Last two visits were very poor. one was very rushed and fast. She bumped into my nails twice lol and made sure she didn't smudge them. Polish stayed on poorly also. she never bothered to seal any nails! the second was awful. a different Polish started major chipping and peeling within 10 hours! she didn't seal one nail--I noticed-- and sure enough it chipped within 6 hours. I've never had this happen before. I've decided to stop using them. they are expensive and quality is low. read more

This spa is very clean and atmosphere is pretty inviting. However, I feel it has gone downhill in that the technician didn't really listen to what I wanted. There may have been a larger language barrier than I was aware of but I felt that she also up sold me, pushing me to get gel and to elongate my nail length. I was seriously confused. Been here many times with my sisters and daughters. The only reason we keep going back is for the massage! Pedicure is nice and relaxing but like the manicure is eh depending on who you get. I've had my brows butchered twice, do not recommend a clean up. The massage staff is separate from the manicurists. These guys are just waiting to step in and massage - that is all they do. Been going here for years for normal manicures and pedicures. I don't do gel. Manager is lovely and most of the operators are warm and friendly and do a consistently good job. Certainly consistent with all the other similar nail salons in town and in the city. I find Dove cleaner than many of these places and easier to do a walk in. Sometimes they get busy on weekends or holidays and I have found that they respect reservations if I take the trouble to call ahead. Normal selection of Essie and OPI colors. I never do massage here. I needed to kill some time so I stopped to go into Starbucks and saw this salon was next door.. instead of a coffee and some reading I decided to give this place a shot and headed in! Upon walking in there was a lady behind the desk likely a manager which was great instead of the usual walk in and talk to someone while they're doing someone else's nails. She smiled and I picked a color. Hannah did my nails and she was very sweet- I got the wax dip which was great and they do wash your hands first which made me feel like they had high standards of cleanliness. Everything was great- they opened all sanitized tools INCLUDING the files in front of me and asked if I wanted cuticles cut or pushed which I appreciated since I never cut mine. I have naturally long nails no gel polish or acrylic is used so I've had some bad experiences with salon workers making my nails an inconsistent length and/or shape when filing them. Hannah did a beautiful job and kept them long and even length. Also, I decided while she was filing my nails that I wanted a different color than I originally chose. I liked a color I saw on the gel polish shelf so I told Hannah and another woman looked for me and came back with three very similar colors (since I didn't want gel) and I decided on this OPI earthy green color. They were so nice, not rude or annoyed at my change. I will definitely be going back here again! Great service and very fair price even with the wax dip it was just $12 for a manicure. read more

NOT SAFE FOR A BLACK WOMEN I have been going to this nail salon for a couple of months now. I always ensure that I tip generously. This particular afternoon I didn't have any cash on me and had an event to attend shortly thereafter. After saying goodbye and thanking for service I headed to my car. A couple of minutes later, I look up to see a women knocking on my car window. Incredibly caught off guard and immediately uncomfortable I roll down the window to see what was wrong. I suspected that they thought I didn't pay for service. So I ask is everything okay and then proceeded to let her know that I already paid for my service. The women replies "you need to tip for service. I told her that I didn't have any cash on me at the moment and that I would tip next time. I also let her know I had an event to head to shortly and don't have time to come back inside. She then proceeds to tell me that I must tip now. I told her that I have been to this salon several times and have always tipped generously. I didn't have the time or the cash today. Thinking the issue was resolved I proceeded to role up my window. The women puts her hands in my car in an attempt to stop me. I am in utter disbelief at this point. I please ask her to remove her hand and to let me go. She does not. So I continued to roll the window up until she removed her hand from my car and backed up to drive off. This was an incredibly humiliating experience. To be chased to my car for not tipping! The irony is during my time there I saw several women walk out of the salon without tipping. They were unbothered. It's so disheartening to have experienced this today. I actually came on yelp to get the address of this place to recommend to a friend and was surprised by some of these bad reviews. I don't usually write reviews but thought I'd share my experience because they treated me very well. I was in the area for a work related meeting and my nails and eyebrows needed a quick touch up. I wasn't expecting anything different from my usual nail salon but when I entered, the staff made me feel comfortable and the lady in the front (sorry forgot her name) was especially friendly. The place was clean and the atmosphere was busy yet very organized and not chaotic, which I liked. Anyway more importantly, nails were done perfectly and my eyebrows were done exactly the way I asked. The price was reasonable too. It says $$$ but I think it should really be $$ if I were to be honest. Obviously I would recommend this place and wished I lived closer so I can come here more often. I called to ask how much it would cost to get my gels nails taken off. The woman, who I believe is the owner, told me $5. I drove over. When I get there she says it's now $10. I said the person on the phone said $5. She was like "that was me, but now it's $10. Get a manicure too and it's $17" Very tacky to lie and say it's $5 only to change your mind when I get there and make it $10, and then suggest $17. So pretentious. Went to Dove nails since I still had a gift receipt from the time when Dove was the best! Nail technician appeared to be inexperienced, nervous, or new. She cut my cuticle. It's been 11 days and my cuticle just started to recover. I had to wear a bandaid every day. I paid an enormous amount of money for a French manicure and pedicure. I asked for one of my fingernails to be redone because the white tip didn't look good. She kindly redid it and I felt bad and didn't say anything when the owner asked me if everything was good. I wouldn't have written the review if I had healed quickly or if the nail technician gave me a courtesy credit for my next trip. I think her name was (Hannah). I left paying 150.00 with tips. I would never go back. I don't regularly get manicures but I've never been cut and I probably have had at least 40 in my lifetime at 4 other salons. Owner needs to remind her new staff to take their time and not rush. I personally was not in a hurry so I'm not sure why she rushed and was clumsy. I went in for a pedicure. Was traded up to a spa pedicure with poor disclosure of content and price. The seat was broken or the attendant had no idea how it worked but insisted there was no reason for me to change seats. She kept telling me to push different buttons. For $57 the seat should work. I kept saying so because the machine was punching me in the back. She changed my seat finally. And then switched beats completely with This seat better! After telling me the other one was fine. A bit of an attitude from her thereafter. Oh and this seat after trying unsuccessfully I left off. At least it wasn't punching me in the back I feel for the male massage attendant that works with her. I will not go back it wasn't worth the price, time or effort. read more

I've been going to Dove for years. The owner is very sweet and polite as she ushers you to your chair for a manicure or pedicure. I hadn't been to the salon for awhile. She recognized me right away and was genuinely happy to see me. The salon is exceptionally clean and all tools come from a sealed, sanitized pouch. All of the girls who work there are courteous and professional. Your mani/pedi is followed by an amazing massage at the drying table by one of the men. They have a great selection of nail colors and various services. Their prices are a bit higher than some other salons in Norwalk, but well worth the extra cost. I'm picky about nail salons, I really really care about the hygiene and attention to detail. The tools they use come directly from a sealed sterilization bag. Big plus! And they use a new file and buffer on each customer. There was a great selection of polish, including the new Essie colors :-) My nails look fantastic. Clean edges and shiny and smooth. I did opt for the up charge for better topcoat, $2, which I think is worth it, but may not be to some. The mani and topcoat were $14. Unfortunately they have a $20 minimum on cards. Big minus. The ATM in site charges $2. :-( But then I got the best massage of my life, completely included in the mani price. I mean a ten minute deep tissue massage while my nails dried. OVERPRICED! The women take advantage and upcharge you for anything. I went in for a gel fill and at the end of it all, they wanted to charge me 80 bucks. After asking what extras they were charging me, they took 10 bucks off. I told them I would never come back if I'm going to paying that amount...that's the price of a new gel set. They charge 5 dollars extra if you want a different color on ONE nail, which does include if you choose to use a matte top coat. I told them if I knew that was the price they were paying me, I would have never stopped in. For anyone considering this place, I would avoid going here. I must admit...I am a tough customer when it comes to nails. I just moved here from NYC and I had been going to the same nail guy for 15 years. Having said that, they were quite speedy (although as a new yorker, I like that) and my nails were pretty much as good as it gets. The place is immaculate, and the UV Gel fill in is about what it is in NYC. However the pedicures are much higher in price. I had originally come for acrylic (which they do not do) but the UV Gel was well done. The polish was very well organized and lasted, as well as the pedicure. This establishment has been declining slowly over the past three years. They now have resorted to up-selling additional services convincing you that you deserve the extra splurge. From the $5 keratin socks or gloves to the $10 callous remover you need, however if you upgrade to the spa pedicure, it comes with it for an additional $40. Or what about the shellac polish that lasts longer? Or the $1 top coat that makes your polish not chip? And if your getting a manicure, what about a pedicure. And if your getting a pedicure..... don't have time for that? No problem we can do it simultaneously. Then there is the extra benefit of a shoulder massage while your drying - with just enough "feel good" so that the masseuse asks repeatedly if you want a chair massage, if that doesn't work, he insists that you really need one because you are really tight because you work to hard. And if these techniques weren't pressure enough for you to indulge in, maybe their comments spoken in native tongue to each other will change your mind. I would have given them five stars if they hadn't rushed through the pedicure and the manicure - they were busy so a quieter day might have been a nicer experience. I had a spa pedicure where the foot is dipped in paraffin wax but they cover people's feet in plastic wrap so the whole benefit of the wax is lost - it never touches the skin. My cuticles weren't perfect and some loose skin around one of my nails was painted over with polish (didn't notice it until I got home). So, they aren't the best I've ever experienced, but they'll do until I find a better salon. They were very, very nice and courteous though. read more

I have to say for the price I paid today, I am thoroughly disappointed with the service I received. I came in with my child and asked for 2 mani/pedis. They quickly rushed through her mani/pedi and she was done within 15 minutes, which would be fine but not for 25 dollars and a sloppy job. While I was getting mine done the technician made a suggestion that my feet were dry and needed a callus removal and I said ok, not realizing she was up-selling me to a spa pedicure. That's partly my fault as I should have asked if there was an extra charge, however, if I wanted a spa pedicure I would have asked for it to begin with. I didn't realize I had agreed to it until she started doing the additional work. Slightly ticked off I just went with it. For what I paid, the entire pedicure was rushed. Callus removal was very quick (I probably didn't even need it) and my cuticles weren't cut. The only good that came from this was the massage which was very long, however that's not what I came here for, and it was also performed by a different person. After she painted my nails she brought me to the dryer and asked me to pay... I didn't even bother to ask for the manicure, realizing that the $85 didn't include it and I didn't feel like shelling out more than I just did. I walked out with no manicure and highly disappointed. Not to mention the nail polish on my nails and toes started to chip the next day.....they didn't even look professionally done to begin with! SO glad that I had a birthday gift certificate to use for pay because my own money would not have been given. For what you get it, the prices should be cut by 80%.
