Brewpubs are about as good as it gets when dining with my boys and this one gets high marks all around. Mr. K got his beer itch scratched, my boys enjoyed the pizza and I liked the whole package. Double Mountain has been on my list for awhile, but it is usually crowded. So on our earlier trips we didn't wait for a table and went to a different brewpub or restaurant in town which wasn't nearly as fun. So be prepared to squeeze in and count yourself lucky if you can grab a table in the Taproom or on the front patio when the weather is nice. The other half of the space appears to be more of an open-air lounge for large groups. The pizza is thin-crust and charred. You can ask for less charring if that's not your thing and I did this for the boys' pizza. Mr. K and I shared the sausage, mushroom and onion pizza and were pleasantly surprised by the tangy sauce. The spinach salad was also excellent. Everything about Double Mountain is simple, casual and friendly. You place your order and pay at the bar. If you want a soda or juice, grab it from the cooler on the side wall. While plenty of people stayed to eat and drink, they were also doing a brisk business with folks grabbing growlers (64 oz.) to go. They have four year round beers and a handful of seasonal offerings. Double Mountain Brewery is a great hip lil brew pub with tasty pizzas in Hood River. It can get crowded. We arrived for lunch and we split a salami arugula pizza and the spicy jersey with mama Lils peppers! The pizza had a perfect char and chewy crust, (I feel like it needs more Sauce but I'm always ordering extra sauce.;) For beers it is IPA land, so many choices of hop versions. Next up here is the Sours, I really enjoyed their Devil's Cherry Kriek, so dang tasty, I even had to purchase a few bottles to bring home as I have been on a sour kick! 3.5 stars, but I'll round up since my pizza was pretty enjoyable and I didn't need to wait 45+ minutes for a table. This was my first time to Hood River and it was so busy. Memorial Day weekend = long lines pretty much everywhere. My boyfriend and I visited Full Sail Brewery and the wait was too long. After that, we went to a sushi/burger place that had weird service and a lengthy wait. Finally, we came here, put our name on a waiting list and got a text shortly after (20-ish minutes) telling us that our table was ready. Service was slow which was kind of a bummer, though expected I suppose. I got a seasonal beer with a malty, smooth taste which was so delicious! haven't seen Double Mountain Brewery in Portland, but I'd love to get my hands on more of their beers. For lunch, I ordered the Truffle Shuffle pizza, which came with mozzarella, goat cheese, portabella mushrooms marinated in truffle oil on top of a white pizza with green onions on the top. The waitress asked if I'd like to add meat, as most people choose to do that. I asked her how much it would cost and she looked baffled that I asked (I guess I'm stingy). I don't think that she ended up charging me for it though; lucky accident! I chose pepperoni, though I think that sausage or chicken would have complimented the ingredients better. Pizza is inherently awesome, but I enjoyed the quality of ingredients here. All the toppings worked well together and I thought $13 for a small pizza was very reasonable. I'm a big eater, but I was full after eating half of my dish. I'd say that my favorite aspect of this dish was the marinated mushrooms that burst with earthy, rich truffle oil, though I wish the serving was more liberal! My boyfriend ordered the Jersey Sub. I had a bite and though it was okay; I think this place is really more of a pizza joint. I also wish they had fries with their sandwiches. Personal gripe of mine. All in all, however, I was satisfied with my meal on my day trip to Hood River. I'll definitely try to find their beer in Portland too! read more

This was our second visit in as many years and pleased to report that we were equally impressed the second time around. We were able to be seated immediately. Service was ultra-fast and friendly. Highly recommend the Devil's Kriek beer and we absolutely loved the thin crust double cheese, double sausage pizza. Yum! This place had excellent food. I had a personal pizza. I had the truffle shuffle. The pizza had truffle portabella mushrooms and onions on it. It was very delicious. The crust on the pizza was perfect and not too thick. The size of the personal size was also huge! Because the crust was thin, it is definitely possible to eat the whole thing :). The beer here was also really good. I had the green neck lager which was a very tasty summer beer. I also sampled the peach beer which was excellent. Let's see -- they have outstanding brews, excellent pizza, and now a system of COVID protocols that allow customers to request seating and eating at a safe distance from others. I have not been eating out in many places since the pandemic arrived, and I felt completely comfortable at Double Mountain. There was a short wait for an outside table, my server was excellent, the olive appetizer arrived very promptly, the margarita pizza was outstanding -- perfectly cooked with a chewy crust and fresh ingredients, and the two types of ales I tasted were perfect. Although I don't have some juicy delicious photo of the white sauce pizza I had, just wanted to give some huge kudos to the two staff I delt with. Very rare I actually listen to the recommendations from staff when I go out to dine because I just assume they are recommending the most expensive thing on the menu (usually are) but here, I showed up after being at the beach all day, super hungry and just started asking them to add pepperonis, olives, mushrooms etc... well the girl who took my order kindly gave me some feedback that the combination of stuff I picked was just too complicated and would not go well with the truffle shuffle sauce - saved me probably a fiver by doing so - and the za I received was top notch 10/10. Great pizza & great beer! What else could you ask for? I'm knocking off one star because I didn't understand the seating system, nor was it explained when we arrived. We were told it was a half-hour wait time but we could see open tables all around, as well as open bar seating but it wasn't offered to us. We asked about it, and the server/host responded with a tone as if we should already know that those seats are up for grabs. One comes to Portland knowing that you will find really great beer. Heck even the surrounding areas will find you really great beer. Double Mountain is one such place in a state that has more breweries and brew pubs per square mile than anywhere else in the country. Throw a stone and you will find something good to drink. Hood River is a quiet, little town with all sorts of shops, restaurants and an art gallery, but I wanted a beer. Got here yesterday and didn't have the opportunity and so this was the first brewery we saw and so that's where we ended up. This is a nice little spot that offers up tours on Saturday afternoons but being this was Friday afternoon we just came in for a tasty beverage. The brother and I went for the darkest beer they had on tap, a brown ale called Ramble On 5.2%ABV. They had many ale choices including Hop Lava, a strong IPA, a Kolsch, The Vaporizer which is a dry hopped ale, and India Red, and one called Clusterf#ck which was a single hopped ale. All great choices I'm sure, but the brown ale truly hit the spot. A very well balanced beer that was full of flavor. I'm a dark beer guy, and so the darker the better, and this was a great one to have. I can't wait to try more beer on this trip. After spending an hour or so over at Multnomah Falls, this was a good place to stop off at and relax. It looks like local musicians come in and perform there so that's gotta be a great option for the weekends. read more

Went to DMB for the first time today. It was an amazing experience. We had the truffle shuffle pie and it was one of the best pizzas I've ever had! Our kids also loved their pepperoni pizza. This placed used to be our go-to. We're over it. Service has gone downhill over the past few years (pre, during, and post COVID). Plus, we've noticed that service sometimes comes with attitude. We still pop in every now and then, but we generally regret it. Solstice, Full Sail, Lake Taco, among others, are all better choices, in my humble. It's a shame. read more

The Caprese salad or starter wasn't what I expected, but I didn't read the description on the menu - I just expected it to be sliced tomatoes with mozzarella and basil. While on a solo trip to Oregon, I had an opportunity to stop by the little town of Hood River. I had seen Portland and the surrounding area had lots of pizza and brewery type places, so I came by here for lunch! Double Mountain houses a nice environment for both locals and travels to sit down, have a beer, and a pizza to go along with it. I ended up getting the Jersey style pizza (because I'm from NJ), and was happily satisfied with the balanced taste of flavors (both spicy and non-spicy) for the pizza not being from the East Coast. The food came out promptly from the 700-degree oven, and I ate it promptly thereafter. Overall, if you're looking for a quick bite to eat while on the way to Mt. Hood, come here! read more

However, this time we didn't want to fight the Sunday afternoon crowds and my friend had her dog with us, so we had to find a dog-friendly patio. First we tried Full Sail but struck out - so then we tried Double Mountain. We were quoted a 45 minute wait, but received the text in only 20! We sat outside and the weather was perfect. I got the Pear cider and it was SO GOOD - not too sweet! I also got a pizza. Normally I am not a fan of pizza since I hate the burnt edges and thin crust, but I saw that you can request "less char" on the crust, so I decided to give it a try. Good choice! Excellent selection of well crafted beers, but the ciders were clearly the standout. The barkeep was great about handing out small samples, probably because it's so hard to choose. The flight of 5 4-oz tasters is an excellent way to go! The wood fired pizza special was interesting (a big plus in my foodie book), prepared with fresh local ingredients and baked to the perfect char. The menu is not extensive. We got here about 20 minutes before closing time. To be fair this is a little late but we just wanted to have one beer and skedaddle! Waitress was incredibly rude right off the bat. She told us we needed to order immediately but one member of our group was in the bathroom. We ordered our beers. One of our friends tried to order whiskey and she said "No we don't have that. This is a brewery." We all started laughing because we were shocked that she actually said that! She brought our beers out and spilled quite a bit on the table while doing so haha. Then she automatically added an 18% tip to our bill even though there were only 5 of us that ordered anything. She was so mean i don't think we would have tipped her.
