We just had an excellent experience with Douglas Water Conditioning. Allison showed us all of our options to improve our water conditioning system from our 17 year old system that was not operating correctly. We chose the system that is hooked up to our WiFi and a phone app that allows us to keep track of what is happening with our water usage when we are traveling. We will know if there are any leaks or running toilets. Joe installed our new system and a new Reverse Osmosis system that we also decided to install. Jason Smith responded to my first inquiry about Ecowater reverse osmosis system. In 2021, after a conversation with him they sent a technician who installed it in our home. Now, we get purified water in the kitchen. The technician was very considerate (he wanted to make sure not to wake up our newborn) and cleaned up after he was done. I didn't feel like he rushed through and explained things clearly to us. I drop by their office to buy new filters every year. Through the whole process, I was explained things clearly and wasn't bombarded to get things I didn't need. So, yeah, after a few years of working with them, I would highly recommend them. read more

Absolute worst customer service ever. I have been a customer for a few years. Two months in a row, I received 5 gallon containers that were frozen solid. Last month one container busted open in my garage, causing water to go everywhere. This month, I received 4 containers that were frozen solid. It took 24 hours for 1 of them to defrost. Keep in mind, I had to bring it inside and had water all over my floors. When I called and asked for a manager, they said someone would call me back the next morning. I called back at noon and the manager was "at lunch". The manager finally contacted me after 4 pm and began harassing me over the phone. I wanted to let him know that I never would have accepted a delivery of frozen solid containers. Scott was extremely rude, said I was rude to his delivery people (I never saw the delivery people). Scott knows they were wrong, but didn't admit it. He does not know how to run a business. Why would anyone want frozen 5-gallon jugs of water???? read more

Resin tank failed due to the pick up tube filter was damaged during tank construction. You would think they would fix immediately, but no. Six days later the tech comes with no tank. I have been using Douglas Water for many years for all things Water conditioning related. My experience with this company began with the need to replace my Sears water softener which had a mean time between failure of somewhere on the order of 5 - 8 years. Being an engineer and wanting a more robust product I talked to the experts at Douglas who steered me to an EcoWater Softener system that has robust construction and efficient softening operation where it uses a fraction of the salt my old Sears units were using. The unit was definitely more expensive initially but in the long run the unit is still doing its job 11 years later with no problems and a significantly reduced salt usage profile that has actually resulted in a significant lifetime savings over the old Sears models I had purchased in the past. Aside from Water softener, I get all my salt (High quality Dura products) from this business and have used them for my reverse Osmosis Walter filtration needs as well. They also do free water testing to assist/guide you in assessing your water quality and conditioning needs. Relative to the business itself, the folks are always friendly and very knowledgeable and will come to your house to give you a free quote and guidance to address your water conditioning needs. Additionally they load the heavy salt bags into your vehicle (without you requesting it!) which is definitely a key aspect to keep in mind if you are older or struggle to lift heavy objects. I had a water softener and reverse osmosis installed in my home. The service rep was very helpful, answered all my questions and walked me through the entire process. The install team was very courteous and polite. They walked me through the system after the install and again answered more of my questions. Now two months in I got a follow up call for the system. I was having issues connecting the wifi to the softener. My rep called me and immediately and had his service manager call me to walk me through. The water softener itself was a little pricey, but I think for what I got it was worth it. Definitely will buy my salts from them moving forward and highly recommend them. read more

I had a great experience from Douglas water. I just purchased a home in the area and have never had well water. The helpful staff of Douglas Water were quick to respond to my request for pricing and showed up the next day for quote and water test. As new residents to the area Douglas Water was flexible with their price as a welcome to the neighborhood. We had them install a problem water/iron filtration system - ETF2300PF Series. Along with this they also installed a carbon filter for free with website coupon. I installed a water softener separately because the ECOWater systems ones were a bit too expensive. They are distributors of made in USA EcoWater Systems units. These systems are at a premium price but you get what you pay for. My only complaint is I didn't have them install the pre-filter I bought for my system, but I can do that at a later date. Pros: Great Service, right down the street. Good Warranty Great equipment. We had Douglas Water Services install a new water softener system and I have to say in all the years having well water it is the best I have ever had. Plus the way the installer put the 2 filters in place with ball valves for super easy replacement,Top pipe fitter! Then like most people I have been so busy I called in for a delivery of several bags of salt and filters...the arrived when it was scheduled in the worst snow of this winter the guys were so helpful,thoghtful, nice they even filled my unit as my wife was home but I asked for it to be left outside and they wouldn't think of it. Fantastic service provider. This past fall all of a sudden we had a water emergency. Rusty water appearing everywhere, showers,taps,toilets etc....... With Well water rather than city water i feared the worst. But Douglas (actually Eric) to the rescue. Those of my friends that have Well water do not use DOUGLAS Water Conditioning. One of the worst experiences I've ever had. I ordered salt 3 weeks ago. I explained that I'm recovering from Hip surgery and that I'm unable to haul the salt in the house from outside. They promised that they would deliver and put it In my mechanical room and fill and adjust my softener. They also said they would call ahead of time I explained that no one is home until after 2:30pm they said no problem. They have shown up twice when no one was home and didn't call so I had to call them to reschedule. Today was the 2nd time they called at 2:00 and said they were in the driveway. I told them no one will be home until 2:30 the delivery guys starts to give me a hard time on the phone and I tell him my daughter will be home in 20 minutes he states I can't wait I'll have my office call you. I immediately call their office I'm pissed off beyond belief at this point. They stated that it's the end of our drivers shift he wants to get back so he can go home. UNBELIEVABLE!! I have been trying to talk to any ONE of the 3 owners, and they have been unavailable to over 2 weeks! They charged me for "a service call" for $88, only because I didn't know to ask for "a tune-up" at $35. So when I called the next day, and explained it to Renee, she argued that "a service call" was what I asked for. I explained that Ron, the service techician, even told me that "he didn't do anything but make a couple adjustments". He agreed that it was probably the salt clumped together at the bottom and was most likely remedied when I dumped hot water on salt the day before, since I had to wait 4 days until they could come out). So I have called back, and I've talked to Renee, Debbie, Stacey....each time having to repeat the entire story..... and each time, they all say they will call me back in a couple days! There apparently is NO office manager, and God forbid if someone has a Real Emergency to speak to the owner. According to these ladies, Scott (the owner) is 'completely unavailable'! Just so it's clear..... that while I may sound very frustrated, and quite frankly, very pissed off.... when I first called into Renee to talk about my situation, I was not mad or "pissed off". But now after numerous attempts to get ANY sort of response from ANYbody, yes!...NOW I am really ticked off! read more

First they did not did not return my initial call. Then after a week I called them back and they said I would need my entire system redone and that would be $250-$500 for a half hour job. I have used them for many years for salt delivery. I get bags delivered twice a year to the basement. I always feel sorry for the poor guys carrying them down, but that is what I love to pay for, so I don't break my back doing it. Also, a year or two ago our water softener died, they offered me a new or refurbished replacement, I took the refirb and it works so much better then my old one and uses much less salt. I will never ever use them again for anything. Cheaters, money is their motive.. I had an old but properly working water softener, I called them for a annual maintenance check-up, just for preventive maintenance, otherwise this system was working great. A technician came and cleaned the system, said everything is all set, nothing to worry at all. Since that day the system started leaking (a lot), I called them again and another technician came and said this seems to be a old leak from a long time back and now have become worst. I told him that since your other technician came, it was working fine, and even he wrote this thing in his report. Then I got a call from some manager, and I was told, that since this is a old system, it can fail anytime, its just a coincidence that it failed the same day our technician was at your house. We don't have anything to do with this leak. If you want to repair it its $1000, and if you want to put a new one its $2000. First technician said, its working great, second technician said, leak seems to be very old, then manager says, it's just a co-incidence, and nothing to do with us. Very displeased with Debbie at the Waterford location. I was told the service call was $89.00 so I didnt turn it into the home warranty company and since it was under my deductible amount. Now once the tech leaves its $98.00...I will for sure look around for another company to come and replace my water softener. 4 months ago when I bought the home a service tech came from Fenton to test the water and tell me about the unit but in the process he stated that I did not need the filtering system that is there with the water softener. He disconnect the filtering system and now I know longer have a working unit and I'm being told that it needs to be replaced ($2650.00) or rebuilt ($1,200.00). read more

We received very poor salt delivery service from the new and young delivery men from Douglas Water Conditioning. They were very unprofessional and unreliable. I waited several times for salt delivery and they were a no show. When they did show up they were not friendly, polite or professional like the previous Douglas Water Conditioning delivery men. They even refused to wear shoe covers that we had always provided to the previous delivery men for 6 years. We kindly took the time to call the office a few times to let them know about the unprofessional service from the new guys, however nothing changed for the best in the service. We stopped using Douglas Water Conditioning in September 2014 for salt delivery and switched to Culligan of Ann Arbor/Detroit. We couldn't be happier with our new service. The delivery is prompt and on-time and the delivery person is friendly, professional as well as willing to wear shoe covers or take his shoes off. read more
