The Hilton Milwaukee is a recently renovated hotel in a historic building near downtown Milwaukee that I recently stayed at. The positives: the staff were so kind (doormen, bellhops, front desk staff, truly everyone), they are very accommodating of pets (have an extra sign to hang on your door, have a toy bin, etc), and the location seems pretty hard to beat if you're visiting. The negatives: the climate felt very stuffy in the hotel all weekend. Granted it was very humid out but it still felt equally as humid in a hallway on the 10th floor as it did outside. My room also seemed incompletely cleaned after I checked in (trash still in the bin, half empty water bottles on a bedside table). Overall, for its price and location, a very solid stay. read more

To anyone considering a stay at the Hotel Milwaukee, let this be your definitive warning: Do not book here unless you are desperate. Our recent three-night stay was an ordeal that revealed a pattern of incompetence, neglect, and what appears to be a deliberate strategy of financial deception. At first glance, the property might seem appealing, but this illusion quickly shatters. Our experience began with a non-disclosed "early arrival fee," a charge we would have happily avoided by storing our luggage had we been informed. This lack of transparency was a fitting prelude to the disaster that followed, starting with the roaches we witnessed in the lobby. The hotel's systemic failures are staggering. The elevators are chronically dysfunctional, a logistical nightmare for our conference of nearly 100 attendees. The climate control in the rooms is non-existent; we were told the heat was off but the AC wasn't on, leaving rooms either sweltering or freezing with no way to regulate the temperature. My own room was so hot that sleep was impossible without a fan from engineering. Furthermore, our housekeeping was consistently negligent for our entire three-day stay. We reported these issues to the front desk multiple times, and while they were quick to "apologize," the apologies were empty words, as the same mishaps continued unabated. This culture of incompetence and deception flows directly from the top. The manager, Dennies Carlos, is a master of false promises and evasion. After we raised the issue of the bogus early arrival fee, he personally assured us it would be reversed. He claimed to have already sent an email with an updated folio while we were on the phone with him--a blatant lie. Our credit card website confirms the charge has not been reversed, nor is a reversal pending. Mr. Carlos is now conveniently unavailable, ignoring our calls, emails, and voicemails, having made it clear he has no intention of rectifying his hotel's failures. The constant, hollow apologies are a symptom of a larger disease: incompetent leadership that is perfectly content to charge premium prices for a sub-standard, unsanitary, and infuriating experience. Save yourself the headache, the frustration, and the financial rip-off. There are other, far nicer places to stay in Milwaukee; this one is to be avoided at all costs. read more

It's been awhile since I've done a quick trip to Milwaukee. I was thrilled I was able to reserve a room at this newly renovated hotel. The reception area and the Monarch Lounge are still a grand as always. It was great to see Millie and Sadie again. The rooms are more modern with the lighter colors. However, the bed is still very comfortable. The bathroom had minor modifications. As always, the staff were very friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel. read more

The renovation brought out a better hotel. Front desk was always hit out miss but this visit.... friendly, The dogs (Mille and Sadie) and Rusty weren't there but they are always a joy! I didn't get to see our favorite shuttle driver, Jeff but shuttle service was a little late but friendly. Miller Pub: Great food and service! I liked the bartender using my name. Cafe: Looks beautiful and welcoming. (Former patron) and it's beautiful!!!! I was in the 14th floor, they have streaming! I loved the modern bathroom. I'm going to buy a light for under the sink. Great lighting in the bathroom. A full length mirror. Perfect for makeup and getting dressed. Malcom at the front was a personable as always!!!!! Extremely great service. read more

If you have business downtown or you're in town to see the art museum, the Hilton is a good choice. Had a flying visit to Milwaukee for a conference and the Hilton Milwaukee was the conference hotel. Had a great experience here. The friendly and attentive check in staff put me on their rewards program so I could have free wifi and bottled water in my room. The hotel itself is historic and has many beautiful old timey touches. My room was stylish, comfortable and quiet. The bed was really good and I slept well. The on site gym had everything I needed for a quick work out. The staff kindly let me have a late checkout so I was nearly able to go directly to my presentation before flying home without having to mess around with storing my bag at the hotel. I'd love to come back when I have more time to explore the city. read more

ALL AREAS ARE REVIEWED 1-5, 1 being the worst and 5 being the best. Reservations-5- Always easy, although the hotel did have my reservation under an Amex that I was not familiar with. Parking-n/a Ease of check-in-5- Very easy check in at the counter in the L Level (you enter at the LL level, take the stairs or elevator to the desk) Room-2- While the room was a good size, the thermostat didn't seem to affect the temperature and there was no desk to work at (only a small round table). The bathroom was very small and you couldn't get to the toilet without closing the bathroom door, that seemed a little ridiculous for the price and size of the room. My room was next to the elevators and they were working on them everyday, starting at 7:30 am each day. Mattress/pillows-1- Possibly the most uncomfortable bed and pillows I've encountered at a Hilton. The bed was very small, and super hard and the pillows were small squares and not the greatest. Elevator speed/availability-1-This is a really big/tall hotel with six elevators, unfortunately only two seemed to be working at any given time making your wait time pretty long. Luckily I was only on the 6th floor and the stairs were adjacent. Gym/pool-5- Great hotel gym, lots of cardio choices as well as a pulley weight system and a full complement of dumbbells and benches. Restaurant- 4- The bar grill was pretty good, what you would expect eating in a bar. They have a fine dining restaurant as well that I didn't check out. Staff-4- Most of the staff was great with the exception of one oddly rude person. All my questions were answered and when my FedX package appeared to be lost both James and Corey in security spent a lot of time reviewing the security footage of the delivery and they were to track it down. Life savers! Also the concierge is fantastic, really helpful, and the dogs are great. Price-3-Pretty good for the area, lowered my rating due to the issues in the room. Overall-2 Although there was a lot that I liked about this hotel the bottom line was that it failed to provide me a place to sleep comfortably. Between the bed and pillows being uncomfortable (and small), the constant construction noise beginning at 7:30 am, and the music from the parties and wedding downstairs filling my 6th floor room with sound and shaking it until midnight this was not a pleasant experience. We went to Milwaukee for a basketball tournament at the Baird Center which is conveniently connected via skyway to the Hilton. The hotel itself is old and you can see it in the decor which was nice for me to see but the kids kept saying how creepy everything was. The elevators were surprisingly quick even though they looked so old! Our room was recently updated so it was nice and fresh but we were missing all the furniture besides a bed. It was a big corner room with no dressers, no nightstand, no desk! Everything we brought sat on the floor or window ledge. I did send a message asked if that was normal, and they did compensate me for the inconvenience which was nice! The hotel is great if you are planning on attending anything at the Baird Center! read more

Stayed here at the end of July for a business trip and overall had a really good experience. The location is hard to beat, right next to the convention center and just a short walk to plenty of downtown restaurants and attractions. It made getting around super convenient. The hotel itself has a great sense of history. I really appreciated how they've kept the classic, grand aesthetic while still incorporating modern touches. It feels like you're stepping into a piece of Milwaukee's past, but you're not sacrificing comfort. My room was pretty clean overall, though I did notice a little more hair from previous guests than I would have liked. The space was on the smaller side and I would have loved to have a table to work at, especially for a business stay. Staff were friendly and helpful whenever I needed something, and the common areas, from the lobby to the hallways, were well maintained. If you value location, historical charm, and friendly service, this is a great choice. Just be aware the rooms aren't huge, and if you're a stickler for spotless perfection, you might notice a detail or two. read more

I was in Milwaukee for a conference and my job booked us at the Hilton Downtown Milwaulkee. Once we arrived, check in was easy and the staff was pleasant. The room was clean and just big enough for 1 person. The conference was at the Baird Center, across the street, and there is an elevated walkway located on the 4th floor. Many places you want to go when your downtown, bars, restaurants, are within walking distance. Downtown was very clean and there is public transportation. read more

A traditional Art Deco hotel that is perfectly located in downtown Milwaukee. It is within walking distance of many great restaurants, shopping, and the Milwaukee Public Market. A great place to come for the holidays, as it is decorated beautifully. We also enjoyed seeing the hotel's golden doodles in the lobby - very cute. The service was great at the front desk. My only complaints would be the tiny bathrooms (due to it being such an old building) and the ability to hear loud neighbors. read more

The hotel staff were not friendly nor helpful. There was no welcome and when the room wasn't ready by check-in time, there wasn't even an apology. Our "Deluxe King" room was so small there was no desk, dresser, or comfortable chair. I sat on the end of the bed to put my socks on and had to move so my husband could fit between the bed and tv stand to walk past the bed. The bathroom door could not close if some sat on the toilet because your legs were in the way. The shower only opened on one end because the sink was up against the other end. The room had been recently redecorated and it was clean. However, on Friday, they let us know that there would be no maid service because they were short handed. This meant no refills on coffee pods, towels, or trash emptied. And no discount! I was highly disappointed and will not come back. read more

Wow, I expected a lot more for the price! My room was pretty dirty, cobwebs all over the bathroom. BATHROOM IS TINY! The toilet is a decent size however. You can sit and relax on it without strangling your manbits. Standing room only in the double room. All the king rooms were taken. I stayed during a busy week for an event, so didn't expect a view, although I did make the request. Customer service at the counter was quick and pleasant. Watch out, when you arrive, the check-in lobby is one floor up and your elevator is to the left. Strange that the check-in wasn't on the first floor at the door. There were 2 small beds in my room, a desk, lounge chair, and fridge. I was happy for the fridge! Always handy at this price. Rooms have strange layout & dimensions. The TV was situated off to the side of the bed. So don't watch tv long, you'll king your neck! I've stayed here a few different times and had the same strange room both times. A note on WIFI: most hotels offer speedy WiFi. This one doesn't! The Speedtest showed only 1 Mbps downstream speed. This was after 3 tests. Each one was the same. Luckily I have Verizon 5g UW and the cell service was excellent. Parking is expensive. Visitors beware: downtown is a trap. They have you where they want you! All good. It's Miller Time anyways! Anyways, come for the cheese n beers, then get outside and have some fun. Tons of things to see around town. read more

Not much other than a foot locker store a subway restaurant and a potbelly sandwich shop The hotel has a beer restaurant with bar food and a more formal type restaurant. If you like beer it's great. Lots of options and you can share a plate of cheese curds that this area is known for The staff in the hotel is great. Very helpful and the bed and pillows are comfy This must have been a gorgeous hotel back in the day but right now I'd say nice and in need of a facelift. Beautiful place, the room is a very nice size but I did find dirty Kleenex behind the trash can on arrival. Staff is so bad. Being a women of color with children staff was terrible towards us. I knew from the moment I stepped foot into the hotel that they were going to very judgmental and racist. This is by far the worst hotel I've stayed due to rude staff. I booked for 2 nights I got a call on day 2 saying they need "just a little bit more money for incidentals" the lady on the phone could not tell me why then she started to go on about me buying things from gift shop and room upgrade. I told her that we never did any of those things then proceeded to tell me she had the wrong reservation but she still needed a little bit more money off of my card. Instead of her apologizing for her mistake and trying to settle it she just immediately suggested transferring me to her manger. I've never experienced being treated wrong because of the color of my skin! Front desk need to be retrained on how to talk to paying guest! And how to treat BLACK people just because we are a different skin color does not mean we should get treated like we don't belong. I highly suggest not booking here if you are black! This hotel was excellent. I arrived at 9:00 a.m. on a Wednesday for the conference I was attending, and not only did they have a room ready for me, they also had an upgrade ready (I have Gold status since I have their paid credit card). I actually knew I was getting upgraded a few days beforehand because I got an email from Hilton, which was exciting. I had booked a standard king room and they put me in a King Superior room, which ended up being quite huge - It's almost like a studio suite, you have the bed area plus a couch, a desk, another chair, and the bathroom. As a Hilton Gold member, you also get free breakfast and access to the lounge with snacks but I was only in town for the one night and the conference provided breakfast today, so I ended up not using it. The bed was also very comfortable. My only complaint is that I did not get any body wash in my room so I had to improvise and use the shampoo... Not sure if it was overlooked or they just don't supply any. Otherwise I have zero complaints about this hotel and would definitely stay here again, it seemed a little older but it was also very beautiful. read more

The hotel is absolutely gorgeous. The newly renovated guestrooms were lovely with very comfy beds. The decor reminds me of the Phister Hotel, but on a cozier scale. We had cocktails and appetizers at The Chop House, they have good deals for happy hour! Our bartender, Steve, was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed chatting with him. Bonus: It is walking distance to the Fiserv! We will stay here the next time we are in town! read more

The staff here is VERY rude... they talked to me and other people attending a con very disrespectfully yelling at us to sit down in the lobby and stop standing around and was only respectful to a prissy white woman who stood around and let her do just that. I also went to the bathroom with my female friend (I'm female) and it was single stall so we went in together to not get separated. The staff asked us to leave the bathroom and we complied. The manager cussed us out for being rude to staff even though we apologized for going in together and asked if we could finish up which they said of course. They also threatened to have us removed simply for asking how we were rude and what we did. If you value respectful staff do not come here, especially if you're staying for a con. read more

Recently stayed here and had some issues with the air conditioning. The room was very humid and although the temperate control read at 70 degrees, it was not cold in the room at all and was actually warm. We cranked down the temperature to 60 in hopes for it to cool down by the time we returned but with no luck. The next day we called for service but I am unsure if they checked it out as when we came back later that day, it was not the nice cool room we were expecting. Instead it was humid and warm. I woke up in the middle of that night sweating. I called again the next morning and was told sorry about that and that they would check to see if it had been serviced and would have someone take a look. We arrived back later to still a warm room. But we know someone was at least present in our room as someone made our beds and gave us fresh towels. But for our entire stay of 7 nights, the temperate read never dropped below 70, but also that 70 was WARM. I don't believe it was actually 70 in our room. I am pretty sure the rooms are temperature controlled and that the control switch on the wall is a literal fluke and doesn't mean anything. Also, the television was completely unplugged. Unplugged from electricity and from cable or whatever they had available. It actually took me until the last day of my stay to figure it out and get it plugged back in. Also, we found a boot in our room that did not belong to us. It was under the velvet chair, so that makes me feel like they did not vacuum very well. Water pressure sucked. Toilet pipes were exposed. Gym was missing 5 and 10 pound weights... looks like they were stolen or something. The lobby is pretty and the elevator style is neat but that's about it. It's nice to be connected to a Starbucks, but also weird that you can't enter the hotel through Wisconsin St as the doors were exit only, maybe cause of less security. All in all, it was a place to sleep but woke up sweating. Don't think I'll be back. read more

The bathroom door has severe chipped paint and the overflow drain cap fell off within seconds of using the tub. Definitely see some cracks around the room and surprised to not see a mini fridge. Also heads up to guests who check in through their app- the room you book online might not be the one you get in person. I booked a room with a king sized bed and walked into 2 doubles. I was told that there was a room shortage despite booking ahead of time and the staff could do nothing about it. She didn't even apologize or offer anything else. Super dissatisfied with the service and probably won't be coming here again. read more

This is right across the street from the Double Tree and it's a gorgeous hotel set in its time, very antique but comfortable and exceptionally clean. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful, check-in was at 3pm but they let us park our car in the hotel garage and at check-in just bring the parking ticket to get it validated. We went to meet with friends in the meantime until check in. They have a restaurant bar that has awesome drinks and food. We really enjoyed the stay here. read more

No microwaves in the rooms mean that you must go to the lobby to use the microwaves, however, the wiring is so old that they will burst the fuse. So... what exactly did I find on the floor? I will say this place isn't THAT bad... I mean, it's bad but not THAT bad! Apparently, doing a thorough job of vacuuming a room is against the rules - the carpets are filthy. There is a stain on the floor and I can't tell if it's blood or something else (I forgot my black light at home - meh), and about a foot away from the assumed murder stain is a toenail clipping - it's NASTY! SO nasty that I refuse to walk on the carpet without my slippers on! While inspecting other areas of the carpet, I seemed to find other little gems that have been left behind by others of a distant (or recent) past; mystery scavenger hunt items, if you will! But, at least the beds and shower were clean! Much to my chagrin, this place is not better than a cheap motel with an art deco facade on some lonely and shady highway. I expected much better for a Hilton, and will never stay here again. Ick! read more

Gorgeous aesthetic, oh my gosh! I absolutely loved all the detail. The front desk staff were fine to deal with and housekeeping came quickly when we requested extra towels. Our room was clean, no complaints. There's a cozy bar lounge that is perfect for soaking up the detail in the lobby. We enjoyed our drinks; they weren't perfect but they seemed strong. I appreciated that the bar stocked local distilleries, as it prompted me to book a tour at one for the next day! read more

The absolute WORST Hilton hotel my wife and daughter have ever stayed at! Room was simply filthy, bathroom had short hairs on toilet and faucet leaked (have photos to prove claims), dining was ridiculously priced for mediocre food! Housekeeping came to clean the room again, and from Friday to Sunday morning there was another film of dust on the table (enough to write your name) already built up. Something is seriously wrong with the ventilation system for that to happen and cause breathing, congestion issues, and eye irritation to both my wife and daughter! My wife and daughter drove from out of state (through a snowstorm) for a volleyball weekend tournament for THIS! Spent the night in Milwauikee at the Hilton City Center. We wanted to be close to Baird center for the King Tut exhibit. Good downtown location and hotel. Liked Hiltons keyless entry process! Rooms were large, spotless and comfortable with tall ceilings. Pleasant staff. We liked the locked entry to our guest room hallway. This is a beautiful historic hotel that is well maintained. Only one complaint. We drive an EV and Hilton advertised at Tesla charging station in the parking structure. We were never able to use it because another car parked there for hours. It was fully charged but never moved. They need to post a sign that charging is to be shared for all guests and limit parking in the stall to 2 hours max. Signage and monitoring by the parking security is needed. read more

Cannot stress enough do not book here. Their system would not allow me to get a key to my room upon check in, after about 30 minutes of standing there the manager offered me a suite. Once in the suite I noticed blood stains all over the bathroom floor. There was also a big blood stain on the carpet next to the bed. After addressing this with the front desk they offered me the room I was originally supposed to have which I declined because I was already creeped / grossed out, we stayed with a friend that was already in their room. On top of this i have been trying for a week to get my near $200 security deposit back and it is radio silence from the hotel. Overall extremely disappointing I would not recommend staying here to anyone. read more

Oh Hilton so disappointed. The building is over 10 years old and is beautiful in the lobby but the rest feels it's years and not in a good way. The room is dated. Furniture is old and as arranged to make the most of the space. The room is large enough for a small couch yet only one comfy chair was provided. No real dresser, just two drawers as part of the tv stand. And despite all the signs about being super clean it wasn't. Window sills were not dusted well and there was trash in the drawer from a previous guest. read more
