We spotted this place next to For The Win and decided to try a hoagie-style cheesesteak. They did use the correct Amoroso-style roll, which we appreciated, but the rest didn't land. The meat tasted gamey and not very fresh, and the veggies weren't cooked down enough, so the sandwich ended up wet and soggy instead of balanced. I came here for the first time the other day. It's a family owned business and the staff working were really nice. They gave me a card for the next time I come that says if I buy a cheesesteak I'll get a free side of fries. Everything is made fresh to order. I got a cheesesteak with cheese whiz and added onions & bell peppers. The fries needed to be cooked longer. They were both massive portions. I was so full after. The mom and daughter duo who took care of me were super chill. I loved the Philly steak sandwich I ate. The ribeye was amazing. So perfect. The bread is on point, soft but able to stand up to the juices without getting gummy. My wife loved their fries. What can I say except I finally found a great Philly Cheese Streak Sandwich. I found them on Tic Tok, and had to try them. I had been searching for a place where I can get a good fresh quality Cheesesteak at a good price. Found It! I have been several times and enjoyed every visit. They are family owned and operated, and their customer service is phenomenal. I dont understand the one star reviews on here. Things like not enough meat or veggies. You want your sandwich to fall apart? Do you not read? They USE RIBEYE, plus where else do you get a sandwich this size that isn't mostly vegetable this good for 12.50? You tell me one other philly place where it's just as good for 12.50 with actual ribeye. If you've ever had an authentic philly in philly, this roll is the normal size of an amoroso roll. Actually you can compare for yourself if you want. The smart and final in Tierasanta sells amoroso rolls from philly. I also got cheese fries but I devoured those so..... you tell me. My husband and I shared a loaded cheesesteak and the steak n fries. We did not regret our decision. The cheesesteak was piping hot, fabulously cheesey and meaty. The fries were also incredibly tasty and it took only a few minutes for them to prepare our order. The store has just a few stools inside and a few tables outside but is a legit eatery. I've worked 2 doors down from this restaurant since it opened almost 10 years ago. I have eaten their food hundreds of times. This is as excellent as food gets... First and foremost, for me, safety is paramount; Hygiene is about safety, and Steak and Fries is a perfectly clean restaurant. The owner, Angel, a US Marine, works there every day. He is usually seen with his wife or daughter in law with a clean neat apron and shaved head and always has something cheerful and positive to say. Their establishment is always spotless and even the back of the place is spotless. Now the food, they have Amoroso rolls delivered fresh every day. I've seen this. I can't imagine it's cheap, they are flown in from Philly and when you eat one rest assured it was baked at the original Philly cheese roll factory within the last 24 hours. It is always soft and delicious, and that's just the start. Angel brings fresh beef, rib-eye exclusively, to make his cheese steaks. He will spend at least an hour every day trimming the fat and sectioning up the best parts of beef for his sandwiches. The grill is perpetually looking so clean, I think they spend as much time cleaning every day as cheerfully preparing food. This place is the very definition of a tight ship, the whole family knows the routine and excels at delivering Angels vision of a perfect cheesesteak, which is as authentic a cheesesteak as can be had, I've been told. I would recommend this place to everyone, they are extremely confident, in the hundreds of sandwiches I've had of theirs, I've never had one that wasn't piping hot, freshly made to order, and perfectly cooked and wrapped. I've never had a bite that wasn't perfect. These days it's impossible to find a cook that is as dedicated and talented as Angel and his crew. You can tell he is passionate about this, and you can taste that he is passionate about the quality of his fare. So if you are on a date and looking to impress, or just hungry and in the area, you absolutely cannot go wrong with Steak and Fries, destined to become a landmark on the Garnet scene. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The two people working in there were super nice. Unsure if the older gentleman in there was the owner, but he was so nice. He seemed genuinely happy to be there and enthused to answer any question we may have. We were not too hungry, so we decided to order and split a loaded cheesesteak. It was yummy. I think I prefer fries on the side. The roll was yummy. Good size cheesesteak. Could have had more meat and more fries. It was a yummy quick lunch with a great guy behind the counter.
