From the heels of Marco's Coal Fired Pizza comes Dough Counter. A more fast(er) casual pie shop with the many familiar tastes of the LoDo version of the restaurant. We were greeted as we walked in. I initially thought it was waiter service but turns out you order everything at the counter. No big deal. Ordered a salad, a supreme pizza and two drinks. That's not where the experience ends though. While the vinaigrette on dressing seemed a bit too tart, the shaved cheese bits seemed to balance it out. Next time, certainly will try a different salad. The pizza though, ohhhh damn how it left a smile on my face. A heavenly balance of sauce, dough and toppings. I was certainly tempted to buy another one for Super Bowl Sunday! I refrained. haha. I went with no expectations and left with a very high regard for their pie and would certainly return to try the remainder of the menu. Great place for a group of friends, a date or solo trip. Just grab a pie and you'll understand!

Wow, this was our first time here and we really enjoyed our meal. Service was fast and friendly and the ambiance was casual and comfy, Now, the food- the 3 of us shared the Cesar salad which was just the right amount and a deal at $6.50! I ordered the gluten free Sicilian with sausage and peppers and the kiddo has a new York style cheese. Everything was flavorful and we thought was affordable as well! Will be back!

Pretty humble and unassuming Pizza joint that serve up some pleasant twists to the classic dishes. Everything familiar is trendy here. For example, the salads (we tried both the Mandarin chicken salad and Caesar salad) the salad bowl sizes were perfect and came with tongs for serving, I thought that was neat! The Loaded potatoes pizza is a must try. I don't quite recall anybody else offering such a combination. If you didn't believe starchy roots can taste good on a gluten pie, think again and try it! The Margarita NY style pizza was ordered to accommodate a friend who's vegetarian. I ended up trying a little bite and it was good too. I wouldn't mind stopping over and try everything from the menu. This place stroke a high chord with me!

found this place through social media and so glad we did. They have GLUTEN FREE chicken tenders!!! So so yum. Crunchy outside, moist chicken and a balanced honey mustard. Also had the triple threat GF Sicilian pizza crust and the 3 sauces were delicious. The crust is very crunchy on the bottom but still a treat for deep dish. There's another GF deep dish (Detroit style) place in Denver that I would prefer crust-wise... So summary: come for the pizza, STAY for the chicken tendies.

    Pizza. GF deep dish.

Amazing GF pizza and fried chicken. Pizza had such a great chew/crunch for GF. The fries were even amazing. Perfectly crunchy and crispy and seasoned well. Service was fast. Nice atmosphere and Coke Zero is always a plus. The GF dessert was very nice as well.

Love dough counter. Awesome NY and Sicilian style za by the slice or whole. Incredible dough. Would definitely put it amongst the top pizza spots in denver. Staff are super nice and the restaurant space is cool. They did a great job with the shop. Bug fan of the hot honey pep and the triple threat. Haven't had the big mac or chicken parm but they are next on the wish list. Highly recommend a stop by for some great pizza in Denver away from the madness of downtown.

WOW! I have not had pan pizza since I have been gluten free. This was so good. Even the small is a generous portion. I ate about half. We also tried the gluten free mozzarella sticks. They're pretty small so do yourself a favor and get 12!

6 piece chicken tenders + 10 piece mozz sticks. Burger sauce and mozzarella on the side.

I would genuinely not call this pizza. This was a gluten free focaccia that had tomato and cheese sneezed on the top. A fists worth of mediocre, overcooked bread, covered with a thumb and a pinkies worth of sauce and cheese. Mozzarella sticks were mediocre, at best. I won't knock them points because I did not eat them fresh out of the fryer. Marinara was sweet, but decent. Chicken tenders were ultimately the superior item. Reminiscent of a Cane's tender in all the right ways and the wrong ways. Burger sauce was exquisite. Seriously disappointed in the experience for the cost. Was really rooting for you, Dough Counter, but I'd be better off making a frozen pizza at home. Celiacs and gluten free customers be warned, it's not worth it.

I love this pizza! I'm always searching for great Sicilian style like I grew up on. Now this isn't the pizza from my childhood - it's even better. They not only have Sicilian, they have NY style too, so everyone is happy. Pizza isn't the only thing served here they have - Chicken Strips, Fries, Starters, Salads & even a display case of Desserts. Dough Counter is located in the University Hills Plaza, with plenty of parking. The inside is cute, with a checkerboard floor, booths, tables & pendant lighting. And... stacks & stacks of pizza boxes, that actually add to the ambiance & decor, as well as background music & a big screen TV. There is also outdoor seating & a separate party room. We arrived on a late Sunday afternoon & was surprised to see many of the tables filled as well as the party room. A friendly employee took our order at the counter & gave us a number to place on the table, they bring the food to you. Other than that everything is self service - plates, silverware, fountain drinks/water & seasonings/condiments. The pizzas were wood fired, with deliciously crispy & crunchy crusts. I really enjoyed that there wasn't a ton of sauce too. The NY style came with tomato sauce & mozzarella cheese. This was good but the Sicilian was the star...absolutely wonderful! It's a light pan pizza (5-day rise dough), with spicy cupped pepperoni, nicely balanced with brick cheese & a dollop of ricotta cheese plus a hot honey drizzle on top. Memorable, crave-able & delectable!

*CELIAC / GLUTEN FREE REVIEW holy crust! I haven't had Sicilian pizza since my diagnosis, and this did not disappoint. We got the hot honey pepperoni and the triple threat - both very good!! We also had to try the green chili cheese bread and chicken strips, delicious. The sauces were also yummy:) we got the house buttermilk ranch, strippers' special sauce, and tangy BBQ. The restaurant has EXTENSIVE practices put in place to take care of allergies (they have a whole portion of their website online to talk about GF. The staff were very kind and I did not get sick.

I'll give credit where it's due though--the appetizers were the highlight. The green mussels and the Caesar salad were genuinely good and set the bar high at the start. The pizza is where things went sideways. The first one was delayed because it was burned. The second attempt still came out semi-burned and didn't look or taste as appealing as expected, especially after the wait. I also ordered a spicy mezcal margarita. There was nothing spicy about it, and the presentation was plain at best. For a cocktail with mezcal and heat in the name, I expected more intention behind it. Atmosphere is decent. Medium lighting, plenty of space, and good potential for private dining. That part works. The service itself was polite and very apologetic about the delays, which I appreciated. That said, I would have liked to see a bit more management involvement checking in on the table to see how the rest of the experience landed. Overall, it lands around a 3.5 to 4 stars for me. Some strong flavors, but consistency and attention to detail need work

Said I should expect about a 30 min wait for the group size and time we were wanting to be sat. Got there 30 mins prior to when we wanted to sit and the hostess told me it would be 45-60 mins and that there were several reservations ahead of me including another 7 top and if the reservation came in our table would keep getting bumped. This was VERY annoying. Our table ended up being ready in 30 mins which was nice but the conversation with the hostess to start then seemed ridiculously unnecessary. There is little waiting space inside and a makeshift host "area." I won't be back.

Soup is just ok, nothing special, the broth is pretty bland, matzah ball is fine. But it's moreso the brisket that's disappointing. I don't grasp their love of ketchup...is ketchup a popular French condiment? They put it on every plate. (Turned out that it was necessary to moisten the dry hash browns.) Two of us at our table had choking fits while we ate. My greatest complaint -- Cafe de France IS NOT ADA ACCESSIBLE! There is no ADA parking anywhere near this business. Their double doors are extremely heavy and the youngster serving as host just stood at his podium and watched me struggle to get my walker through those doors...and the place wasn't even busy yet. When I told him the name of the group I was joining, he just kept repeating, "How many in your party?" When I realized that he didn't speak English, I just proceeded to find my group on my own. Upon exiting the room where my group had gathered, I saw that the place was packed for lunch...so packed, that I couldn't maneuver my walker through the crowd to get to the door. A couple of patrons had to get up out of their chairs and move furniture to allow me to pass and they were annoyed by my audacity when I said, "Excuse me, please." The cherry on top...I had the trots for several hours last night. As that was my only meal yesterday, I am drawing my own conclusions on the origin of that.
