You can choose your sauce. I opted for the house sauce, which was pretty good. I did notice they had summer rolls. I ordered one with ham and one with shrimp. They come with peanut sauce. I don't think you can mess up some peanut sauce. They were good. The day was a cold day, so I decided on hot tea. I had the oolong. It comes pre sweetened, so be aware of that as you can choose your sweetness level. You can order at the register or you can order at your table. Whatever is easiest. These are freshly made and wrapped individually to prevent them from drying out. Good amount of filling and not overly stuffed with the herbs like some places do as a way to minimize the meat ratio. The peanut sauce was slightly salty but plays well with the fresh summer roll. Coconut soup - 5 stars. This was a surprise for me because it's not a traditional Vietnamese menu item. On top of that, large macaroni elbow noodles are floating in there. It's odd, but it works lol. They don't skimp on the chicken and you get a fabulously soft boiled egg (not the jammy/oozy egg). My husband and I love Dr. Banh Mi. We're here between two to three times a week for their delicious banh mi sandwich and the oh-so-very delicious Vietnamese coffee--my absolute favorite. Customer service is always excellent. The ambiance is pretty good. I love that they wear scrubs and scrub caps. Very fitting with the restaurant's name. Also, I love that I can order ahead of time through Yelp because there are times when we're in a rush, so it's nice to show up and our order is ready. So that's a plus. Stopped by since I was in the area! The wait wasn't too long and I was helped right away. As for the food, I ordered 2 specials, one with extra pickled carrots and one with jalapenos. It was so tender, and refreshing. I love the taste of the carrots and cucumber and the touch of cilantro. The veggies and flavor isn't heavy or overbearing. I tried the chicken sandwich two days later, still flavorful, but my favorite is the garlic beef. You can already guess today's lunch order was the garlic beef sandwich. I have tried three of their green teas so far. Peach, Mango, and Pineapple. All very tasty and not overly sweet. If you order on door dash they give you a sweetening level option, i just always stick to the recommended. I'll be ordering these drinks on rotation from now on. Right from my first bite, I encountered a huge chunk of soft fat. As I began pulling the 'protein' out of the sandwich, all I found were pieces of straight-up fat and scraps--no actual meat. But to the defense of Dr Banh Mi, they had just got their oven in to make their own bread. The bread they used got very soggy pretty quickly. The homemade Vietnamese bread will easily resolve this problem The service was great. You order at the counter and pay up front and they bring all the food out to you as it is ready. The pricing was very reasonable, at less than $10 per person, which is unheard of nowadays. The dining room itself is very quiet. They have lounge chairs for when people want to hang out, but I'm not sure that's it is meant for. Overall, I want to come back when they make their own bread! I've never ordered anything other than the rice bowls, I'm hooked. Today I try the sesame chicken rice bowl for the first time. I came yesterday, too and had the grilled pork rice bowl. I have to say, they pretty much tasted the same. There is a variety of protein to choose from including other items I haven't tried yet, like egg strips, char siu bbq pork and tofu. For the bowl and a cup of water, I paid $11.90. These bowls are very filling due to the rice and protein and keep you interested, due to the variety of color, texture, temperatures and flavors that range from salty to sweet to sour and even spicy if you choose. The chicken in today's bowl is tender and flavorful, though doesn't appear to be very fresh. I felt that way about yesterday's grilled pork, too. But all in all, I love their bowls. Now that they bake their own baguettes in house, I'll have to try a sandwich very soon. To break it down, the French bread was quite hard on the ends of the sandwich, not edible. I had to break them off. The meat was VERY flavorful especially with the veggies and herbs. I was a bit disappointed they used straight mayo and not the Vietnamese Bò, ( a mix of butter/Mayo sauce, herb). I was also expecting the Vietnamese coffee to be a traditional made iced milk coffee. The iced coffee I got tasted of Instant packaged Vietnamese coffee. I believe if they can make it a bit more traditional, they will have even more customers. The tea my wife got was probably the best green tea I've ever had. But, I spent 70$ after the 11$ tip. They brought us our bowls and a tiny sauce cup. So i go and ask for more sauce and they tried to charge me .38 cents. Come one man. 70$ to eat with plastic silverware and clean my own table when I'm done. And i cant have another sauce? Nah bro. Coming from Houston I was SO pumped to have a banh mi place open nearby. I ordered a salad while my husband ordered a banh mi.
