Ordered over the phone and the woman who answered was very friendly and fast, I think the phone call was all of twenty seconds but very polite. Ordered the Roni Zoni (pepperoni, ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan) and thought it was completely divine! The crust was perfect-- crisp on the outside and soft on the inside! Marinara served on the side is tangy and tasty! My friend ordered the Safety Zone (mushrooms, spinach, olives, garlic, ricotta, mozzarella, ricotta, Parmesan) which she loved! A major complaint I had with Denver just a few years ago was the lack of late-night delivery or food places of any kind. Five years ago if you were hungry past 10 or so you basically only had late-night diners or fast food as options. But D.P. Dough and some other restaurants have figured out Denver's wants and offered exactly what they wanted. D.P. Dough offers delivery until 3AM some nights and I've always found them quick, cheap and affordable. You can also go pick up the food yourself if you're so inclined. I like their vegetarian options including the yummy spinach and ricotta calzone. I do wish their marinera sauce was a bit more flavorful though. It took over 1 hour 40 min for my food to be delivered. It was cold and soggy. The order was messed up. It tasted terrible. The delivery driver did not come up to our unit so we had to go downstairs to find her. Overall, a very poor experience. Which sucks because my experience at the Boulder location has been great. To top it off, upon not tipping, the driver called and disrespectfully yelled at us for not tipping. Honestly, I didn't even want to pay for the food, why in the world would I tip after such a terrible experience? Will not be ordering from here again. Maybe tell your employees to have better customer service. Sure, this isn't fine dining. But if you've just come home after everything else is closed and are needing something to eat, badly, this place will not only feed you a delicious meal/snack for a very cheap price but it will also bring it to your door. May not be the same as a "French Laundry" 5 stars, but it still earns a place on my "Must-Try-Denver" list. After having eaten one transported via a plane ride and allowed to sit in a refrigerator over night, I think I can confidently say this place makes a dang good calzone - just make sure you toaster oven it long enough if you're not able to consume it very fresh. I've always thought of calzones as being a little too much like a piece of pizza folded in half: too much crust, too little filling, and more or less like I've eaten a giant piece of bread. DP Dough, on the other hand, gets creative with fillings and manages a delightfully crispy-crunchy exterior that compliments this filling instead of getting in the way. Personally I recommend the Buffer Zone (since I'm crazy about buffalo chicken) but the chicken-pesto and pepperoni are also decent options. read more

If you're like visiting or just haven't tried this place yet- you have to. It's like pizza but soooooo much better in my opinion. They have a bar- a calzone goes for like 8 to 9 bucks. It's not a bad price. Don't remember what the drink deals are lol. I usually order delivery. The delivery drivers are always awesome, on time, and don't forget anything. Personally, I love DP Dough. I just ordered .. A construction Zone House Salad and 3 Cookies And in all, it took me 1:41 seconds from start to finish.. AND I HAD QUESTIONS I love DP because they give you what you really want. Calories. And quickly I might add. I wanna start this off by saying I continue to buy DP Dough whenever I am in Denver. I usually get it delivered. 9/10 times. But half the time they f**k something up. I order the same thing every time. Chicken bacon with ranch and marinara and a double choc chip cookie. Usually they forget to put both the sauces in. Now I pay extra for that sauces. And when they forget it continually, I become upset. But I figure they will get me back next time. Right? Nope. They not only didn't deliver what i ordered but they were hesitant to do anything about it. I had to finally talk to a manager because the customer service end on their part was severely lacking. When I asked for a free ranch because they forgot it last time, it was asking too much from them. You would think a 2 oz. cup of ranch would be no sweat off their back. I always told myself I would never take the time to write a yelp review. I've had bad service, I've had bad food. But nothing was ever bad enough in my mind to warrant a bad review. Well, congrats DP Dough! You're my 1st, and hopefully my last! Placed an order at 12:43AM for a calzone and garlic knots. Place was steady with business, but there were more Uber eats people coming to pick orders up than dining in customers. I sat, as 20 mins, 30 mins, 40mins, 50 mins went by until I finally got up to ask what the hell was taking so long. Of course, I ask and 2 workers are just completely confused. A guy comes back with my order. Where the hell was it sitting! Definitely not in my hands. I walk it back to my hotel to find a calzone that looked like a sad hot pocket and garlic knots that were so burnt and hard that a baseball player could hit one of these pieces of garbage out of the park. I don't live in Denver so I didn't have anyone to warn me about this place. I have never waited for any food in my entire life for an hour. It's somewhat amazing how stoned you can be and still make an awesome calzone. While we have no proof, we're assuming the staff at D.P. Dough are baked out of their minds (pun very intended) and if that is what helps them churn out these delicious calzones with ultimate perfection, more power to them. While the menu is a bit overwhelming, this is one late night joint that we love. They even cater to our semi-insomniac selves by offering a special between 11pm and 2am. Perfect. As we said above, the calzones are delicious. They've most definitely got something for everyone and are easily big enough to feed you for two meals. Unless you're fatty like us and you eat the whole thing at once, slurping up marinara like it was ambrosia. Add in a couple of perfectly baked, hot-from-the-oven cookies and you have yourself a meal fit for a drunk fat ass king. They even have pints of Ben & Jerry's and will deliver it all to your house so you can just keep sitting there and packing those bowls. About the only thing we can find wrong with D.P. Dough is the stupid ass menu and calzone puns all over the boxes. It's irritating, but far less so than awful food. read more

Absolutly adore this place. When I was in college in Fort Collins, the opened one up when I was a Junior. It's great for a late night snack, but it's also my go to when I just want something that I know is going to be GREAT, QUICK and SUPER TASTY. I always go with the Buffer Zone with marinara sauce on the side. It's a great blend of cheese, buffalo sauce and chicken. In all the years I've been going there, I've never deviated from this order. Quick Tip: Techno music makes the atmosphere a tad confused. Food seems good enough, livingsocial deal or not. Went here on a half off livingsocial with the fam. Like I mentioned above, the techno music didn't fit the hole in the wall vibe given by the green and white checkerboard floor, old arcade machines (pinball, pacman, original buck hunter) and I suppose the literal holes in the walls. The food gets my stamp of approval and everyone in the fam was satisfied for what it was. The broccoli in my calzone was a tad undercooked but that's just my preference. I give this place 2 stars just because the service (though timely) was pretty terrible (maybe 15 year old kid), they had no cutlery on hand and one item we wanted wasn't orderable. From the other reviews, customer service in general isn't where DP shines. The food is good and greasy enough where I'd get it in a pinch. Delicious! After hiking at Staunton, we decided to try someplace new on Colfax that wouldn't shun our windswept and dirty faces. We called ahead and ordered calzone to go. It was ready when we arrived. No wait at all. It was bready and cheese-filled and everything I wanted it to be. The marinara sauce was great. I added potatoes to mine... loved it! During the drive, I noticed they had nutritional information on their site. The calzones are listed as technically 2 servings, and if you eat half, the vegetarian ones are 350-400 calories. I have been here before and it was great all around. However, this visit was awful. I placed my order with a not very friendly staff member. After an hour of waiting and seeing everyone who came in after me get their orders before me, I went up front and asked why it was taking over an hour for just a calzone and a cookie. The guy at the counter went looking for my food along with others and there was much confusion. They found my order up on top of a stove or refrigerator. Yum-O! I came in here on a Monday night with my good friends Courtney and Evan B. We came in not realizing it was a calzone 'zone' ONLY, but we were far from disappointed. If you like calzones, go here. I have been here roughly 10 times now and never had a bad experience. They have roughly 800 calzones to pick from (okay, small exaggeration but seriously, there's a lot) and so far every one I have had, I have enjoyed. I am totally that person that when I find something I like, I just order it every time but here, I have literally tried something different each time because so many of them sound good...but I may have found "the one" for which I will order every time because it is hands down my favorite. It's the the BBQ Chicken and it.is.so.good. While the place is definitely fitting for Colfax (divey for sure) the staff are always really friendly (most in their late teens early 20's) and the food is always good. This is not FAST food - if you don't call ahead, plan on waiting a good 20 minutes or so as they make the calzone when you order it. I recommend the cookies - also made to order and damn delicious! The prices are beyond reasonable - I think they range around $5 a calzone which is more than filling (I usually can only eat half) and they have all kinds of good deals. The marinara is a little on the spicy side for me, so I have steered clear of marinara calzones but I'm also a wimp when it comes to spicy foods and most people would probably say I'm ridiculous for calling it spicy, but this my review, so I'm saying spicy. The caesar salad is also very good and enough to feed two people. They have a small fountain soda machine, a small TV on the wall, and that about sums it up. Whoa, what a surprise. This place is so close to my house and I had no idea what an awesome place it is. All they serve are Calzones - but so many variations. To start with the crust is perfect - enough to hold the filling but not get in the way. They all have cutesy names. My "Safety Zone" was stuffed with spinach, mushrooms, olives, three kinds of cheese and oh yea - a healthy touch of garlic. Large enough to get two meals out of, but you'll be tempted to eat it all. What puts this place over the top is the price all 'zones are $6.50. There's about 30 varieties or build your own. I recommend the carryout special for $7.50 which includes any 'zone, a pop and a really yummy, fresh baked cookie. And service is amazingly quick. I first stopped in this hidden gem on East Colfax as an UberEATS delivery driver waiting for a pickup. The place was super busy with other drivers waiting on orders and after reviewing the menu I knew I had to give a try. I mean who isn't going to want a Bacon Mac and Cheese calzone to dip in ranch dressing? I have finally ordered and my only regret is using UberEATS for delivery. Next time I'll eat in so I know it's going to be right out of the oven hot. I also tried the Buffalo Chicken Salad and a tad overpriced for the delivery size but still a good salad.
