I haven't been here enough to give it five stars yet, but it's looking like it'll go that way. Excellent pie. Not too sweet, nice flavors and nice balance. I had honey apple, which was a little on the cold side (I'm not sure what temperature I was expecting but it wasn't the one I got--but it was still tasty, just surprising) but with a great crust and filling. My husband had the Buckeye pie, which was REALLY tasty. Nice flavor balance (salt in the pretzel-laced icebox crust to offset the sweetness of the chocolate and PB, a whipped topping to cut through the sweetness from the other side) and good ingredients, great technique. We also had coffee, which was good but not particularly remarkable--pretty much exactly what I want, the star of the show is the pie. I was going to try the biscuits but, I have to confess, I was kind of hoping that they would be like the biscuits at Bang Bang Pie in Chicago. They are not. I will try them at some point but I'm not in a hurry. The space inside is adorable. A great mix of vintage elements with an uncluttered modern feel. It's a great place to sit and have a lunch or breakfast date, though there is the potential for future crowding in the small space. Loved this place. The south side location was really close to my downtown apartment. It just abruptly closed the other day. Drove way to the Clintonville location and stood in line for ten minutes only to find they don't make the lavender earl gray latte. So, that was a waste of time. When I called to place my order I was met with an annoyed voice that had no interest in taking my order. I was convenient with my efficiency on placing the order but they answered with unkindness. At one point after I was already initially met with rudeness on the phone, I asked for a chocolate chip cookie and they said they did not have any left so I asked about their other cookies and she gave me a long annoyed sigh and said she didn't want to help and told me to come in to look myself. The most interesting yet delicious experience I've had in Columbus in a while. I don't eat meat and I love biscuits and gravy and they did an INCREDIBLE job with the mushroom gravy. Rude staff, very small cafe. The dining room is basically a glorified broom closet, and the tables and chairs are clearly crap someone got for free off Craigslist. Tables are flimsy, warped and uneven and the seating is flimsy wood that constantly felt like it was going to topple. For a PIE RESTAURANT that advertises itself as a welcoming space, they're NOT friendly to patrons of size. They're not friendly at all, to be honest. No matter when you go, expect to wait at the counter. While they apparently have like 17 people working in the tiny kitchen, they're all too busy for you. I guess the cruddy plate they're scrubbing out is more important than paying customers with cash in hand. They act like they're doing you a favor. Save yourself the parking hassle, time, and aggravation. Go elsewhere. read more

I thought this place had super cute vibes. Love how it supports other local businesses such as a local book store and the crystal shop beside it by selling their goods. At first glance at their menu, I thought they were a little pricey. However, when I tried my stuffed French toast and my boyfriend had his sandwich and salad we loved it!! The only thing we really did not love about the place is they had the back doors open and there were tons of bugs flying everywhere in the eating area and were trying to land on my food......... did not like that. Oh my! So happy to have finally been able to try out Dough Mama. We went here with a friend from the Northeast and we both agreed that this place had the same vibe to some of our favorite farm to table locations. You walk in and see all the friendly people, waiting is a breeze (even though it took 15 minutes you don't feel it), and the choices are delicious. I really want to love this place and would have loved for it to be my go-to. It is within walking distance of my house and I adore the idea of it. It's just that every time I go I am so underwhelmed by the the overpriced brunch. :( A mug of coffee is pricey and you don't get refills. For a dessert/brunch spot this is unfortunate. After an honest mix up involving a pie that never got picked up, and having a somewhat misleading conversation with one of the staff, the owner reached out and very graciously made things right. Absolute love dough mama. really cool, relaxed place. Biscuits and gravy are the best in town -- they are legit unlike the add water to a packet gravy a lot of places serve. The decor and atmosphere is great. It is bright and cozy and they do a good job of trying to be sustainable by using real dishes and silverware. The savory foods might be nice, but I have twice now tried the sweets. The best I can say is to not bother with them. One can get the same flavor by eating a spoonful of white sugar. Wishing I could give this spot a 3.5 instead of a flat 3. It was slightly above average, but not a place we'll go back to often. They have a great avocado sandwich and some solid pies, but it's pricy and coffee isn't anything special. The decor is minimalistic and hipster, it's cute. We waited over 25 min for our avocado biscuits to come out, there were only 4 other parties in the place so there wasn't a backup or anything. Weird. To make up for it, an employee brought us a cookie which they described as a cranberry oatmeal cookie or something (can't remember the actual name), and it contained pistachios which I'm super allergic to. Thankfully with one bite I realized and spit it out and didn't have a reaction, but it was still scary. First and only time I've come into contact with my allergen since developing this pistachio allergy. I could have been better about asking what was in it, but the description didn't lead me to think it had nuts. Either way, the experience was so/so. Worth checking out, but not sure if it's worth going back time and time again. read more

We went out to brunch today on Dough Mama's opening day and were very well pleased with this new addition to Clintonville's restaurants. I had the breakfast biscuit with a fried egg and avocado. The biscuit was delightfully flaky melt in your mouth good. The egg was perfectly cooked and the combination with the avocado was sumptuous. Additionally, i finished my brunch with a pumpkin scone. It was somewhere between a British scone and the usual light weight too sweet American version. Just enough spiciness and not overly sweet. There aren't a huge number of items yet on their menu, but everything we had was delightful. Definitely going to make Dough Mama a frequent stop. read more

Favorite brunch spot in Columbus. In Clintonville on High St. near Clinton Elementary, right before you get to North Broadway if you're traveling north. Food was pretty good, very pricey. $15.00 for 2 eggs, a biscuit, potatoes and a coffee. I did order off of the À la cart menu, so that is a little bit my fault. There were two tickets waiting ahead of mine as I ordered, it still took 20 minutes to get my food. There were two other tables in the dining room and both had their food by the time I entered. I also paid $3.00 for a cup of coffee and did not receive a refill, (Not sure if that is the norm). The manager was in the dining room interviewing potential employees but I still did not see any staff except when I received my food.
