Pads, sticks, sizing, what's required, pricing, what's optional, I was overwhelmed before I even walked in. At this point I've been here a few times and I'm quickly becoming a regular. My very first visit was with Ethan, and I hoped I'd run into him again. I was so relieved when I did. He walked my son and I through the entire store, helped size my kiddo properly, explained what everything was for, and answered all of my many mom questions without ever making me feel silly for asking. We were actually the last ones in the store right before closing, and not once did I feel rushed or pressured. As a mom trying to make sure her kid has what he needs (without buying the wrong thing), that meant so much. I felt supported and accommodated during what can honestly be a stressful process. I hate seeing negative reviews. Yes, the staff is young, but they are incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and kind. They take their time with you. They don't rush through fittings just to move on to the next person. So, if there's a bit of a wait, it's probably because they're giving another family the same care they gave mine, and I truly don't mind that at all. The staff here is wonderful. But Ethan is our favorite. We always hope he's there when we come in.

The store is located behind the GLP (Goal Line Performance) and they also have pick up/drop off services to different ice rinks around the area. I took my son's hockey gloves in for repair due to a large hole outside of the palm. Due to COVID, the new gloves will take a longer time to arrive. I spoke to Chris (the owner) over the phone and he provided a quote for the repairs. The price was very reasonable. When I picked up the gloves I was amazed! The gloves look like new and smell great! The employee pulled up my receipt by my phone number & my son couldn't find an exact replacement, so I paid the difference on the higher end stick. So thankful because I could not find the physical receipt! Gear, recreational knee hockey, replacement parts, tape, wax, laces, wheels, ice / roller skates...they've got it all. The selection of protective gear in all sizes is hung up neatly and easy to find. They're well staffed and I've never had an issue trying to find something as they're quick to offer assistance. Bathrooms are clean and spacious. A nice stop to take before / after going to the rink to enjoy the AC and a well kept bathroom. IYKYK. Another nice perk we experienced was the Bauer scanner which measured the pressure points in a standing scan & provides a suggested size of skates. My younger one really needed new ones! Within 5 minutes of walking in, I knew this place was different. Came here for a sharpening and the guys showed us what a mess my son's blade was! He was pretty much skating on 2 points! What!? While we waited for the blades to be fixed, Jon played hockey with my son and Cole gave us great advice about equipment and shares with us Surfside Hockey's vision (some exciting stuff!). I don't think a store has ever won my loyalty and trust as quickly as this team at Surfside did today. More importantly, he sincerely apologized for our experience and invited us back so he could make things right. Bruce offered to take back my daughter's skates and replace them with a different pair to ensure she was completely comfortable and happy. I realize that because my daughter had already skated in them, he would likely take a financial loss since they could no longer be sold as new. As a business owner myself, I understand the impact of that and appreciated his willingness to stand behind his customer service. At this point, it has been about two weeks, and my daughter has adjusted to the skates and is no longer complaining about discomfort. Because of that, I decided to keep the skates rather than exchange them. While our initial experience was frustrating, I believe it's important to recognize when a business owner takes responsibility and genuinely tries to make things right. Bruce showed that he cares about his customers and his reputation by offering a solution, even if it meant taking a loss.
