating at a restaurant where the cooks know what they're doing, Taco Bell. Thank you for the experience... Everything was amazing until whoever was cooking at 5:40PM APRIL 23RD 2025 ruined our entire night. Pictures to follow. The soup and salad combo was an excellent choice. The clam chowder was delicious full of clams, bacon celery and potatoes. I was served a small loaf of fresh bread. The owner states she makes over 70 of them. I had the prawns appetizer was also excellent. The last item I had was a small with champagne vinaigrette. Double D Steak is a homy restaurant in Fortuna. The decor was very rural and steak-house feel, warm and welcoming. We celebrated the New Year Eve there. We ordered the Wild Pacific Halibut, and split the 12 oz Grilled Prime Rib special. It came w/ interesting raviolis, cold plate, salads and house special chicken veggie soups. First impressions; the restaurant was cute, your typical country club vibe. The service on the other hand, was really horrible. There were only two tables in the dining room that were being used mind you; my wife, and I. And a small family next to us. Our waitress even left the jar of water on our table saying "I'll just leave the water right here just in case I'm not around" and boy oh boy was she not around, but at least she was having a good time in the kitchen because we could hear her laughing the whole time. The food looked good, but was very bland unfortunately, the soup tasted like hot water with meat and bell peppers. The star of the show was the steak, (thank god the steak house didn't mess that up!) Best steak my husband has eaten in years. Comparable to Ruth's Chris in San Francisco. Homemade Berry Cobbler with berries picked by the owner. We got the last serving! It was amazing. Delicious as always. Great ribeye, and a good sized piece of halibut. The halibut looked on the smallish side at first but my hubby quickly realized it was very thick and deliciously pan seared. The poster shooters were delicious and the sauce had a definite kick so beware and ask for mild if you don't like the heat. My virgin blueberry mojito was great and very refreshing - not sweet at all. Our desserts were great as well, and the service was perfect as always. The ONLY complaint I ever have is the noise level. It really would be nice if they could somehow mute the noise but I think its the nature of the setting. Regardless- we love it and will keep going back. It is a terrific deal they bring you soup salad antipasto, ravioli and then the meal. The prime rib servings were huge and terrific. Everything else was as well. My wife and I were in Eureka this week to visit our son for his birthday. We asked him where he wanted to have dinner to celebrate and he said Double D. I checked the reviews on Yelp and they aren't super consistent, so I was a little worried about what to expect. The good news is we were pleasantly surprised by the food, drink, and service we received. I had made a reservation earlier in the day and let them know we were celebrating a birthday. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly and directed to a table. Our server quickly brought menus, a small loaf of bread, and antipasto. Nice start! We ordered drinks (Cadillac margaritas and some sort of peach vodka ice tea thing) which were very good. So good we ordered another round after a little while. My wife and I ordered the vegan veggie pot pies, which were really, really good. (Kudos to Double D for offering a REAL vegan option -- not just steamed broccoli or a sprig of parsley!) My son got the blue cheese New York strip and his girlfriend got chicken parmesan fettuccini. We also ordered a basket of fries and grilled shrimp on a skewer for the table. There was a LOT of food, and it was all very tasty. My son and his girlfriend also got soup and salad, which is included in the price of the entrees. My wife and I were also offered soup and salad but we skipped them. (I'm glad we did so we could focus on our pot pies!) Long story short, I'm giving Double D a 4.5. Food and drinks were really good, and service was really friendly and efficient. And the icing on the cake was at the very end when our server brought out a bowl of ice cream with a candle on it, then led us in a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday. Small town feel and service! We were staying at the local casino hotel recently and decided to skip the hotel food and find something local. Double D had solid reviews and was very close by so we gave it a shot. All in all, we were pleased with our choice. We couldn't get a dinner reservation in the restaurant so we sat in the bar. Our server was personable and efficient. Since we were in bar, the ambience was somewhere between biker bar and local watering hole. The server explained that they include a small antipasto, 3 cheese ravioli, bread and soup and salad with all the dinners. We kept that in mind and didn't order appetizers. I'm glad we didn't, since we had way too much food. We decided to split a 16 oz ribeye and added grilled prawns. The steak came with a choice of baker, fries, mac and cheese or tots. We had steak fries and added a side of mac and cheese. The house bread is baked fresh. The soup was chicken noodle, obviously homemade and nicely seasoned. I loved the champagne vinaigrette. We ordered our steak medium rare. It came out pretty much raw. However that was quickly corrected and our steak was delicious. The shrimp were juicy and perfectly cooked. All in all a great meal. I don't know what has happened here but the last 3 times I've ate here has been worse every time. Over priced and don't know how to cook. Ordered 16 oz ribeye got a 12 oz overcooked ribeye. Asked for medium rare got well and a baked potato a little bigger than a golf ball. Waited 1 1/2 hours finally got my salad. Flavorless beef vegetable soup.
