I started as a patient here at Downey Dental 5 years ago and it is by far the most professional and pleasant experiences I've ever had a a dentist. All of the dentists and staff make everything easy and put me at ease. Other dentists in my past have concerned me about unnecessary procedures BUT not here. I started coming to Downey Dental after my dentist told me that the office he worked at in downey handled braces. I was already thrilled with the service from his office in Glendale, I decided to make the trip to Downey for the same experience. Firstly, parking is kind of crowded on the streets, I believe they had a small lot, but I generally park street side. The office is modern but cozy, and the ladies at the front are always welcoming and great remembering the patients! My experience here has been one of the best dentist experiences I've ever had. (Only 2nd to my main dentist office!) The rooms can be a bit tight, but they are very efficient. Dr. Park is very thorough with every check up. She is very clear with her explanations and Shes always very friendly. Can't wait to get these braces off! But I couldn't pay better people to cause me such discomfort! Went in recently as a new patient and I was not super impressed. Went by the yelp reviews and my insurance and chose this office. Pros: The facility is new and beautiful. The back office dental assistance was great and friendly to conversations with. The dental assistance in the back did apologize saying they were short staffed. Cons: The dentist was so so, I had a cleaning done by the dentist, which I didn't know was a normal practice. I usually have an extensive regular cleaning by a dental hygienist and this was the first time ever the dentist did it. It was a mediocre cleaning and done in probably 10-15 min. Also, the machine in the exam room I was sitting in was apparently not working and a technician interrupted my exam so he can work on the machine. If it was previously known the tech was there they should have put me in a different room. I was given a quote for the dental work I needed which seemed to be a lot considering I regularly see a dentist every 6 mo. None the less, I went to another dentist and paid cash for it for repeat work and second opinion. Also, on the way out, the girls at the front desk were not to welcoming and didn't even set an appt for h next visit. read more

I really REALLY hate going to the dentist due to his or her inept skill with teeth but Dr. Chung is by far the BEST dentist I've ever had. He's very skilled and careful so that you feel minimal to no pain at all, and he builds personal relationships with his patients. I recently got two root canals and had them crowned but he was very efficient at his job and made sure to be very meticulous about everything which made me, as a patient, feel at ease and form a mutual trust bond between us. He constantly asked if it hurt to make sure that I feel minimal to no pain and would try to keep me entertained so that I wouldn't focus too much on the procedure. All in all, if you want the best dentist, go to Dr. Chung and you will NOT regret it at all. read more

It's crazy to say that I love it here. It's a dental office. I had such a phobia about going to a dentist that I hadn't been to one in around 10 years (I know, that's gross, don't judge me). The receptionists are great, polite and their customer service is on point. My doctor, Dr Myung is super nice and is very gentle. During my deep cleaning he did everything he could to make the procedure painless and I hardly felt anything. Kept checking on me and asked to raise my hand if I felt any pain so he can stop and add more anesthesia. I 've seen the dentist more in this one year than ever and I'm actually okay with that. (1) Claudia on the phone made this place look bad. She rushes you thru the whole process. She interrupts you and doesn't let you finish up your question. Then she replies you very hurriedly with a harsh tone of voice which is wrong for a call receptionist. You don't feel welcomed & satisfied thru the whole process. No matter how much pressure,the job is to treat everyone good. Other dentist's office will listen to you very cool and explain and make sure you are satisfied before concluding. Very friendly staff! I didn't dread the visits, so that's always a sign of a great team. I especially liked that there was a tv in each exam room to keep you distracted from whatever was going on in the room next door. Honestly, the shots always freak me out but the Doctor does a great job at distracting you from that pain too. Absolutely love this dentist! My daughter who's is 6 was so at ease, not scared and very happy with her dentist. The service is always above and beyond. I am a medical professional and I set the bar high because I do my best to provide it and I can honestly say without any xx reservation they met that! The Dr.'s were patient, explained everything, encouraged questions and answered all questions.. (and that was just for my daughter). Then, there was me, I honestly was a little nervous for my daughter, she needed xrays, injections, cleaning and fillings. She did amazing with the Dr. "No tears, no looks of fear and not one worry." That says a lot. I did take her to a previous dentist who said they specialized in children and were awful. They insisted in administering anesthesia without even assessing my child, which is why I refused to go back. The dentist here did not even bring up that option.
