I understand it is not easy working in customer service and that it can be a thankless service. That being said, I will complain when it comes to my child. Our newly 3 year old daughter has taken many tumbler/gymnastics classes as a 1-2 year old and she has always loved it. We felt that she outgrew these and we wanted to try something new. My wife went to Scats as a kid and had a great experience, so we thought it would be a perfect upgrade for our daughter now that she is 3. We set up our initial trial for an evening class and were excited to try while also being nervous as our daughter can be a little reserved at times, especially in a setting as big and loud as SCATS, but we thought it would be a good opportunity for her to break that comfort zone. To our excitement she went with the instructor without any fuss. I want to remind you that this is her first time in the class and at this gym, so she has never done any of these routines or exercises. She of course was reserved and a little slow in doing some of the movements, but she was attentive and consistently looking at the instructors for direction. After 2-3 times of the movements she had it down and was keeping up with the class. My wife even took a video because we were so excited that she was doing good and you can clearly tell she is having fun and learning the movements. But from the beginning we could tell one instructor (I believe her name was Kelly) was clearly frustrated with our daughter since she wasn't getting everything immediately. In the video we took of our daughter as we were excited to see her doing so well, you can see Kelly is clearly annoying when showing her how to jump correctly. Kelly was not friendly or seemed annoyed most of the time. Our daughter naturally gravitated to the other instructor (Kylie) who took her time with our daughter and was very kind (constantly smiling and giving her reassurance). After 30 minutes they took a water break and the frustrated instructor took our daughter by the hand and called up to the stands yelling "(our daughters name) PARENTS" and then told us to meet her downstairs. To our shock she said that our daughter was not listening and was not ready for this level of class. We immediately were confused and said that we were watching the whole time and saw no issue with her listening, she just needed a little help. To which the instructor told us that they have too many kids and do not have time to give her 1-1 time. To clarify, we did not expect 1-1 time and appreciate the group setting as it promotes socialization with the kids. She then told us that our daughter did not do the warm up properly (her first time doing said warm-up) and that she was following the other instructor more, which was understandable as she was much more friendly with the kids and actually took the time when demonstrating movements. We specifically remember our daughter being shown the crab crawl twice and then she had it down but apparently that was not quick enough. How can we expect toddlers to learn something immediately? Sure some kids can pick up things quickly but there is a wide range when it comes to toddlers. Have some patience and take pride in what you are doing. I expected more, especially since these classes are not cheap. This was also a trial and everyone knew it was our daughters first time (she was the only one with a name tag) and then you are going to pull her from the class halfway through in front of everyone? How can you expect us to sign up for future classes? The whole conversation was very off putting as she rushed and passed us off to the manager? and front desk ladies. They told us a morning class or "mommy and me" would be a better fit. We chose this specifically because it is good for our daughter to be in these independent situations and we both work full time so the morning classes are not an option for us. I was surprised to see other reviews with parents having a similar experience some dating years ago. And these are only the parents that took the time to actually write a review and leave feedback. This is no longer a coincidence and in my opinion is an issue with how these instructors are being trained or they are given too much responsibility to make these type of decisions. If they cannot handle a reserved 3 year old, maybe add an additional instructor to the class or reduce class size to help with the ratio. I do not leave reviews, especially negative ones as again, I am usually on the other side of these. But I really hope this feedback helps this gym with their current structure and they make some minor adjustments. SCATS is clearly a very well run and successful facility and I understand that most people have a great experience here, but unfortunately this did not meet our expectations.

We have done make up classes with other coaches and the classes aren't as fun or interactive as Coach Jen's. 3 stars for the front desk and facility. They can be really short and unprofessional when you ask questions. They are great however about calling back to reschedule makeup classes. I also feel like the gym floor can be much cleaner and put together. Bathrooms are always clean and so is the lobby but the gym itself needs more love.

Communication from staff is inconsistent, policies are unclear, and parents are given conflicting information depending on who they speak with. After being told one thing in person by staff, I later spoke with Liz, who provided completely different information with no acknowledgment of the earlier guidance. As a result, a reasonable request regarding already-paid classes was denied due to staff miscommunication. When I was at the gym in person, I specifically asked to speak with the manager, Taylor, but she refused to come out and instead said she would call me. That call never happened. The lack of accountability and follow-through only added to the frustration. We have been members for over two years and currently have another child enrolled, yet there was no flexibility or effort to resolve the situation fairly. For a business that serves families and children, this level of customer service is unacceptable. I would not recommend this gym based on how poorly concerns are handled.

It was her first…read moreexperience with any kind of gymnastics, and, honestly, I selected this particular class because it was cheapest in OC. Previously, my daughter tried ballet and dropped it in one month because "it was boring". Ruby's classes were anything but boring: serious workout, new impressive tricks every time, chance to be a part of performance. My daughter simply loved it! I was very much impressed by low price, small class sizes and my daughter progress. In just two month she built such abdominal muscles that allowed her to do 100 sit-ups easily. She always had weak arms, but now she can do front and back walkovers and a handstand. I liked Ruby's "warm up" routine so much, that started to do it myself at home, it is great for getting back in shape. Ruby's and Luca's enthusiasm and passion to their work are superb. You rarely will be able to meet teaches who make a class longer for no additional charge because they are really trying to help a student or simply being carried away. Did you ever take children to summer camps? Then you shall know about penalty for every minute of the late pick up. First day at Ruby Karen summer camp I was 5 minutes late and was preparing apology in advance. When I run into the gym, I found my daughter preparing for the upcoming performance and Ruby kindly asked me to wait for a few minutes so they can work on some elements! She was apologizing for taking time and doing extra work, and she was there all morning! And shall I really tell that OC Great Park performance was a highlight of this summer for my daughter and many other kids? Since Dance Asylum is located pretty far from my house, I always was staying in the room during my daughter's classes and never noticed a single inappropriate word or action. I do not remember a single class starting late or being cancelled on the short notice. Luca is my daughter's favorite person and, I noticed, all children simply love him. Both, Ruby and Luca are strongly focused on safety and even I, a mother, sometimes would get feeling that they are a little too attentive. In the matter of fact, I am certain now that aerial arts, if thought properly, are much safer than regular gymnastics. I also feel that for some children, performing arts can become much healthier physical activity than competitive sport. My daughter participated in two performances so far, and during these events every child is a winner. Ruby is amazing choreographer and she designed beautiful routine for every skill level. Ruby is very professional, extremely patient and encouraging teacher. I recommended Ruby Karen project to all my friends. I am very certain that her classes can be great experience for children of any age or physical shape. I would give her 6 stars if there was such option ))

After summer, I was placed in a different group with a new, inexperienced coach and significantly younger athletes. Despite the challenges, I stayed committed and continued working hard. I actually never missed a single practice in the 4 and a half months I was there. There were ongoing issues within the group (specifically one girl) that made the environment uncomfortable, and although they were brought to the coaches' attention multiple times, nothing was effectively addressed. A month before our first competition--after we had already begun learning routines--I received an email stating that I was no longer welcome at the gym. I was given no clear explanation, no prior warning, and no opportunity to discuss or resolve anything. Being removed from a team this way, especially right before competition season, was extremely upsetting and unprofessional. I would strongly encourage better communication and fairness when handling athletes in the future.

I would have felt better with some of the other coaches but to be honest I don't feel this place is good for us. We are considering places like era or vibe gymnastics. The environment here seems like they are putting a show rather than actual teaching methods and passing down the experience. Just seems like coach Madelyn was a prime example of that. Wouldn't recommend her or this place either
