Paid almost $100 dollars for three burgers, two sides of curly fries, and three drinks. They were out of all other fry options right after the girl that took our order advertised tots and waffle fries trying to get my friend to do a combo. Once I order a combo, she suddenly remembers she's out of everything besides curly fries which was annoying. They then stick a piece of duct tape on their menu (?) which looked trashy but also confusing because you couldn't tell why it was there it the first place. They were out of all sodas and only had water, brisk tea, and Dr. Pepper available. Looks like no one was prepared for the weekend... The curly fries were sad and gross. It was pretty much just the left over curly fries as it was just an order of broken off pieces that you usually find at the bottom of a frozen food bag. I ordered from Doordash and saw that there were pretty good reviews so I had high hopes. I got two orders of the onion rings, the GTA double smash burger, the cheesesteak, wings, a slice of pepperoni pizza, and a "cinnamon roll". The onion rings did not come with the ranch that it was advertised to come with. The onion rings had a thick crunchy batter that was very chewy, which wasn't great. This combined with the fact that the piece of onion inside was the smallest thinnest piece of onion, just made it seem like it was chewing fried batter. The pizza appeared old and sad. I would've taken a picture but I threw it away too fast. I couldn't take more than 3 bites. The smash burger and cheesesteak were the better items. The meat was flavored well, and they were decent size. The smash burger i would say was a solid 7.8. I do wish the cheesesteak had a bit more cheese, seeing as that's the point of it. The downside to both these things was the bread/buns which were chewy and dry, leading me to see a theme with "Doughboy's". The wings (buffalo) were good to me, good flavor, good amount of sauce. My friend wished they were crispier, but I was just glad they had good flavor. Lastly, the cinnamon roll. Advertised as "Big texas cinnamon roll" on Doordash. It's a regular dollar store, packaged in plastic, 99¢ cinnamon roll. Maybe it's my fault for not knowing the brand of packaged rolls but I expected something different. If i was in the area i would go back for the smashburger and wings, but I think there's better places in SD to get all of these things in my opinion. read more

The Philly was bland and lackluster. The buffalo wings, bland with no kind of kick and the blue cheese was not good at all. The hubs and I gave this place a try. When we walked in we instantly recognized two customers- long time locals and friends. The guy cooking knew our friends name - so that was a good sign for us. I had been craving gyros - did not disappoint! The meat was flavorful and tender. The tzatziki sauce was scratch made and complimented the meat perfectly. The fries were super crisp and delicious. The hubs had the bacon blue cheese burger, he loved it. The self serving station was clean and organized. There were chalk walls and there were messages about a local guy who recently passed away, it's always nice when the locals feel good about a place like this. This was honestly my first time ever leaving a review because the food and customer service were THAT good. Huge shoutout to Doughboys Grill and especially the owner David "Doughboy" for being extremely helpful and having some of the best customer service I've had in a long time. You can tell they actually care about their customers and the quality of their food. I got the pastrami fries, the breakfast smash burger (I think it was the American Smash Burger), and the 3pc buffalo wings. The buffalo wings were so good I literally had to order more to go, and Doughboy even hooked it up for us. My wife got the GTA and the BBQ wings, which were amazing too. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and way better than expected. Definitely one of those spots you keep coming back to. We will 100% be back multiple times soon. Doughboy's Grill has opened in OB where a Middle Eastern eatery used to reside. Both the exterior and interior have been brightened up with red paint. The L-shaped dining area featured countertop bar seating for six customers while several tables could hold another couple of dozen diners. Pizza, smash burgers, cheesesteaks, loaded fries, salads, and a sub made up the menu categories. A few people were ahead of me in line when I arrived, one of which ordered the same item as I chose. From the list of four cheesesteaks, I selected the regular Ribeye version which cost $13.99. Caramelized onions, mozzarella, and provolone cheese topped the chopped ribeye steak. The sandwich was served on waxed paper inside a plastic basket. It was a little shorter than a footlong in length, however the meat was juicy coming hot off the grill. The reason why I couldn't elevate my rating to a full four stars was the inconsistent closing time that I encountered more than once. According to their hours of operation, the business should be open until 9 pm on Monday to Saturday. I came by multiple times in which the doors were already locked, and the lights were off by 8 pm. I wish the management would update the hours on Google and this platform because you have to drive deep into the heart of this neighborhood to reach Doughboy's Grill. read more

Hey now, there's a new kid in town in Ocean Beach and they are making some tasty smash burgers and pickle pizza. Yes! I said pickle pizza. I am telling you, don't knock it until you try it. When I walked up to the counter, I noticed a new menu item posted called the G.T.A. Smashed Burger with garlic truffle aioli, hence the name. The smashed burger also came with griddled onions, American cheese, pickle chips, and a delicious house chuck and brisket ground beef patty. The burger cost $10.99 plus tax. I notice that they offered pickle pizza, so I had a slice of that, too. I had to try the pickle pizza. The GTA smash burger was terrific. The quality burger was well seasoned and delicious. I loved the GTA sauce. The truffle sauce was subtle and worked very well in the burger. The griddles onions were a winner, too. That had great flavor and texture. The burger came on a well toasted brioche bun. It was a great burger. I've tried the pickle pizza at place in East County San Diego and it was very good. This slice was just as good. Somehow, the sourness of the pickles and the milkiness of the cheese works very well together. The crust was of the thin variety and offered a nice subtle chew. The service is very friendly. After talking to the staff, I learned that they focus on quality ingredients and simple preparations. It certainly works. Dude, my first time ordering from the here, food arrived hot and fresh. The GTA sauce didn't have that weird artificial truffle flavor. My breakfast burger IS literally so good. The chipotle mayo is perfectly balanced. My husbands Philly delicious on top of that I called after placing my doordash order because we didn't realize they had mushrooms on it and he's mildly allergic and they were so sweet to make sure they left then off. Was not impressed. Burger was a good size and looked good, but completely fell short. Absolutely no seasoning or flavor to the beef. The only cheese options other American are mozzarella and provolone, which makes no sense for for a burger. The order of waffle fries was literally just 6 fries.
