THREE PROBLEMS We wish we had have done our homework before experiencing the inhospitable treatment of both us and our 2 kittens. Since we are new to the area, (under 2 years) we were advised to go to DC Low-Cost Vetmore and like sheep we did. Our 2 kitty girls, just under 6 months of age went in to be fixed. We were told one price. When we arrived to pick them up, we were told now that it was $35 higher than the first amount we were given. When my husband told them that was $35 more than they had told us, they got snarky, indignant and clearly defensive! There was no need to react with such unprofessional behavior. We paid the amount, no problem, but NO one appreciates being told one price and then later told another. Then, they insult what intelligence we have combined by saying "no one there would have ever told us that price!" Hence the hushed hint of us being liars. What we think happened is that the first lady thought it was just one cat and not 2. (We did in fact tell the lady on the phone it was for 2 cats.) We made the mistake of not knowing the name of the woman there who gave us the first price. That was problem No. 1. Thus we come to problem No. 2. Picking up the crated kitties. Purrrrky was clearly unhappy and trying to adjust to coming out of her surgically induced kitty coma. Poor thing was hissing and could not settle in her crate. The lady who had been snarky with us, was also making rather unsympathetic mean comments about Purrrky being a mean cat. Wonder if she had ever had the human equivalent to what the kitty's just endured! Kitty Tilly was too groggy to move or express any discomfort. We didn't see problem No. 3 until we arrived home. We inspected the surgeries and on Tilly's tummy, there was the incision and near it were 3 burned patches of raw (postage stamp size) skin. The raw spots took 3 weeks to totally heal after scabbing over. We later learned that the surgery was performed by an elderly Veterinarian. Low-Cost is correct. Low in 'deed' and not worth the treatment by the staff. I will recommend almost anywhere but here. If you must go there, write down names and fee's and mind your animals manners! read more

This is by far the worst vet I've ever come across. I've called a few times to ask certain questions and have been put on hold for up to 30 minutes...the other two times I called I was placed on hold and no one ever came back and I tried calling back and they were closed. They were rude when I said it was a problem. Then just yesterday it was time for my cats to get vaccinated and I showed up on time. There was one girl taking pets in. She told me there was one ahead of me....then a half hour goes by and no one comes out. I called no one answered. Then 40 minutes I went inside to see if they had forgotten about me. They rudely said I had the choice to keep waiting or reschedule because there were a couple emergencies ahead of me. I said why didn't anyone come tell me this or call me. They said they were trying to call me but that's a lie. I was outside!! Waiting for nothing with my two cats in the car with me!! I can't believe they did this. The way they are running things must keep running people out of there. I will never go to this vet again. I saw the Umpqua address, thought there was only one low cost veterinary service in Roseburg, read the negative reviews, and assumed they were the place I had visited and to which I will never return. This is a terrible place. I had been going there for years before the huge staff change. I used to love coming here. Now the lady who runs the front desk is rude. She always seems to have a pursed mouth when she looks at you instead of a smile like we are worthless for even being there. The very last time I took my animals in there was the worst experience by far I had ever had there. I was one of the last appointments of the day. I walked in on time barely but I was there on time. 45 minutes PAST my appointment time for simple shots they call me to the desk asking me what shots are needed. Now I am not a vet, I trust my vet who has my animals records in front of them to know what is needed. ESP as this was the second appointment in two weeks because the previous appointment they checked his records and TOLD me he needed shots and I got a quote on the cost. When they asked me what shots were needed I was done. I answered them with "I don't know the name of the shots, the one you told me two weeks ago he was due for when you looked through those exact records. I was told at the time the two he needed would be $28 dollars." This was my third unsatisfied visit in a row. We took a cat in there that was sick but we were not official owners of. We were looking for owners and TOLD the vet this cat may very well be going home soon. The vet insisted on examining every inch of the cat, examined his mouth, pushed an expensive surgery to clean teeth onto us, tried to push the more expensive medications that didn't work any faster or better than the less expensive medications. (Low Cost is supposed to be a service not a business). After being treated like crap, the vet trying to get every dime out of us they could while the lady at the desk looked down her nose at us for simply being there, and them spending 45 minutes trying to figure out what shots were needed AFTER them telling ME he needed shots in the first place I lost all faith in them. It took them 30 seconds of looking through the charts after I told them that they told me he needed shots and the price to figure it out, then all of three minutes to take a now SLEEPING cat out of his carrier (that he hates and had never fallen asleep in before) to give him his shots and get out the door. That was not the worst part. I went home afterward and in my anger posted online about my experience at which point one of the staff member saw my post and responded with "well why don't you just tell us where we can fax your records then". We took our 10 month old dog for her initial exam before her spay. The vet checked her "overall condition," and looked at her teeth. She'd already been weighed. That was IT! No one checked her for worms or checked her ears. The place smelled HORRIBLE from the moment we walked in and the back of the clinic was cluttered with crates and supplies. We would have to come up with about $150 to get our dog spayed and vaccinated, in addition to the $25 for the subpar exam. Instead, we'll be taking our animals elsewhere. read more

this has been a more positive than negative place to take my pets over the last few years. however my recent experience was pretty horrible. the male dr. was rude and disrespectful and the woman in charge had her employees chase me out to my car to demand that i purchase medications i had not yet agreed to pay. this was after returning to the office and waiting far too long for test results(paid for) that i had requested be phoned to me. i was frustrated that i was not listened to re:treatment options that i attempted to have a dialogue about. i believe that, as a paying customer, bringing my pets in to be examined and given treatment recomendations, i, and my pets should be listened to and treated with respect as i give them as medical professionals. this was not the case in my last visit. read more

warning, be very aware, office ran by jesibels. i had an appt made day before, 3 sickly kittens. the appt was for 2:30, i was coming a long distance, so had planned this well in advance. on the road i got a mssg and returned call shortly thereafter, was 1pm by this time and already in roseburg. i immediately called their office and was advised to were going to cancel this appt due to another emergency, but told me clearly i was welcome to arrive at 2:30 as planned, but likely would have to wait duration of day for 'their' emergency. i am disabled, and upon arrival, i positioned myself in office with the sick kittens, my brother immediately left to go to health store for some immediate homeopathics, 10 minutes later he returned only to find their staff yelling and attacking me over being in their office. i am a heart patient, which i made them aware of, but their continual harrasing me created an afib for me. my brother upon returning gave me nitro glycerin and this prevented heart problem becoming worst......all this due to the 3 women staffers verbalizing badly toward me ......i also requested if they could at least help me find another vet, since i was 75 miles from home, and they responded "would not help" .....after leaving and going to another local vet, turned out the kittens had pneumonia, this vet was stunned as well at the behavior of this earlier vet.......they in fact were obligated to at least access the kittens, proprietor of this establishment should be asshamed of such behavior in her office ......i could say alot more, but at least letting the public aware of such bad behavior read more
