On vacation last summer, her aunt (a former D1 diver) showed her some dives and suggested she just "try" diving. They looked online, found Cal Diving Academy, and sent an e-mail. Coach Eric called my daughter that afternoon to tell her about the program and suggested she come in the following week just to try it out. My daughter did not intend to switch sports then and there, but she loved diving and everything about Cal Diving Academy. From day one, the coaches and the other divers have been welcoming, friendly, and inclusive. The coaching has been incredible. Her diving is beautiful and she has learned so much. More importantly, the coaches show incredible kindness, compassion, and are very attentive to the whole athlete. Guiding them gently through fears and getting to know them as people. I am so grateful that my daughter found coach Eric and Cal Diving Academy. She is a happier person having found this new home away from home.

We absolutely love it here, the kids adore their instructors. In particular our daughter, she looooves her instructor she can't wait to see her each week. They are both now pool safe which was my biggest concern and why we started swim lessons in the first place. I've recommended little swimmers to multiple friends for a few different reasons. One being they have two indoor pools that are nice and warm, no having to worry about shivering kids while they are in the water. The little pool only has 2 kids to a lesson at a time which is amazing, there are no distractions so my daughter really makes use of her 30 minute lesson. Having only the one lesson at a time in the pool is just priceless because you can hear everything and it's not chaotic like other places we've looked at. The larger pool where my son now swims will have another lesson going on but it's not crowded and still only 2 kids to 1 instructor. They get so much one on one time. Finally, my absolute favorite part about little swimmers is that the instructors are responsible and reliable. My kids aren't stuck with people they don't know each week, they've built trust and friendships with their instructors and that is a HUGE part in why they've become so comfortable and safe in the water. The younger kids learn to swim without noticing, they're just having a blast! Her range of expertise is incredible, she'll hop in the water with a toddler for a learn to swim session, help a scared child overcome their fear and learn to love the water, and then five minutes later she'll be coaching an elite 18 year old competitive swimmer on how to drop a millisecond from their best event in order to qualify for some big meet. Heidi has been coaching for over 25 years, and her ability to connect with all different personality types, kids who are shy or worried, kids with excessive confidence, kids with learning differences - you name it and she's encountered it successfully and with grace. I cannot recommend her program enough, and anyone on her staff embodies the same approach. She coaches her teachers on how she wants the lessons to operate and every situation is tailored to that unique swimmer's needs. Coach Heidi is also the head coach for Woodlands Swim Team, and that is where her lessons take place. She is incredible, you won't be disappointed.

I will say that he screamed the entire 6 weeks but from all the other babies/toddlers and talking to returning parents, it seemed to be the norm. My baby loved to swim but absolutely HATED to float. What good is a baby who can swim but not float? If something were to happen, I would rather have a screaming baby floating in the pool instead of the alternative. By the completion of our lesson, our baby was able to get into his float after entering the water in multiple different scenarios. He ended it with a 2 minute float, that he was whining through the entire time. It was encouraging to see toddlers who were in their second year with her, they absolutely loved the water and if I didn't know any better I would of assumed their lessons were always that smooth from the beginning. Their parents confirmed that their first year looked just like mine. Kids are resilient and capable of more than we think, it's the parents who put limitations on them.

If you look at the pictures from when it was first built, the core elements are the same (in a good way) while upgraded amenities have been added as well. Kids love the diving board and simply playing with their friends - we have outgrown the wading pool but that is a hit with toddlers. During the summer and Fall evenings, we regularly bring dinner or BBQ at the pool. Highly recommend!
