French toast, stuffed with bacon and maple cream cheese. Side of home fries. Build your own omelette, which comes with toast and home fries.

PHENOMENAL BREAKFAST. Good atmosphere, super nice staff, and clean! The food was amazing. Must get the home fries!!!!! Honorable mention: Wall of hot sauce! You can choose from countless hot sauce to use on your meal.

This little diner on Main Street in Portland, CT was a pleasant surprise. Small place with several small dining areas so it gives it a homey feel. Small menu but food was very good. The service staff seated us immediately on a Sunday morning. The staff was very personable on our way out as well. I ordered a special - breakfast tostada with home fries. They were very good. Home fries are fried potatoes not from grill. Coffee was good but servings for juice were on the small side. Mostly street parking for restaurant. I'd return.

On Main Street in Portland is a kind of ramshackle house which is where Sarah's on Main is. On street parking seemed to be what's available (no problem finding a space). There are 3 rooms inside where they serve breakfast & lunch. The floors are a bit uneven, but that just lends itself to the charm of the restaurant. There is a specials board with daily hash, soups, etc. Service was fine - we got our coffee soon after sitting. However, it took a while for the food to arrive, even though it wasn't crowded. I had the brioche French toast (really good) - a short stack was quite filling for me. The omelette my husband had was very good too. We tried the corned beef hash because reviews said it was good, and it was. Homemade If we are in the area, we'd definitely come back.

A kitchen far from home Were in the area and looked for the best breakfast spot around. This one was highly rated, so we came to this restaurant to try. We found a spot to sit in this smaller location. Servers were present but busy, so it took some time to get someone's attention. Opted for their special waffle: a Belgian waffle with chocolate mousse, coconut cream, and almond slivers. Also got a single piece of French toast to try. Girlfriend got the hash special, with liguica, poblanos, and corn. Either done corn beef hash to try. Good took a long while to get to us, and when we eventually got food what we got was lackluster. The highlights: the waffle had a good flavor and the corned beef hash was slightly over seasoned. But I don't mind salty, so I appreciate the heavy hand on the seasoning. The rest fell flat. The waffle toppings were pretty much pudding mixes spooned onto a waffle. The coconut cream had no sweetness and no coconut flavor, the special hash was lacking any flavor beyond potato and corn, which was a shame. The biggest crime was the French toast. It was made with spite, and hit every wrong note a French toast could hit. Not soaked, no cinnamon, no sugar in the batter, the piece was an end piece so it was mis-cut. there was no syrup, no butter, and nothing offered. Nothing about the sad piece of French toast was salvageable, and I would be willing to discard this misstep if the rest of the meal wasn't as bad as what I got. What we got was from a kitchen that very much was done for the day, our meal was a flop in every sense of the word, and the end result reflects that. I suspect that they might be good, but our meal doesn't show that. Maybe our experience was abnormal? But I don't swing by this location often enough to make the attempt again. Approach with caution, go in for basic breakfast fare and expect basic and you should be okay

Wow. I wasn't sure based on it looking like a house with many rooms... but wow. The food was amazing. I started with typical delicious diner coffee and asked for the bacon and hash scramble. I've never had corn beef before but this was stellar. I wish it had a little bit more egg, but honestly, the bacon and the hash were so perfectly cooked and tender. The hashbrowns were just 10/10. They needed nothing extra. I added tobasco to my scramble for a bit of a kick but it didn't need it My husband got the southwest scramble and ate it quickly. The veggies were fresh and crisp. He loved the cinnamon raisin toast. We split a pumpkin pancake with vanilla glaze. They were huge, moist and flavorful. All of the flavors were strong and not muddled. It was perfect. The only criticism was the waitress that helped us was not friendly. She seemed annoyed the entire time. But regardless we will be back

An absolutely adorable breakfast/lunch spot. It's homey/cozy vibes. We all loved our meals and had a great time. The servers were kind and efficient. It's worth noting that given their popularity it was noisy and busy. 5/5 :)

    Devoured.

I pulled up to this place and it was not what we expected. It's like this little hole in the wall but it's a house! and the food... Sooo good! The breakfast is fantastic and the slanted table is quite fun to sit at!! I stopped in here for lunch before a wedding and I was full all day. The owner was so nice on the way out! The staff were wonderful!

Highly recommend. Great food and service and able to accommodate my gluten and dairy allergy even having gluten free toast.

10/10 would recommend for a great breakfast meal. The home fries and homemade corned beef hash are a must have! The maple bacon and cream cheese French toast was very filling and would rate that dish 4/5. Service was great, and the ambiance in the restaurant was very pleasant!

This is one of the places that is always a crowd-pleaser when we have an office lunch. The Keith is good as well as the California Club.

Inside, the tables are simply yet tastefully decorated with candles throughout, creating a cozy atmosphere. Even the bathrooms were thoughtfully decorated and adorable and no detail was overlooked. They offer a great variety of seating options, including bar seating, high top tables, standard height tables, and window seating, so you can really choose the vibe you are going for. During the winter, they even have lit igloos outside so you can stay warm while sitting by the river, which is such a unique touch. My waitress was also tending bar, yet she remained prompt and attentive the entire time. She gave me space to look over the menu without making me feel rushed, but never disappeared long enough for me to wonder where she was. Even as it got busy, she handled everything seamlessly. The service was excellent. However, I honestly wish I could say the food lived up to the atmosphere, because the ambiance definitely sets high expectations. I ordered the short rib risotto and would probably give it a 6 out of 10. The risotto itself was fine but could have used more flavor, maybe something earthy like mushrooms to bring it together. The short rib was cooked well, but it lacked the depth of flavor I was hoping for. Overall, the dish did not quite come together as a cohesive plate. It was not bad by any means, it just felt like it was missing something. I also ordered the Italian Gabagool Sub with salami, capicola, mortadella, provolone, lettuce, tomato, roasted garlic, olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper. It had all the right components and sounded amazing on paper, but it ended up tasting fairly bland. Typically an Italian sub has bold dressings and seasoning that really make it pop, and this one just did not quite hit that mark. Honestly, the fries and pickle were probably the standout items food wise.

I do wish there were more signs, as both the parking lot and the entrance felt a bit vague and easy to miss. Once we finally found our way inside, we were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere reminded me of another local tavern. Staffed by friendly people. The food was good, and the overall experience was enjoyable. My only disappointment was the lack of information about the history of the establishment. There is a lot of marketing that references its connection to a jailhouse on the menu, but very little information is actually shared within the tavern itself. I found myself wanting to learn more about the story behind the place. I also think it would be fun to add a photo-op area--perhaps even outdoors--with a set of mock jail bars where guests could take pictures. It would fit the theme and add a memorable touch. The tavern itself is fairly small, so I can imagine it gets quite crowded during busy times. Overall, it's definitely worth checking out.
