Pleasantly surprised, based on the reviews! There's plenty of parking, although if you are coming from the south going north toward Broadway, the first parking lot is a lot for loading and employees. To save a few steps (and to be in the right spot) make sure you go to the second lot. The exterior felt quite industical, and the post office sign had a very retro vibe, like it had lived in Louisville for awhile. Someone should clean that thing, because I swear, it is feeling historic. Inside, may feel a bit dated in certain spots, but their are gift cards, greeting cards, and plenty of packaging options to choose from. Plus, a passport sation for our convenience. Most importantly, the employee behind the counter was super sweet and efficient, making her way through a busy holiday line swiftly. Bonus points: super cute baby animal stamps! read more

They refused to deliver my package because it's "too big" for my mailbox. The mail room is LARGE and it is UNLOCKED because we live in an apartment complex with an open mail room (the apartment complex buzzer door is locked). They had plenty of space to drop it off but when we went to go tell them we expect our package to be delivered into the functioning mail room they said "well if someone steals it it's on you"- OUR APARTMENT COMPLEX MAIL ROOM IS AN OPEN ROOM THIS IS HOW IT IS DESIGNED WILL YOU JUST NOT DELIVER OUR PACKAGES ANYMORE IF THEYRE TOO BIG FOR THE MAILBOX??? I drive a small car which is why I have large packages delivered in the first place. I am giving this post office a five star rating because I have never had an issue while seeking services. Each time I have visited to purchase a stamp book, mail letters, or send a larger package, my transaction has been processed efficiently from a friendly postal worker. I like the location of the building the most. I have the benefit of being able to walk only a couple of blocks from my apartment for my postal needs. There is a decent sized parking lot and mailboxes out front for outside of business hours. read more

I have been reporting this post office for the last two and a half years probably just before pandemic they do not deliver five six days a week usually it's too sometimes three we're lucky if it's three just complaints going answered phone calls going answered you can't even get through to customer service the supervisor unreachable complaints are unanswered I have had male held critical mail dated mail that they have made me miss appointments for getting the mail a day after the postmark date for business responses critical this post office is so poorly ran and it's been that way even before the pandemic I have complained to USPS numerous times no changes.. very poorly operated and ran. I am at my wit's end with this post office it's just sad very sad that nobody cares that nobody's really doing their job at that 7th Street Post office.. oh forget it read more

I am currently on day 8 of calling this office and not once has the phone been picked up.

This post office is the worst. They haven't lost one, not two, but THREE of my packages. I won't give you all the gory details of the first two experiences. This is the current situation. I've been tracking a package, when I receive a notice in my email it couldn't be delivered due to not having a secure location. (This post office likes to pick & chose when they will leave my packages.) Frustrated already, I go home to get the slip they've *maybe left me for pick up/re-delivery (they pick & chose when they want to leave those too, thus, I always have to track my packages). They're only open 8am-5pm Monday through Friday. How convenient - the exact times I work, too! I hate going on my lunch break, so I decide to go into work five minutes late the next day & get my package. Next morning, gentleman tells me he can't find my package. I assure him it's there, & show him my email. He says it's probably still on a truck, & he'll call me in a few hours. Great, guess I'll come back on my lunch break. I call before leaving for my lunch break, which, took me ten minutes to get through on the line before a rude woman answers. She tells me it's not there, it's at another post office. She assures me it will be delivered the following day. Are you surprised my package isn't here? Because I'm not. Called USPS to help me find my package. He tells me the package WAS at the post office that morning, he doesn't understand why the woman would tell me that, that my package is at a sorting facility, & he'll have it returned to the post office... & the post office will call me Monday to pick up my package. I'm going to be so surprised if I get a call from the post office saying they have my damn package. read more

My husband went in around 8:05am because he needed to get to work. The lady behind the counter told him after 3 packages she needed to suspend his transaction so she could take care of people behind him. He was a paying customer and needed to get to work. There was only one postal worker. I say Howdy with a big old Texas drawl and he suddenly came to life. I needed to mail some insurance policies and he asked me if I needed insurance.....made he and I laugh that he was offering me insurance on the insurance policies. Wish I could ZERO STARS. This post office not only sends back packages because they dont feel like delivering them, lies when saying they deliver things on time so they dont have to refund on a guarenteed shipping, but I also have tried calling three times and on the third time they will pick up the phone, you will hear movement and they will HANG up to stop the ringing. read more

All I needed to do was process an application for a passport. I called the branch near my office at 400 S. 4th in Louisville. The woman on the phone set a day and time. As we were finishing, I confirmed that they did do the photos. She said yes, however, their camera was broke and I would need to bring my own photos. Glad I asked! When I arrived for my appointment, I was told that they do not process these applications at this branch. I commented about all the signs and the website saying they do, the employee said he didn't know, but I would have to go to the 7th Street Main Branch. When I arrived there, I was greeted promptly but with disgust for being 15 minutes late. I explained what happened and was told that happens a lot. Really? I was then told my IN Certificate of Birth Registration was not a real birth certificate. I understand, but that's what was given to me nearly 40 years ago and has been used and accepted ever since. I was then told that I could not expedite a Passcard. I explained that was not what the website said and I quoted the prices listed. The clerk looked again and said, Oh here it is, I guess you can. As I was asked to pay, I was told I could not use a credit card. Again, I said there is nothing in my paperwork or on the website to the contrary. He said if you look at the fees section, which he did and I pointed to the part about major credit cards are accepted, he said "well we have never taken a cc so you have to have a check or debit card". I did not want to use my debit card, but I did under protest. This branch does not accept credit cards? No signs to that effect either. At this point, I was happy to leave and make my 1.5 mile walk back to my office. read more

WOW! Their mail carrier on our route is HORRIBLE!!!! I have been down to the local Post office on 7th street to complain about packages NOT being delivered and IMPORTANT mail being placed in the wrong box. I get email "tracking" messages on my phone from the Post Office letting me know when my package is being delivered. Well, our postal carrier NEVER brings the packages up to our door. He ALWAYS put a brown slip in our door and MAKES us go to the post office to retrieve our packages, which is a GREAT inconvenience. We have complained many times to the supervisor, but the mail carrier continues to do the same thing over and over again. Today, we got an email alert saying our package was out for delivery. When out mail carrier arrived, I decided to video record his actions, and low and behold, he didn't disappoint. He stood at his mail truck and filled out several brown slips and tossed the packages back in the truck. When I went to check my mailbox, the "brown slip" was in the mailbox. This is unacceptable, unprofessional, hateful, disgusting, rude, negligent and gross! I am thinking about filing complaints to someone other than the local supervisor! We now believe he is doing this on purpose simply because we have complained to his supervisor in the past. read more

HORRIBLE! Never answer the phone when you call. Front Desk people spend way too much time talking to customers instead of taking care of others. Lines are always long. When you call, don't EXPECT an answer. And when they do, they will pick it up, then not say a word. They will then leave it off the hook.
