Mediocre and overpriced. It's now $9.45 for a large blizzard, nearly double the price of some other locations and just about as much as an entire fast food meal! I know that it's not cheap to run a business in downtown Fairfield, but this is likely the result of their greedy and oppressive management. The small dipped cone that I paid $4 for was a joke. It wasn't dipped all the way through, so the edges of the cone melted all over my hands. And on top of this, the sad amount of ice cream was bland and flavorless. I am reviewing our local Dairy Queen, not a 5 star restaurant. I guess I am confused by some of the negative reviews I have seen here. At this Dairy Queen there are clearly marked spots denoted by stickers or paint on the ground that are 6 ft apart. The line wraps around the back of the building towards the train tracks. The staff look like high school kids, I'm guessing from Fairfield and the local towns nearby. I have always been treated well and have never had any issues. The ice cream and the Orange Julius are great. They are exactly what I expect to get. On a hot summer night expect a line and try to enjoy it. The reward for waiting is a great treat. read more

I've been here over 20 times over the last five years. There's something nostalgic about going to a DQ and it always makes me happy and think of my childhood. This DQ is good, not quite great. The parking is tight and there is never enough. The line can be looong, and sometimes we've waited over 20 minutes on a summer night with only two or three staff working. This location could be better with additional staff on hand at peak times and maybe a roped off line where people could wait. Otherwise, this is a typical DQ and it delivers all typical dessert selections and toppings. I typically stick with the dipped cherry cone with vanilla soft serve. Since the new owner Scott has bought this ice cream joint, it has gone downhill. The line is very long all the time because there's only two workers on a busy night. I was disgusted and EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED yesterday by this Dairy Queen's lack of sensitivity to those of us who support this franchise throughout the years!!! My 9 year old son and 11 year old daughter were so excited to stand on line for 20 minutes to get WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FREE CONE!! NEVER AGAIN GOING THERE. What a way to ruin what should have been a beautiful Saturday family outing, 9/25/2021. What a way to ruin a fond childhood family tradition. Saturday is our family 's burger and ice cream day; and today, we decided to go to Dairy Queen in Fairfield. While I was ordering thru the small counter window, another sales staff called another customer in line and then the manager called a third one in line - all of us being serviced through a small window. They were entertaining and taking orders of three customers at the same time. I asked them to please wait till the other customer leaves since we are still asked to social distance. And rudely, the manager says to me, they are not doing anything wrong. She was not going to listen to my request, which was to please finish taking and filling my order before calling another customer to the window. Well, what do you know, 2 of the 3 orders were wrong and my order which was something I regularly order from Dairy Queen was a Pineapple-Banana Blizzard was not what I got. Instead what I got was vanilla ice cream blended - really with scant pineapple and no bananas. Both me and the other customers got to talking and we were both astonished how they were insistent in entertaining multiple customers thru a small window at one time. We could not socially distance at all. I was so disgusted that when I told them that my order was wrong - they were still piling up the customers that they could not attend to me or hear me... so I simply left my order without eating and left. Went there tonight. Of course it was packed! Employees seemed courteous but one thing really bothered me. Being a germaphobe, it REALLY bothered me that the ppl serving me ice cream cones, taking money and making change and wiping down counters etc, should PUT GLOVES ON when serving ppl. We've been going to this Dairy Queen for close to 20 years and generally loved it. However, twice this week including today Sunday 4/29/18 the kids working have closed up shop and turned a crowd of 20-30 away with patrons who had been waiting 20-30 minutes in line. If the goal is to close at 9 maybe they should turn the sign off at 8:30 and then serve those in line. Instead of turning off the machines and the lights and telling people who have been patiently waiting that they are out of luck. Without so much as a apology.
