Don't pass up this delicious restaurant as the facade is under renovation with scaffolding set up. We had a family party on one side of the restaurant and everything about it was perfect. The kids had space to play but contained so that they couldn't Wander off into the kitchen. As for the food everything tasted really light and fresh. We had an assortment of Salads, Meatballs, Rice balls, shrimp, wood fired pizza, steak, cavatellis, broccoli etc... It was family style and everything at our table was devoured. I usually never write reviews but I couldn't help myself this time! I wish I could give Dough 100 stars for both their service and food! First and foremost our waiter, Anthony, was the best waiter we (meaning my boyfriend and I) have had in a really long time and it was so refreshing. Usually when younger waiter see a younger couple they tend to slack off or take it easy ... Not Anthony, he was wonderful and I thank him for that !! Now to the food ... We started off with the zucchini chips which were delicious !! The dipping sauce was fantastic as well ! But the real prize was the pizza (obviously)! I can't say enough praise about the pizza. I worked in a wood-fired pizzeria for a little over two years and have been looking for a place comparable ever since I left. The pizza at Dough blew it out of the water !!!! The crust was so flavorful and not too doughy but not too crisp.. The sauce was tasty but not overpowering. Everything was so fresh and I taste the dedication and hard work they put in their food with every bite I took. I will never go anywhere else for speciality pizzas ever again !! Best artisan pizza in town! I have been to Dough a few times and I have never been disappointed. The pizza is obviously a must try but they also serve phenomenal appetizers as well as pasta and full plates (the chicken is great!). One of the first dining spots after the restrictions were lightened and we were able to take the kids for a nice afternoon lunch. Love absolutely love the pizza, all of the varieties are good, we love the zucchini fries and even all of their salads. It has a nice veranda in the back, so even if it rains you can still sit outdoors. Would definitely recommend for a lunch spot and I found out they even have gluten free Dough! I only review if a place is really great. I used to work in the restaurant business and can be a bit critical from time to time, but those who were in it understand. That being said, Dough really impressed me last night. I had been to their other location a few times since it is very close to my home, and always thought it was decent, but the new location really hit a home run. Our server, i believe his name was Dante, was friendly and super attentive, even with the restaurant being packed. The drinks were fantastic, it was nice to see some whiskey based cocktails. Also, the team had an "all hands on deck" approach. Food came out fast and hot, and was run by different staff members. Pre bussing was done each time, drinks refilled quickly. Of course the food was great as well, the zucchini chips were light and seasoned well, meatballs tender, and ya gotta get the pizza. Be adventurous, try a pie with some of their unique ingredients. All in all, dough whooped some serious a$$. In a world where service is a lost art, and humdrum establishments are a dime a dozen, I left feeling like the staff cared and the cooks/chef cranked out awesome meals. After reading all of the rave reviews, I really was looking forward to having dinner here. Things started out quite well. Upon entering, I loved the rustic decor and the affable hostesses. After being seated, we were greeted by our friendly waiter. After taking some time to review the menu, we placed our order: a margherita pie and a pesto pie. First, let's discuss the margherita which has fresh mozzarella, basil, sea salt, and tomato sauce ($12). The center was thin and soft and the outside had that nice bit of crispiness to it. The tomato sauce could have been sweeter and I could barely taste the fresh mozzarella. Furthermore, there was only single strip of basil on one of the three slices I had. The rest didn't have basil at all. Basically, I felt like I was eating a plain pie. Now, let's move onto the pesto ($16) which has grilled chicken, basil pesto, fresh mozzarella, pine nuts and fresh basil. While the flavor combination should have been right up my alley, this pie was extremely disappointing. The chicken was cut into cubes and was really dry. If only the other ingredients were strong enough to make up for it. I think this pie would have been better with much thinner pieces of chicken. The basil pesto wasn't as pesto-y as I would have liked. Perhaps they didn't use enough basil or garlic in their recipe?? With so many other appetizing sounding pies on the menu, I'd pass on this one. While I love the concept of fresh, local ingredients, as well as the atmosphere, this place just didn't live up to the hype. I'm hoping that if I return, they've upped their pizza game. read more

such a cute find!!! we sat in the backyard patio and it felt like we were transported to Austin or Nashville or somewhere super nice and laidback...the 4 of us shared the burrata, meatballs, and zucchini crisps all per recommendation from the waitress, and they all delivered. crisps were delish without leaving a heavy oily aftertaste, felt super light even if it wasn't. the meatballs were tender and moist and flavorful, not dried up and tough like a lot of italian places. the burrata dish was extremely fresh, with watermelon and avocado. We ordered two pizzas to share, the sausage + manchego + corn pizza which was a summer seasonal and the shroom. both were such new tastes since i've never seen those types of mushrooms on my pizza before (they used asian woodear!!!) nor had basically mexican corn on a pizza. but they were AWESOME and I would totally go back to try the rest of them! read more

Cripsy, not too thin, not too thick, and dipped in chili pepper dipping sauce. They disappeared before you could spell "zucchini" (I know it can be a tough word though, you know, is it two Cs? Two Ns? Where does the H go?)... We ordered the pancetta, farm egg & potatoes pizza and the summer pie with summer squash, cherry tomatoes and mozz. The crusts were thin and crispy without being crumbly and the flavor combinations were spot on. I could have eaten about 10 more than we actually ate. Not to mention, they have NUTELLA gelato! And it has these delightful little chunks of chocolate amongst the creamy, Nutella-y gelato perfection. I can't say enough. There's a beautiful, spacious patio in the back with a nicely landscaped garden and the main restaurant was decorated nicely, too. The place was still pretty packed when we showed up around 8:45 p.m. on a Sunday, but we were seated within 10 minutes and our server was super friendly and helpful. This is my #1 spot for pizza in NJ. Everything about this place is awesome. The pizza, the service, and the interior. They also have a great outside area where you can eat during the summer, too. The first time I went here was two years ago and I ordered a pizza with egg on top of it. They brought it over and the waiter apologized for the egg for being overcooked and not runny, so they gave me a FREE pizza to make up for it. Beautiful string lights and garden. The service was not great. He seemed overwhelmed. We had to ask multiple times for glasses for our beers and for glasses of water. I ordered the same pizza (B&B) and it was terrible. Not hot - the meat on top was sliced too thick - it tasted like it had been sitting around which didn't make any sense because I thought all the pizzas were made to order. Then, they rushed us out. We were barely done eating and they started cleaning up around us. Even taking our water glasses. I understand everyone wants to go home but we felt too awkward to even order dessert at that point. Went to dinner the other night with another couple and had a wonderful experience! We started with their homemade ricotta and bread and zucchini chips . The zucchini chips were delicious- not your typical greasy fries and came with a very good dipping sauce ... Big hit at the table! Not being able to try the amazing pizzas with meat because it was Friday we had the margarita , the burrata pie and the special pie of the day which was a white pie with spinach and artichoke hearts. So good!! My husband who does not usually like white pizza loved it! Spinach perfectly sautéed with garlic. Price was very reasonable as well and it's byo how can you beat it! Plenty of seating so we didn't have to wait at all on a busy Friday night. We will definitely be back to try all of the different options and the meat plate! Great spot read more

Just think of cheese, ricotta and garlic with the perfect crunch. The also made up a pizza among the many fresh topping. Ours consisted of hot peppers, onions, and sausage. Delicious. But, that's not all...we also HAD to try the Mac N' Cheese meal as well which just melted in your mouth. Another pizza place in Caldwell? No! Dough is definitely "not another pizza place" in this saturated market. Their artisanal-style pizzas are incredible and so refreshing from the typical Italian pizzas we get around here. Definitely consider the special pizza that day, whatever it is! We also tried the Pancetta, Egg & Potato pizza which was also an exciting mix of flavors. And the dough they use tells you exactly how this place got its name. I guarantee you will eat the crust! But don't get me wrong, they do Italian right as well.. We tried the meatball appetizer, which was light and had a great amount of flavor. It also came in a nice tomato sauce. We then tried the Cauliflower Prosciutto pasta, which was sensational. A cool variation of carbonara and the pasta was al dente. Overall, I wish I could say I was overhyping this place but they have a committed owner/chef (who we chatted up and he was very friendly) that is clearly passionate about what he does.. Dough exemplifies the concept of simple, fresh ingredients that work together.. We have been back twice since our first visit two weeks ago.. So please western Essex county, I urge you to skip the "typical pizza place" and come try Dough.. Too many places come and go in this area, but Dough is a gem I'd hate to lose read more
