With all of our previous vets we had emergent issues that would have required us to either pay an emergency vet or wait weeks. All of the staff were friendly and helpful and judge free. They manage a lot of care on the app. The app is great for vaccine and flea med reminders as well as communicating with your care team for questions. I feel like with other vets they won't answer questions over the phone even simple ones without an appointment. Price point is high- but they have to run a business I'm sure the cost of running a clinic like this is steep as well. A little more price transparency would be good.

I live on the East side so I'd chosen a vet close to home but it's Dr. Chris who has come to my aid and helped me through some panicky/tough times with my cats. My cat Jilly stopped eating and before I knew it, she was skin and bones. She is already a dainty cat, and really furry, so it didn't take long for her bones of her spine to start protruding. I could not get her in to the vet near me so Dr. Chris analyzed the situation and calmed my fears. It was hyper-thryoid and after getting her onto meds, Jilly gained her weight back and is back to being her frisky self. My boy kitty, Jacky, died very suddenly not too long ago. He was 13 and both my vet and the emergency vet hospital said he probably had liver or kidney disease and there would have been very little they could have done for him. Dr. Chris concurred and had a long talk with me about my current situation. Numerous friends are pushing me to get another cat, but Jilly hates other cats (Jacky being an exception, because I got them both as kittens). Dr. Chris explained that cats are not pack animals and getting another cat might actually really stress her out and cause illness to her. That eased my mind a great deal. Jilly fights the neighbor cats by attacking my sliding glass doors. She continually attacked the rescue cat I took in a few years ago, who ran away after I let him out to play in the backyard (where I originally found him). Dr. Chris was giving me rational advice. She understands animals and knows what's best for them. Jilly wants me for herself and would prefer solitude while I am am work than sharing her home with a new cat. Dr. Chris is incredibly caring and gives solid, smart advice. I know that I can always trust her to level with me about what is best for my baby Jilly.

Last night she was having problems breathing, by the time I got to the Emergency Vet in Tannasborne, she was critical. X-rays showed she had a tumor in her windpipe. By this time, it was inoperable. I had to put her to sleep right there. I understand the vet that misdiagnosed my cat is no longer there. I will NEVER bring my pets that this clinic. Please be careful.

First city vet came to our rescue when we needed it most. My rescue Susie started acting really off…read moreearlier in the week. She wasn't eating, was lethargic and shaky. So I called the vet and they got me in the next day at 9am. The evening before her appointment Susie looked like she was much better so I called and canceled our appointment. Then the next morning we got up and she was back to not eating and being lethargic and even worse. She was having a hard time just walking outside. I called that morning and they got us in that day at 4:30 pm. As the day went on she was getting worse and worse and wouldn't open her eyes unless she absolutely had to. Got to the vet and they found the problem so quickly after doing an ultrasound they found that she had pyometra--an infection/inflammation of the uterus that can cause it to fill with fluid or pus and can become life-threatening if the uterus isn't removed. They scheduled us for surgery the next morning at 8am. We took her in and the staff was so amazing. We picked susie up from the vet after surgery later that day and we could instantly tell that she was feeling much much better. We are so incredibly thankful for First city veterinary hospital! She's recovering amazingly!! She's doing so good that we're having a hard time keeping her down to rest and recover! She's also reactive to other dogs and they made it so easy to get her in. I walked in and checked her in and then they brought us through the side door!

My experience was okay…read more I made a most difficult decision to let my beloved cat go after a long weekend spent almost entirely in ER trying to figure out why he would no longer eat and why his eye was swelling shut. And an even longer two or three weeks before that fighting to get him to eat. Like others here, Kevin was closer to me than my human family. I was busy with the doctors in ER so my partner called in to make the appointment to ease my stress. He said I was primary contact, but it was difficult to make that clear all the way until the day so communications were continually going to him. Not a big deal in the overall picture, but it didn't make the experience any easier. This was my cat for 8 years before I met my partner and while he loved my baby, I was the one with the lifelong bond. The doctor showed up within the time window allotted. We both found her a little cold. I felt like we were just a job and everything was done by number. My BF picked up my cat and carried him to me, but the doctor said we should do paperwork first which resulted in me putting him down after building up to do what I deemed impossible. I was emotional and crying. This really should somehow be handled before the visit. There were corrections to be made on the form. I was about to lose my baby and this only made me aware that I was filling out his death warrant. I am utterly heartbroken. I know holding your baby until the last minute is catharsis and closure, but I found it traumatizing. His passing was peaceful at least. Everyone's goodbye will be unique, and my example will not necessarily match what others experience. Everyone we spoke to was professional. I just wasn't feeling the compassion.

Both of these were present in our first visit to ACGLO. Even though our first apt wasn't until Friday, when we called to get in sooner because of some GI concerns, they got us in almost immediately.
