Stopped in here for being highly rated for not only cakes but more specifically carrot cake…read more The staff was friendly and there's tons of baked goods all around the small space. Your head almost spins trying to see everything. Thankfully I was there for one thing. I ordered the slice of carrot cake which was pre cut. Which I typically try to avoid but they said that's what they had. We chatted briefly about extremely sweet icing and cake preferences before paying and leaving. The cake itself almost had zero sweetness to it which made the icing taste extremely sweet and unbalanced between to two. Even by itself the icing was very sweet. The cake , probably because it was precut and sitting for who knows how long, wasn't very moist. While not unbearably dry it was pushing the line of being too dry. I think a fresh cut slice would be way better moisture wise, but still unbalanced sweetness. I'd like to see what else the city a has to offer cake wise but I wouldn't call this one particularly great. I'd call this 2.5/5 but can't give half star reviews. The cake being the main reason for the visit and being kind of dry and unbalanced impacts the whole experience

I know you're thinking, "there's no way that tasted good" but it did! My sis has lots of food sensitivities that cause her auto-immune eczema to break out so we avoid all those allergens. My sister LOVED this cake! I wanted a special cake for her 30th since she hasn't eaten cake in 5 years! Christine from Baking Sweet Scents was up to the challenge and spent time with me listing ingredients so we were completely sure it was safe. I really appreciated the time and effort. Christine also deals with some allergens so she understands the difficulties. I selected the chocolate almond flour cake, double layered, semi-naked, with stevia instead of sugar, and macarons on top to be nestled into the specific flowers I wanted, gladiolus for August birthday month. The cost for this custom cake with all the specific ingredients was so reasonable. I will be ordering another smaller one for my grandmother's 80th who also avoids sugar and gluten. I see this trend becoming popular, thanks Christine!

I have had several desserts including: macaroons, brownies, cinnamon rolls (definitely recommend these :-)), cookies, and many others! They're all delicious. While watching her bake via Instagram it is obvious that she puts time, effort, and prayer into each piece. Thanks Mrs. Wiethop for all the past and future goodies!! :-)

People coming in and standing around waiting for either an online order before they came to the store, or an online order placed in the store, then you have workers trying to get out to take cookies to the curbside delivery(which was a lot faster than the other three ways to order). You also have the option of placing an order to a live person. After placing my order while waiting in line a lady asked me if I got my two free cookies, nothing was there to let me know this(on purpose I'm sure) there were other people that missed the free cookies. I got the four cookies for $14 and some change, I don't remember exactly, and the phone receipt didn't come up on my phone, this place is so disorganized. I understand it's new, but it's been open for several weeks now. Back to the cookies, I ordered online in the store, I got the two milk chocolate chip, the pink velvet cake and a banana cream cookie, that's served chilled. The chocolate chip was my favorite, these cookies are pretty big and they're big enough to share. The cookies was warm and chewy and crispy. The pink velvet tasted like a sugar cookie, the banana cream was interesting, with banana pudding and a vanilla wafer on top. Now the cookies do look like the cookies dancing on the website, and they have a good taste to them. Hopefully they will get more organized as time goes by or by the time I go in there again. The three stars are for how disorganized it is. Will update later.

The coffee was great--I ended up going back again during my two-day stay, which says a lot. They also host pop-ups from local businesses, which is a nice touch and fun way to support the community. Parking can be a bit tricky, but we found free parking a couple blocks away. Also drank my coffee too fast and forgot a pic... but the fact I went back again tells you everything.

I went in for some pastries and everything was laminated and a chocolate chip cookie. Nothing really stood out and everything looked like they left it in the over for a few minutes too long. Everything was baked hard and looked close to tasting bitter and over done. I know some bakeries claim that's the French way but we're not in France. We can not borderline burn things. Anyway I considered the almond croissant But it looked skimming like 4 sliced almonds on top and I just knew the inside wouldn't have nearly enough filling for me. I finally settled for a baguette since I was already there and made the drive from Atlanta, I had to buy something. The baguette was decent and had a nice sour Dough flavor. No complaints about it Service was ok. Felt a little dry over all but nothing horrible or great.

The cafe is to the left upon entry and the bakery and display is to the right, and what a display!…read moreA Greenville staple for over 75 years, they moved to this location in 2002 and have been named by Southern Living Magazine as the #4 best bakery in the South. The old adage that "we first eat with our eyes" is on full display here; pictures cannot do it full justice. And the smells of the bakery and cafe add to the sensory experience. The bakery side infuses flavors in their treats with flavors wash technique (typically on unbaked products and based on egg and cream mixture) that ensures moist and tender cakes or pastries. One example, for the forthcoming Kentucky Derby they had a cake washed with mint and bourbon that included a mint layer of icing and a bourbon based layer of icing inside the cake to achieve a "mint julep" cake. Of several items we purchased, mostly the cake part is standard white cake with flavor added and very nicely decorated. If one were to judge just on taste, it's essentially a good white cake, the "wow" comes from the decoration and somewhat the flavors. Heavy on the icing. But that is the decadence many want, and it looks great. I had the key lime pound cake and it was good, but a lighter example compared to Granny's (my Granny), so that's an unfair comparison, but it was lighter than anticipated and Granny's isn't the only pound cake I've had. The key lime was more subtle than the visual and mostly came from the glaze. The visual was so good, I asked if we could buy by the slice and the staff agreed to slice up a full cake for my slice and since they were getting low on pre-sliced available pound cake options. My wife loved it all! They do have take and bake casseroles and the cafe side has great sandwiches, an admirable Reuben if I remember. We must come here more often as it is very good and convenient and Granny took here recipe to the grave years ago, (RIP).

This place is a Greenville staple. It is the perfect spot for soup, a sandwich, and a fresh treat…read morefrom the bakery.
