I have never experienced such poor customer service and repair (or lack of). The end of April I called them for a dryer that was not heating properly. I wasn't home at the time but they came and changed a fuse - cost was $305.00 and left no receipt or invoice. All of a sudden my vent was torn so I asked them to come back. On May 9th they ordered a part - when you call the number on their website the voicemail is always full so I started texting. They almost never reply nor do they call you back. Angrily they replied to let me know a part was ordered and it takes 10-14 business days to have it come in. Three weeks ago they texted me to say the part would be in that week. Well, this is June 17th and I have not heard from them about finishing the job they started and claimed was under warranty, nor have I received the original receipt I have been requesting for 2 months. We have used Dr. Appliance for several repairs on washer, dryer and ice maker, all with good results until now. Juan installed a new ice maker in April which cost us $315 and it started leaking into the freezer and refrigerator and stopped making ice two weeks ago. We called Juan and he said he'd come next day. He sent a different technician and he said it needed a new part so he purchased one and came back and installed it for $177. Within a few hours, I noticed it wasn't making ice so I looked in the freezer and it was spewing water into the freezer and fridge. I called and left a message with Juan early evening. Next day, he did not respond to my message so i called him and he said he'd come by after 3:00. Well, he never showed up and would not answer my calls. I sent him a message and he still did not respond. We are out $492 and we're still without a working ice maker. We are very disappointed in Juan and we'll never use his company again. We hope he will read this complaint and finally step up and fix this but he probably will not. read more

The first time I used this company, I was a big fan as the tech did a great job on a dishwasher repair. A few weeks ago a different tech came out to fix the freezer that was leaking into the refrigerator. Part $125 and labor $150. Labor seemed a bit high but he had to make to trips to get the part, so ok. Freezer still leaked because he didn't unclog the drain line while putting in the new icemaker. Charged me $69 for coming back out to fix what should of been done originally, hence 3 stars. Good techs, but the extra service fee should not of been charged in my opinion. read more

I called Juan from a Yelp Ad because he is near where I live and I was very pleasantly surprised that he was available on a Saturday. I asked him about my oven and he quoted me a $60 diagnostic fee which would be applied to any labor and repair if I were to proceed. He confirmed the fact that there is a 15% off labor if you reference Yelp and some parts have a 90 day warranty is in some parts have one year warranty depending on the model of your appliance. At first he thought my oven was a gas oven but I was able to inform him that it is an electric oven. His diagnostic fee is competitively priced and I am first going to research how much it would cost for a new appliance because to fix my electric oven from whirlpool would run approximately $180-$220. His labor does carry a one-year warranty. read more

The fan on our Best range hood stopped working. I called the manufacturer and the two companies they referred never called me back. Based on their Yelp review, I called Juan at Dr. Appliances. A technician came out and identified the problem. It took them several weeks and a call to the technical line of the manufacturer to locate the correct parts but they ordered what we needed and now the hood fan works. It took the technician some time to install the new parts and test the system, but he did a great job. I highly recommend this company. read more

I rently had my older oven stop working (25 years at least or older). I really was not in the position to buy a new and have to demolition the cabinet since the dimensions are now different. They came out the day I called. Called for the part and installed it the next day. Both technicians were awesome and I am very pleased and great full with their services. Juan came out to fix my LG Dryer. I thought he was an authorized repairman for LG. He took everything apart, broke the steam hose and part to the main drum, said he would order it and come back but never did, charged us a lot and the dryer never worked the same again. I have now paid an authorized LG repairman to come out, he fixed it and things are now back to normal. Good money after bad!! read more

The only thing worse than a refrigerator not making ice is when it is making ice at the bottom and back as well. The technician was knowledgeable and identified the problem quickly. He also allowed me to watch and learn, which has benefited us since. I would feel confident calling them again and believe their bill was more than reasonable. My wine storage unit is finally repaired. I have a Eurocave 260 bottle wine unit from 1989 and the compressor stopped working. After having another appliance company take the unit apart to try and repair it and then never return with the compressor, Juan from Dr Appliance arrived. He ordered the recommended compressor and it wasn't compatible despite advice from Eurocave. He didn't give up and worked with me until we were able to locate the correct compressor. He spent many hours here repairing the unit and still stuck to his original labor estimate despite having to reorder the part and returned when the right one came in to install it. My GE Monogram tri-vection oven appliance was not working and was no longer under warranty. Both men arrived on time - Juan and Jesus. They looked very professional with their Dr. Appliances polo shirts and both very courteous. Looked at all the appliance repair company reviews for San Diego area and saw predominantly bad posts. About to give up and replace a $1,500, two-and-a-half-year-old Samsung refrigerator, I came across the reviews for Dr Appliances with names Juan & Jesus recurring. I took and chance and called (619) 773-0458 at around 2 p.m. -- Juan answered telling me someone would call me back around 4 p.m. to see about diagnosing the fridge. Jesus called and showed up at 4:15. It took about 30 min. to locate the problem, a faulty circuit board. They were willing to come back the next day with the replacement part, but unfortunately many Samsung parts are not readily available in San Diego. Skip forward a week, Juan came to the house on a Saturday morning and replaced the board. All told -- friendly, fast, knowledgeable, careful, cleanly and reasonably priced service gets 5 stars.
