I'm giving Doughnut Dollies 3 stars only because the past two times I have been I have had awful customer service. It has been the same woman both visits. I read a review below that mirrored my experience. The woman made me feel like I was being a bother to her as I felt rushed picking out my selection while I was the only person in there. This saddens me because their donuts are outstanding with a great variety of unique flavors. Going forward, I will be patronizing new donut shops due to poor customer service. Tip: please send this employee to Chick-Fil-A's customer service training. She needs it desperately. read more

I came back a few more times with different people. I will admit their unique flavors are eye-catching. I will give a slightly better review because I think I figured out the system. After 12: avoid the fried donuts. They get really oily and stale (don't ask how that's possible, i don't know either). If you come later in the day, I highly recommend getting their cake donuts cuz the texture remains more soft as time goes by. I can't vouch for the first batch in the mornings because I've always been there at least at noon or later... but hopefully they're better. I'm pretty sure they make their donuts way in advance and it shows in their fried donuts. It's really unfortunate because their flavors are amazing and if they can get their dough to last longer or make them more fresh, this place would get 5 stars every time! My other complaint is that their customer service is lacking lately. The person who mans the register always seems mad or upset at something. I always leave feeling like I bothered her for a donut? A business should never make their customers feel unwanted for their business. That literally makes no sense. All-in-all, their flavors are really cool. I admit that but until they figure out how to keep their donuts fresh, I'll stick with their cake donuts or just go elsewhere. For the price of one donut, I hope for more! read more

NOTE: 3.5 star rating is more accurate but I rounded up. I came to Doughnut Dollies around 9:45 on a Sunday morning and the salesclerk told me the place had already been buzzing. There was one other party when I first arrived and a couple other people came while I was there and got orders to go. The space is moderately sized and has an industrial/somewhat sterile feel to it with the exposed ducts and metal. Don't worry though, the doughnuts add the personality to this place. The total for the half dozen donuts I ordered was a little over $15. Not cheap but typical for your gourmet donut shops. As others have mentioned, the donuts here are slightly bigger in size. They had two sweet potato donuts when I went so naturally I got one of each along with the cranberry thyme (almost too pretty to eat), the pumpkin coffee cake, their signature donut, "dollie" (creme brulee), and Cinnamon Toast. My thoughts on each one: Cranberry sugar thyme - the brioche donut itself lacked any real sweetness. It all came from the glaze and the toppings. The brown sugar crunchies were good. The thyme was an interesting addition. I liked it with the cranberries. Overall the donut was a novelty and I'm glad I tried it, but I wouldn't order it again. Once was enough. The Cinnamon Toast Crunch donut was said to be a staff favorite and I can see why. Out of all of the donuts I tried this was my favorite. It's a cake based donut so it's more dense than the brioche ones but it was really good. I liked the crunchiness of the toppings. The creme brûlée donut was delicious and probably the best traditional creme brûlée donut I've had at a donut shop. Sweet Potato w/ brown sugar munchkin - the munchkin was good. Sweet potato anything piques my interest so I tend to gravitate toward it if I see it on a menu. I don't regret trying this but I wouldn't get it again. Sweet Potato brioche w/ brown sugar pecan - Visually the donut was beautiful but again I found the brioche doughnut itself to be lackluster and dry. The toppings were nice. I wouldn't get it again. Pumpkin coffee cake - It was good but the pumpkin flavor was mild (but then again so is pumpkin). Overall, none of the rotating flavors wowed me in terms of taste. The regular donuts were the clear winners in that regard. In terms of finding the place I didn't have any trouble. If you see Panera, Tropical Smoothie Cafe, and Canvas Cafe know that you're in the right place. My GPS navigated me straight there. I made a turn and saw the sign for Doughnut Dollies on the side of the building as I drove down a slight incline to their parking lot. The parking lot is small but their seems to be quick turnover so you should be able to land a spot if you wait a couple minutes. read more

What can I say about this establishment except for exceptional, gourmet donuts! With now to my knowledge three locations one in Marietta the other one in with West Midtown and the other being located in Virginia Highland neighborhood. I've never tasted something that was beyond my expectations and continuously, stay there without disappoint ever. I came across Donna dollars one day through my mother. Who at one point worked at Marietta eye clinic. And because Donna dollars with essentially right behind it when she brought home some donuts and when I tell you, the flavors were beyond accurate. I can't stop thinking about this place honestly. So much so I bring it up when people ask me about a good donut place. Yes, Sublime Doughnuts is brought up. But in my honest opinion, Sublime Doughnuts are more like subpar donuts comparatively. There's so many things on that mean you that I've had I don't even know where to begin. But to give me an example of the quality, imagine the donut that is honestly a cake when you bite into it and it taste like a red velvet cake or a Keylime pie I had an apple pie donuts . And on top of that delicious morsel is the icing. With that as something that did not only complements, but enhances the expected flavor and quality of the doughnut. Yes, the doughnuts do cost an usual amount for people who aren't used to that quality. But it is justified due to the care of ingredients of quality and to support locally owned businesses within the Metro Atlanta area. I'm say this month. I found Dollies Doughtnuts after parking in the Canvas Cafe lot. I love donuts so I decided to give this place a chance. I ordered a triple chocolate, birthday, and lemon lavender donut. When I first walked in I felt kind of ignored. I waited in line one lady was on the registered an and another lady was helping bag up donuts. The lady bagging donuts completely ignored my presences and decided to help the people behind me. That was kind of annoying. To me customer service is key and after all that I did not feel welcome. The doughnuts were not that great. The birthday cake doughnut was really disappointing. It just tasted like a plain donut with icing. The doughnut it's self was very hard and cold. For $2 a doughnut I expect a warm, delicious doughnut. I wouldn't recommend this place for the price and taste. However if I knew anyone who was allergic to gluten, I might recommend them for that. read more

This was such a GEM! The only (two) reason it didn't get 5 stars were the price and the overall high sweetness of the donuts! In general, this was such a fun spot!! The donuts were so creative!!! We choose the birthday cake, clementine, blueberry, and sweet Jane. The birthday cake and the blueberry were both cake donuts. Both were delicious and HUGE! I loved the fresh blueberry touches and blueberries in the icing! The birthday cake donut was our least favorite of the bunch, just because it seemed a bit plain next to the other fancy donuts! The yeast style donuts were out next to try! These were our favorites! The Sweet Jane was my personal favorite! It had a creamy fluffy sweet frosting like center and I loved it!! My second favorite was the clementine! It was so delicious and orangey.... it had a freshness that I truly loved! We visited late in the day on a Sunday and the selection was small. The wonderful women behind the counter threw in an extra donut into my order. I was stuck between the sweet Jane and the clementine. Boy am I glad! They were my favorites! The donuts were SALTY. I know that sounds impossible but I promise you it's true. Very excited to finally try doughnut dollies after hearing good things. The location has parking and is a decent sized shop. The staff member who served us donuts was incredibly friendly and helpful as it was our first time visiting. We tried the dollie (creme brûlée donut), vanilla old fashioned, chocolate old fashioned, strawberry brioche, and a typical glazed. I will say everything was super fresh and moist - not dry at all, but flavor was lacking compared to some of our regular donuts shops we visit (my friend and I try a lot of donuts lol). I do like how they change up flavors and have lots of unique offerings. Price wise they're on the expensive side so I'm not sure it'll be worth the drive back for us as we weren't super wowed by anything, but if in the area these are very good quality donuts and you can tell they're made fresh so I'm sure different donuts may have more flavor. The brioche donut was very different and more of a bread type feel than a donut which was awesome to try. The creme brûlée dollie donut was probably the best of all the ones we tried. They offer coffee as well so if you're nearby and want a donut and coffee it's probably worth a try. We arrived around 10am on a week day and they had a full selection available. read more

Delicious!! Went here today for the first time and I have to say it was awesome. There was only 2 employees and no customers. When I walked in the employees weren't wearing masks but the one that helped me quickly put his mask on and helped me choose my doughnuts. Wow Rachel is amazing, what a way to turn an experience. We arrived 30 minutes to closing and went into canvas to order coffee and food. The cashier was very unpleasant and pushy because she'd closed the coffee station before the doors actually closed. We ordered cautiously with a limited menu in mind. We ventured down to Dollies where we met Rachel and she was sooooo pleasant sweet and patient. She navigated us through the menu and our doughnut selections. She will be the reason we return. They have some seasonal donuts such as sweet potato, chamomile honey, and ginger orange for the winter. I tried the following donuts: Mexican hot chocolate: Soft, love little bit spicy outside and the chocolate cream filled in the donut - tasted good 4 stars Dollie: Crème Brulee look outside, tasted okay, but expect more crème brulee on the donut, no custard inside though, something is missing - disappointed 3 stars Sweet potato: Nice decoration, meringue and cinnamon icing on top, it really tasted like sweet potato - tasted good 4 stars Chamomile honey: Tasted honey on the top but nothing special, something is missing - disappointed 2 stars Ginger orange: Cool decoration with dry orange slice on top. Tasted both ginger and orange, good combination - tasted very good 4 stars Overall, some of their donuts tasted good, but not amazing. My son really enjoyed his chocolate covered doughnut but it appeared to be pretty standard. My husband and I shared a dollie and thought it was pretty good. The dollie was sweet but not over bearing which is nice. I would definitely go again but I would try to come earlier in the morning. Wife was in the hospital and saw the place from the window so figured I would try as I'm a big baked goods person. All in all I would just say "meh". While the flavor combinations are great the actual doughnut cake was way too greasy for my liking. I understand doughnuts are fried, but the grease on these was something I have never experienced. Disclaimer: I went on a Saturday afternoon around 2pm so by the time I got there, the variety of doughnuts available was pretty limited. I opted for the Strawberry Doughnut (this was the least basic of the remaining). I am also a huge fan of Strawberry Frosted Doughnuts so I had high hopes. Overall the doughnut was good but definitely not the best. It wasn't as soft or pleasantly textured like I'd like and the dried strawberry on top was unnecessary as it didn't add to the flavor of the doughnut. Aesthetically these doughnuts are beautiful. However for me the taste didn't match the appearance. These doughnuts have more of a cake like consistency. They are very heavy and to me they aren't very sweet. If that's the type of doughnut you like then these are definitely for you. However I like my doughnuts sweet and not so dense. I got the birthday cake doughnut, the nectarine shortcake and the tres leches. The only one that was "ok" to me was the birthday cake. My boyfriend liked the tres leches because he doesn't like sweet doughnuts. I would definitely say this place is worth trying though read more

Overall: Good, not great. I think I was expecting more based on what I'd heard. I will say that the strawberry basil was amazing and definitely worth returning for but the others ranged from okay to ick. I got half a dozen and only cared for three flavors. The lavender goat cheese was a nice flavor. The chocolate orange with fennel pollen sounded wonderful and it would have been minus the fennel pollen. That really ruined it though. And the Boston cream was a total loser. The cream has a very sour and off-putting taste, also mentioned in another review. This was really disappointing because Boston cream is one of my favorite donut flavors. The chocolate iced also left a lot to desire. Personally, their doughnuts are too thick for my tastes. But the texture is pretty nice and they have some interesting flavors. I just think, for the most part, they sound better than they actually taste. When I pay north of $20 fir six doughnuts, i'm expecting them to be great and I just did not feel that I got that, with the exception of the strawberry basil. It was the only one that I really felt was worth the trip and money. I wouldn't say it is likely that I would return here. I certainly wouldn't go out of my way. I feel that, while there are some unique flavors, I can get better donuts at much more reasonable prices at other places in the same area. It's a bummer because I really love unique and innovative flavors but these just didn't do it for me like I so hoped they would. read more

This is a place I would love to visit again in the future if I get back to Atlanta. They have many unique flavors to try there and they tasted great! The three that I will boast about are the Sweet Jane, the birthday cake, & the hibiscus. The Sweet Jane is a powdered donut with sweet French cream in it and was very tasty, and I even scooped up some of the cream that fell onto the plate. The Birthday cake was very delicious and really tasted like a full on frosted birthday cake! The hibiscus donut was something that I was curious about, because I had one before to disastrous results, however, the flavor, while having some of the plant taste, had a very sweet and delicious flavor that I would want to try again. I have had work mates bring donuts from here to share and they were super. BUT I had to stop in myself to really appreciate this shop. After a visit across the street to my cardioigst LOL I treated myself to some donuts! I choices were overwhelming at first then I decided on 3 to take home to share and one just for me on the road. Roadie - the Apple fritter !!!!!! Fantastic . fried crispy with apples and raisins and that sweet glaze. Home to share : all cake . The Red Velvet, Cinnamon Toast, Strawberry Hibiscus. These made it home and I shared them with the wife over coffee. We cut off pieces of all three and sat outside on the patio. Each one was superb. If you want a gourmet type made in an open kitchen in small batches donut this is THE place. If you want a bag of stuff for very little $ go somewhere else. I recently moved to Marietta, Georgia from California where I had access to some amazing donut shops. I'm a fan of simple donuts; a good glaze donut, a good chocolate donut, a good sugar donut. I'm not normally a fan of these newfangled and rethought donuts that are adorned with fifty ingredients such as Froot Loops or broken up candy bars. In my quest to find a great donut shop in the area, I stumbled into Doughnut Dollies. At first, I though it was one of these newfangled and rethought donuts shops. I wasn't excited to try their donuts until I saw that they had a creme brûlée donut. Since creme brûlée is my favor desert, I had no choice in the matter. I had to try it. Suffice to say, it was really good. I've been back since to try the strawberry donut, which also very good. As for the apple fritter, it lacking apple and sweetness. If I had a recommendation, I feel like their glaze coating is not sweet enough. All in all, Doughnut Dollies is one of the better donuts I've found in Marietta. With that said, I haven't found donut shop that makes a good simple glaze, chocolate, sugar, or white sprinkle donut, such as those I had in California. My quest continues... read more

So I didn't get to go here in person but tasted these at the taste of Marietta and they were bombbbbb. Reminded me of the blueberry donuts from krispie kreme. We got donut ice cream sandwiches.... omg amazing. They take a donut and cut it in half and then put a scoop of ice cream in the middle. I got the horchata one which was the best. The only thing I can say is that you have to see it to believe it. Doughnut Dollies is a hidden jewel in Marietta, GA. The donut are so unique and the flavors offered change so your best bet is to stop by at least once per week to get started on trying them all. The are fresh, large, fluffy, light and despite the thick, rich slather of frosting they aren't at all too sweet. My new favorite is the Salted Caramel and my go to is the Lemon Lavender. The staff is friendly, the shop is quaint and casual. its the perfect place to meet your friends or take your kids for a morning treat. This place is definitely worth a try if you like creative/hipster/alternative flavor combinations. The doughnuts are huge - I couldn't finish one by myself. My son, however, ate his entire doughnut! They brew Jittery Joe's coffee, so they get a star for that. We had creme brulee (my choice) and the fruity cereal and milk varieties. I thought the creme brulee was excellent. It had a crispy sugar coating that was just like the "real thing." My son loved his doughnut. I tried a bite and thought it was good, but not amazing. Although very pleasing to take photos of, the donuts I had purchased were quite stale and dry...Also when I went i!, the store was not busy at that time with two elderly men asking for directions and one person sitting at a table while I tried to order. The woman who grabbed my donuts and rung them up seemed very disinterested or even annoyed to be ringing me up. I will however, give props for the unique and interesting flavors that I do think would have paired well if the donuts weren't so stale.
