Sadly as much as I would like to, do NOT use this business for your landscaping needs unless you want broken promises, C- work, cement with 10 foot crack, issues with drains, lack of follow through. I paid in full for a project in our back yard, was quoted 3-5 weeks, paid in early December and job was recently finished last week of March. When I say completed that's with plenty of issues in left to deal with as owner takes no ownership. "He's busy" "he warned me" I have everything in writing and kept a trail of all the broken promises. His way of "making it right" doing a free seal over the cement, the one with 10 foot crack in it that he "warned me of" but never did. He did suggest pavers, which were double the price. But to have a 10 foot crack with in 5 weeks of install is a joke. All of my drainage is currently clogged, he states not his fault, but in the only house with this issue due to work he did. I'm going to have to now pay someone else to come fix it, still have a broken sprinkler, multiple drip lines still not working, and more. Sadly though I have him months to make things right he never did! Zero ownership, zero compassion, zero responsibility. Horrible follow through as was mislead countless times he was showing up to fix things. Both my neighbors got work done by other business, paid EXACLTY what I paid, and there jobs are nicer, finished and NO ISSUES! Ryan is very rude and would not suggest to use his business for anyone.

I *highly* recommend Ryan and his crew. When we first started the project, Ryan came out to our house and designed something far beyond anything that we thought was possible. Once the project kicked off his team worked tirelessly to complete the project. They were never late and, in fact, were usually early. We are in love with the finished product and now instead of having a backyard that we're embarrassed by, we now love hanging out by our fire table (which Ryan also recommended). The cottage-like feel is exactly what we envisioned and now we feel as if we have an entire additional room. Our neighbors were so impressed that they hired Ryan on the spot to do some work for them as well.

We often hear the saying "you get what you pay for" in a negative way....I'd like to say that we got what we paid for and it was worth every penny! Ryan worked with me over a couple of months to get my vision figured out and a quote that was also inline with my expectations. Ryan and his team showed up everyday - on time. They were professional and showed a ton of pride in their work. The end product was EXACTLY what I envisioned! We will definitely use them again for any landscaping projects. Our yard was dead grass and weeds...

Ryan and his crew did an amazing job with our front/side/backyard. They worked very hard each day. Ryan has an great mind for detail and initially asked a ton of great questions before providing a quote for the work. He considered many things that previous contractors did not inquire about. We greatly appreciated his experience and attention to detail. The pavers, pergola, sod, plants, drainage, and material selection turned out amazing! As you can see from the before and after photos it turned out fantastic. We are very pleased and highly recommend Down and Dirty Landscaping.

We bought our home about 10 years ago and we really never did anything to up grade the back yard or fix issues from the previous owners. We reached out to several contractors and settled on Ryan because of his down to earth manner, attention to detail, and competitive quote. The work was done in a timely manner and I think the results speak for themselves.

Ryan and his team transformed our dreary and sad looking backyard into a beautiful space to enjoy some fresh air and space to entertain. Ryan is professional, prompt and very responsive! When we had our first meeting, he told me they could get the work done in 1 week. I was reluctant to believe him, but he and the team got it done! I was amazed and elated. I HIGHLY recommend Down and Dirty Landscaping. Ryan Haro will not disappoint. Many thanks to him and his team. I have included pictures of before and after. Enjoy!

Ryan and his crew did a fantastic job on installing a new drought tolerant lawn in my front yard. He is very knowledgeable and his quote was fair and accurate. He has a great attention to detail and he and his team are very hard working. He and his crew cleaned up the job site afterward and did the job in less time than originally quoted. Also worth noting: he answered the phone on the first ring, came out right away, quoted and started and finished the job the next day!

I can not say enough great things about Down and Dirty Landscaping! Ryan came in and transformed our brand new homes dirt backyard into an awesome, drought resistant oasis. He did a raised garden, pavers, and pad for our spa and a gorgeous pavers pad with bench for our new fire pit. Everything is lit up beautifully at night. During the day our yard is a great place to sit with a cup of coffee or have a large gathering of friends. Ryan did what we hired him to do! He has integrity on his jobs and does not just tear up your yard and leave you sitting, as many contractors will do. If he has to pull off for a day he will let you know. Once they get started it is magical how quickly they transform your yard! Ryan has the most respectful and hard working group of workers I have ever seen (my background is construction based contracts), so I know first hand how great it is to find a company with integrity. The one bit of advice I can give the consumer is to do your homework ahead of breaking ground. Get your plant choices written down and order your spa and fire pit as soon as work begins. Things like spas and fire pits take many weeks to arrive and vendors do not have them in stock. If you are choosey about plants and trees, I'd take the time to go to a nursery and write down exactly what you want. Ryan can get most anything! In conclusion, and work you have on your home is going to be stressful and sometimes things go awry, that said have a drink and let Ryan handle it... He will go the extra mile to see to it that you are happy!!! We are!!!

We love our new backyard by Ryan. It's obvious that he takes pride in his work! He worked with us & made sure everything was just right!

Love our new backyard! From a patch of dirt to a lovely area for relaxing and hosting friends. Ryan and his crew were dedicated to making sure the job was done right. With a great sense of humor and a contractor who actually communicates and does quality work; you can't go wrong.!

He replied promptly. During our communication, Renzo's clarity, persistence, knowledge and patience impressed and persuaded me, not to mention his very reasonable quote. Instinctively I knew I could trust Renzo and he is the right guy for my project, even though I haven't met him.  So I waited a month and hired him. The wait was worth it. They built three walls and one patio, redesigned front left yard by grading and building a new pebble pathway with statue, installed lighting and irrigation system that had better dripping rings. They also revamped the driveway that made it look brand new and pebble-covered the right front yard.  It was truly a remarkable experience. Not only they did an excellent job with fine craftmanship, but their punctuality, hardwork, efficiency, know-how, discipline, organization, respect, kindness and neatness were a force to be reckoned with and an inspiration beyond a mere landscaping job. They take pride at what they do and the result is phenomenal! Before and during the three-week construction, Renzo was very respectful and made me feel my opinion matters. He was responsive, accommodating, flexible, easygoing and honest. He listened. He always showed how it would look. When something didn't work out, he was open to suggestions and assisted with solutions. I felt he had my best interest. The level of care to my plants led to high survival rate during transplant. I also noticed one of my trees was magically recovered from disease and the other was vigorously blossoming, which has never happened before. They brought life to my garden. Everything was done very nicely. They cleaned up the whole place and it was much better and cleaner than when they started. They also showed up for additional work as promised. Renzo and his crew transformed my old and messy space into the most beautiful and meaningful garden/haven that I could have only dreamed of. With the new lawn, now my garden has never looked better. I spend more time there and enjoy it more than ever. Renzo at Total Landscape is the best! I highly recommend them!

Huge thanks to Matt, Danny and the team.

Another very happy customer of South Bay Design and Landscaping…read more We had South Bay out to do a full demolition of the existing "landscaping" from when we bought our house and the installation of an entirely new plan from our landscape designer (check out Dawn Engel- she's great!), which included a patio space, a pergola, driveway extensions, hogwire fence, raised planter beds, and a side gate added to our existing fence. These guys do not mess around. Demolition went insanely quickly, and our property was kept neat and tidy the entire time. We never once saw dirt tracked anywhere by the crew, which we can't say the same for any of the other contractors we've worked with (and we're actually quite happy with some of them!), and which becomes even more insane to think about when you consider the nature of landscaping work. Installation went as smoothly as South Bay possibly could have made it. Any time we ran into the occasional hiccup, as happens with all nontrivial projects, Matt, Danny, and Marcus offered thoughtful suggestions and made sure to confirm exactly what we wanted before proceeding. (We had either or both of Matt and Danny on-site most days of our project, and interacted with Marcus via email.) We were delayed a smidge by some heavy rain, but the crew worked through all but the worst of it (talking "if you step in that mud, you're going to lose a boot" type of rain). Partway through the install, we discovered that the previous landscapers had managed to make the L-shaped pathway leading from our driveway to our front door square with nothing- which wasn't easily noticed until we had the planter beds in and hogwire fence line chalked out. (South Bay had laid those out properly square to the driveway and house, as per our plan.) Matt, Danny, and crew were thankfully able to accommodate our request to fix our pathway up by picking up each segment and pushing the out-of-square part over by 4-6 inches; this added about a week of extra time to our project, mostly due to the fact that not all of the pavers could be reused, and that the pavers had actually been discontinued (!). The guys worked around this by sourcing very similar pavers in a different size, and basically cutting and grinding them to match our existing pavers. Post-install, the only way you'd know there are two different pavers in our pathway is if you'd seen it being taken apart and rebuilt. Plants, irrigation, and lighting all went in straightforwardly after the hardscaping work was finished, and Danny gave us a complete walkthrough of all our new outdoor systems. It's been about a week since our project was completed; the plants are all thriving, and we're still ecstatic about our new yards (and so are our neighbors!). In short: we had a fantastic experience working with South Bay Design and Landscaping for our landscaping project. They take pride in doing a quality job, and it shows in everything from demolition to day-to-day jobsite management to the finished project. If you're looking for landscapers, these are your guys. (Special thanks to Matt and Danny for graciously handling my incessant "are you sure you didn't forget about such-and-such little detail?" questions and never once forgetting about any of the details, and also to Sergio for spending basically an entire Saturday morning troubleshooting what ultimately turned out to be a manufacturing issue with our pergola.)
