Chicken fried steak, two over easy eggs, fantastic potatoes and white toast. The sausage gravy was so good

So delicious, I'd definitely go back. But, if you chose to eat your whole serving, you'll probably want to nap. The wait staff were attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love mismatched chairs and tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We were in town for a couple of days, so we ate here twice. The first time we brought to go back to our motel room, the second time we ate at the restaurant. Our to go order, I had the corned beef hash and eggs, and my partner had the blueberry pancakes. She liked the pancakes very much. She said there were a good amount of blueberries in them, and everything tasted very good. The corned beef hash was delicious. The corned beef was tender, the potatoes in the hash were Tender and tasty,, and the eggs were perfectly over easy. The one problem I had, was instead of potatoes on the side, I asked for fruit. For a very small cup of fruit, I was charged $3.50. I wish I would've been told about the upcharge over the phone, and I would've probably just picked the potatoes instead. The fruit was good, I just had a problem with not being told about it. The next day, we ate at the restaurant, and again, everything was very good. My partner had the grilled cheese sandwich, which again she liked a lot. She said there was a very good amount of cheese, and it was just delicious. I was excited to see that they have poutine on the menu! I love poutine. Lake Placid it's not that far from Canada, and they do get their share of Canadian tourists, ergo, poutine! The fries were crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside, the gravy was nice and Rich, and there was a very good amount of the cheese curds. I loved it very much. Other than the upcharge the first day, the prices were very reasonable. We would definitely come back again. Thank you.

Classic breakfast, 2 eggs scrambled with home fries, sausage patty and rye toast. Single blueberry pancake with poached egg on the side.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute diner with old school vibes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Excellent attentive service. Food was good, standout was the sausage patty perfectly griddled. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Definitely a good spot with a family feel and good prices.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Corned beef hash. I asked for well done. Chunks of corned beef.

Great corned beef hash!!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice clean establishment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Couldn't ask for more. Nice people too.

I really like this place but it has gone down. First let's start with the food. It was fine nothing special. They used to serve home fries but they replaced it with mediocre hash browns. The eggs were eggs nothing of interest. The toast and pancakes were fine, not great. The server and service really brought back a star. The food came decently fast and the server was nice. Also the coffee and drinks came back is seconds!(ok maybe I'm exaggerating) [[HIGHLIGHT]]the inside was a classic diner look, something you'd find in other places.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The price was also a stare giver. But i guess you get what you pay for. Will maybe be returning, id give it a try though if i were you.

    Enjoying some delicious eggs Benedict.

Loved this place. The hostess and host were both super friendly and fun. Waitress was nice. Atmosphere is funky and cool, loved all the kitschy decor, especially the colorful chandeliers. It was BUSY so service was a little slow, but it was mid morning on a Sunday so I totally expected that. Food was all good, the corned beef hash was good, sausage gravy was solid, but the hit was the eggs Benedict. It was great. Will definitely come back here next time we're in Lake Placid

This place is hoppin! The folks who run the place are amazing and full of life! They are quick to turn over tables and keep folks coming in! The food is fantastic and so worth the wait if you can't get in immediately. Could not recommend the biscuits and gravy more! I live in Alabama and was blown away!!

Don't be fooled by the exterior, this is a hidden gem in the heart of Lake Placid. If you are looking for a great breakfast place - look no further! We are large family group of 16 & upon sitting down to our table we were warmly greeted by Chef Woods who purposely made his way from the kitchen to our table to welcome us to the restaurant & mention that he hopes that we enjoy our meal. We order breakfast, our pictures are attached, and the food was fresh & delicious. Our eggs were made to order & perfectly prepared. Our omelettes were fluffy & light. Pancakes & French toast were delicious- light, buttery & fluffy. Menu is small but covered what typically is ordered. Prices were good & provided value to what you received. The meal was immediately prepared & serviced hot. Once we finished our meal Chef Woods emerged from the kitchen once again to enquire how our meal was. He clearly takes pride in what he serves & it shows & we appreciate it. We have been coming to the Lake Placid for over 20 years & we struggle with where we can go with our family for a good meal to start our day. Many of the other options around town are a complete miss in my opinion regardless of their ratings. I almost question where they get the rating in the 1st place b/c the food that is serviced is over priced, subpar at best & management is almost annoyed you are there with a large group. Be aware of the other breakfast spots from the most exclusive to the trendy others. Our experience at Downtown Diner was overall an A+ so much we retuned for a 2nd try the next morning only to have another fantastic meal & we can't wait to return next year! Thank you to Chef Woods for an outstanding meal 2 mornings in a row!

    2 dudes eatin good :)

He was polite, extremely personable, and gave a great recommendation to me on the quesadilla, which turned out to be spot on and was DELICIOUS! I couldn't stop saying how good it was. I also got a flight of 5 beers, which themselves were each unique and enjoyable. Overall we didn't expect much going to a Mexican themed restaurant at a brewery, but we left very impressed and happy we gave it a go. Thanks to Rylan and the kitchen, we had a great experience and would highly recommend giving them a try if in the area. Also I'd note that it was almost empty (A Sunday) when we arrived at almost 5:30, but by the time we left there wasn't an empty seat in the place. So it seems they got a good thing going here

I have a bit of a story about Generations. Seven years ago,…read moremy family stopped in while visiting Lake Placid and, unfortunately, it was a pretty rough experience. After waiting over an hour for our food with no updates in sight, we finally left hungry and declared we'd never return. (We've all made dramatic vacation proclamations before!) When we got home, I wrote to the restaurant, and Natasha, the manager, personally responded with a sincere apology. She explained they had been incredibly short-staffed and invited us to come back if we were ever in Lake Placid again, promising a better experience. Well, seven years later, my sons found themselves in Lake Placid with friends and decided to give Generations another chance. They asked if Natasha was still there, and amazingly, she was! Not only that, but she remembered my email from all those years ago. This time, everything was wonderful. Great food, attentive service, a relaxing outdoor table, and happy young men!--which is review enough! To top it all off, when they asked for the check, they were told the meal was on the house. Natasha's kindness, grace, and commitment to making things right left a lasting impression. Thank you for turning a not-so-great memory into a great one. Cheers to Natasha and the team at Generations!

The beef on weck was more of a French dip sandwich (cheese on a beef/weck??). The buffalo chicken dip had bacon, which overpowered the dish, unnecessarily. Service was slow. Or appetizers came out after everyone finished their meal... If you're from Buffalo, hoping to have a taste of home, I'd avoid any buffalo dish here, unfortunately.

Drinks were messed up and orders had to be repeated about 3 separate times. The restaurant was not busy, so I'm unsure how this could've happened. Some of the food was good - those who got the french dip sandwiches enjoyed it, as well as the wings. However, the black bean burger and beef stroganoff were average. It didn't blow us out of the water. The stroganoff had good flavor but was sitting in a pool of oil so that put some people off. I am visiting town, but unfortunately I would not come again if I return to Lake Placid due to the disorganization, errors, long wait for food and lack of food quality to make up for the prior problems.
