Met the owner yesterday during Meriden's Yulefest, such a great lady! Went back this morning for breakfast. I got a western omelette, home fries & rye toast. Food was great! Omelette cooked perfectly. Go check it out, support local businesses!

I love the garden salad with pesto dressing! I ask for roasted red peppers and provolone cheese. 2 of my favorites I love the personalities of everyone who works there. They make me feel special. We also have fun as we talk about our days. Like a family

Came here to try a breakfast sandwich and coffee recommended from a friend . They did not disappoint. Very charming inside and plenty of seats. The woman that took my order was very pleasant and good with kids. She helped my six year old decide on his drink( strawberry milk with whip cream on top.) I ordered a maple walnut coffee and it did not disappoint. Nutty and mild roasted ! We also ordered a hot cocoa. Sandwiches were two sausage, egg and cheese and one bacon on hard rolls. It was really good. Very filling !! They have a nice menu I will post a picture. Salads and sandwiches and more . Definitely will be their regular customer. They are right downtown just a block from the train station and across the street from the police station .

    Nice chicken panini

A quick google search brought up Yelps top ten Diners in Meriden and what brought my attention to Huxley's was how open and spacious the layout was in the pictures. So glad we choose to try it out... Jamie was an incredible waitress from beginning to end. We had questions from the menu because it was our first time and we wanted to make some substitutions. Not a problem and every thing was right! Not only were our orders exactly how we imagined them, the food came out before we knew it! We made a joke while eating that we would've still been waiting if we had gone anywhere else. Extra lemons for our waters and hot fresh coffee when we ran out, Jamie was truly aware of not only us but her other guests needs as well. The menu had us deep in thought because we wanted to try everything. We love a good omelette so I knew either way we were ordering one. Made to order and it was exactly what my girlfriend was craving. The fried egg sandwich with ham and bacon on a roll was on point with delicious freshly made home fries. French toast was made to perfection for us to share so we could get a little bit of everything. This was truly an incredible experience that we'll not only be back again for ourselves but when we have family visiting and need somewhere accommodating for larger parties. Not only do they have the space with large booths, Huxley's provides a great experience which is hard to come by. Come by and check them out!!

Onto the drinks and food which were so delicious and truly enjoyable. I got the Beachy Bee Iced Latte special, which is a honey vanilla latte with a coconut cold foam and toasted coconut on top (simply divine)! My fiancé got the cappuccino which was made just to his liking, and he's a coffee connoisseur. For food, I had the Bumble, which I highly recommend, with scrambled eggs, subbed with the gluten free sourdough bread (+$2 up-charge) and cheddar instead of American cheese. It's served all day and had so much flavor with that garlic butter, and the seasoned steak. Yum! If you are gluten free like me, you will appreciate that they have the gluten free sourdough bread or a gluten free wrap to substitute with. My partner had the Basic Bee with bacon and thought it was flavorful with light and fluffy scrambled eggs that complimented the bacon well. Overall, I would really recommend this place if you're looking for a breakfast or lunch in Wallingford!

I normally try to give places the benefit of the doubt, but our experience at The Bees Knees Bistro…read morein Wallingford was honestly very disappointing and upsetting. My family and I arrived while it was raining outside with our young daughters in strollers, expecting to sit down for a meal and get out of the weather. Instead, we were told we could not come in with the strollers and essentially felt unwelcome the moment we walked through the door. As parents of babies who are still too young to sit safely in high chairs on their own, the strollers are not optional for us , they are necessary. We were not being disruptive, rude, or inconsiderate. We were simply trying to have a meal as a family. Rather than attempting to accommodate us or show any understanding, we were left feeling like having children made us an inconvenience. What made the situation even worse was the fact that it was pouring outside. Any level of kindness or flexibility would have gone a long way. Instead, we felt embarrassed, frustrated, and honestly shocked by the lack of compassion and customer service. Families with young children already face enough challenges going out in public, and experiences like this make it even harder. We ended up leaving and taking our business somewhere else that was far more welcoming and understanding toward families. It is disappointing because we were genuinely looking forward to trying this restaurant, but first impressions matter. A restaurant does not need to be "kid-centered" to still treat parents and babies with basic respect and decency. I completely understand that restaurants may have space limitations or policies, but there is a respectful and compassionate way to handle situations like this. Instead, the experience came across as cold and dismissive. There are many restaurants in the area that are happy to accommodate families, and moving forward those are the businesses I will continue to support. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will not be returning and would not recommend this restaurant to families with infants or children who still require strollers or extra accommodations. I wont be going back and giving them .you business, nor will I be recommending this place to anyone. Totally rude and discrimination towards those with babies. I did not feel cherished like their website says every guest is. Its sad because this will and im sure does effect their business. I will never give them my business after yesterday. No attempts at accommodating us or evening offering to let us sit outside, lazy staff, but yet there were 3 teenage girls taking names for the wait list. What a joke.

I started following them on social media, specifically Instagram, when they popped up, promoting some sort of book club activity. It sounded like something I'd be interested in the future, so I made sure to keep tabs on this place. While scrolling I saw they were having a perfume pop-up, and I didn't have any plans that afternoon, so I figured it was a good time to finally check it out. I made sure to skip lunch so that I'd have room for coffee and a pastry while I was there. The space is definitely cozy and it feels like you're hanging out in someone's living room. I ordered just a simple cappuccino and an apple danish which was warmed up for me. The woman at the counter told me I can have a seat, and that she would bring it over to me. I decided on a seat in a separate room, where there were small tables so that I can put my food and drink down, and because I had brought a book. The perfume was set up nearby, and I had a nice conversation with that woman, as well. There was a band setting up, but I did not have a chance to hang around and listen. The danish was very good and so was my coffee. They post on their social media often and it seems they have a lot of cool stuff going on. I hung around for about one hour and it was only later that I saw online that they have things for purchase, so I will definitely have to return and browse. I'm excited that Meriden has this cool spot and I'm really looking forward to visiting more often.

This last attempt, there was a bunch of staff around so I got the full experience. The staff were very friendly and informative. They explained the pottery painting side of things to anyone painting a piece. They had a wealth of knowledge in that regard, explaining how to get the best results for each medium. I wasn't here for the pottery, I was here for the food. So they sat at a 4 top and let me go up to the cafe to order. The menu is basic, egg sandwiches, avocado toast, French toast, coffees and lattes. Some fresh baked pastries available but mostly simple dishes. I opted for their French toast latte and an egg sandwiches with bacon. Also got a cinnamon roll that was baked that morning. Food came out after a few minutes. Not speedy but not slow. Took some pics and dug in. There's a fundamental rule that I follow when reviewing. "The flavors on the description need to match the flavors of the dish." There's sandwich did this exemplary. The garlic aoli had a strong but slightly acidic bite to it, which helped the arugula's bitterness. The egg was fluffy, the tomato grilled and salted, and the bacon perfectly crispy. The soft home made bread was almost too soft, compressing down to nothing after each bite. If anything, the bread could've been grilled to give it a bit more structure. But besides that gripe, it's one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had. The latte, that's what took the star off. The coffee is giv beans, so a good quality product. The problem was it was extremely, overbearingly bitter. With a French toast latte, you'd expect the sweet to counteract the bitter. But nope, the sweet came from the cold foam and the concentrated coffee at the base led to straight sips of cringingly bitter coffee. After mixing the cold foam into the coffee, it became more bearable. But the damage was done by that point, and my pallet was shot. Had to dump most of the coffee. Overall, it's a neat place to go to. It's rare to have activities along with good food, and the staff there make the experience great. Not too much a fan of the specialty coffee, but the food is well worth the price. A solid food choice for Main Street.

I always get the tea service, which comes with a bottomless pot of tea. They have so many teas to choose from, including decaf and herbal versions. During the holidays, they update their tea list to reflect more seasonal teas. Service is always impeccable, the food is always fresh, and there is a consistency to this place that rivals many.
