This was my first time visiting Black Rock Coffee Bar, and I was pleasantly surprised! I told the girl working there that I'm usually a Starbucks girl but wanted to try something different. She asked what I normally order at Starbucks and recommended a drink based on that -- and her choice did not disappoint at all! It definitely had its own unique flavor and wasn't Starbucks, but it was honestly really good. I appreciated her taking the time to help me find something I'd enjoy. Just a quick update from my previous review, visited early on a weekday morning for a boost of energy, so I ordered a Caramel Shaken Expresso with Vanilla Cold Foam, a great suggestion from the barista since they no longer carried the Brown Sugar Expresso, at first it had no sweetness to it until it I shaked the cup and wha-la a more refined smooth shaken Expresso! First time at Black Rock and I would def come back. The coffee was excellent! I actually don't remember what I ordered but I think it was blondie something (caramel/mocha) perfect blend of everything. The ice matcha-not so much, it tastes like straight milk with a shot a matcha. Typically matcha is an acquired taste, well anyone could have tolerated theirs because it was literally milk, very disappointing. Had the traffic on Potranco not been so bad and a one way I would have went back. The sausage/cheese/jalapeno kolache- excellent! I mean the meat to bread was little off but the sausage was really good and the flavor was there so ehhh. Lemon poppyseed scone was also very good, not dry and not too sweet, just the way I like it!! Ways to improve... Why not display prices for food? It would be nice before driving up to the register. Also displaying your syrup choices instead of having to ask what flavors you offer especially when there's a line. No one wants to hold up a line. An itemized receipt is also helpful. Holler out to Grand Opening Day 4/5/2024! With free 16 oz drinks all day- one per person. My first time to Black Rock and not my last. Drive thru was busy, but we walked in and right up to the counter with no line. Loved how the menu was no fuss and not overwhelming- sectioned off into categories- faves, fuel, chillers, espresso and coffee, and coffee less. They offer decaf which was a plus and alternative milks. We ordered a chilled chai chiller with soy, decaf hazelnut mocha with extra pump of sugarless hazelnut, and a peach smoothie. Chai chiller with soy- hint of chai, too much blended ice watered down the drink, for future reference , make sure it's lite ice. Topped with whipped cream. Decaf hazelnut mocha with extra pump sugarless hazelnut- yum! It hit the spot with the perfect amount of hazelnut. Peach smoothie- dairy based and topped with whipped cream. Any coffee bar in my area that opens at 5 AM has my attention: I didn't study the menu too much, but they kolaches, egg bites, burritos, & some packed sweets. I ordered a jalapeño kolache that was a good size; spicy, cheesy, but taken out of a mic & w/ a zapped in the microwave vibe. I noticed that they've got a solid variety of sweet, flavored drinks, but I ordered a hot Large med roast. The young lady was very helpful, polite, and chipper for the 2nd customer at 5:08. I took advantage of the free wifi, accessible power outlet & table space to get some work done. The music was bumpin & great for me at the start of the day. I've been patiently waiting for Black Rock Coffee Bar to open on the Northwest side of San Antonio. I was finally able to visit during their Grand Opening and went through the drive thru. There was a line but the staff was directing traffic to control any chaos that could occur. The line moved fairly quickly and I was able to order with a staff member using an iPad. They were very helpful and friendly as they went over the menu. I got a cold brew with cold foam and a mocha chiller with whipped cream. The coffee was good, and didn't have a bitter after taste like over big chains in the area. The sweet cream was good and held up well in the coffee. I will definitely be returning to this location and highly recommended checking it out! read more

Blackrock Coffee is legit. Highly recommend. Lots of hot and cold drinks available, but we tried hot coffee drinks. Both have a great coffee flavor, not burnt or bitter, with the extra flavors as a not-to-sweet supporting cast. The Blackout (hazelnut mocha) was excellent, as was the Caramel Blondie. Good muffins, and they have brekkie sandwiches and kolaches available. Very nice restaurant, with outdoor seating available. Friendly and helpful folks provided fast service. Reasonably priced. Not a copy cat, this place stands out as unique. Can't wait to go back to try other coffees! read more

I went on 4/7/24 after seeing a HUGE sign on the corner of Potranco where the shop is located. The sign said Buy One Get One Free. I missed the open house so I figured since I needed to get 6 coffees, I would give it a chance. When I ordered my $32 worth of coffee and didn't revive the BOGO, I asked the employee who responded oh that was yesterday, no wonder we are so busy. I told the employee they should honor it as the sign was not only still up but I mentioned it too. He said no, can't do that but today is 3x loyalty points. I waited In line for 30 minutes for the coffee as well then another 15 for them to make it. I was annoyed because cause I feel good customer service would be to honor the BOGO because of the circumstances. The coffee was not bad, but could have had more flavor of the caramel and peppermint mocha that I added to our coffees. We ordered Mexican mochas and an americano as well. I won't rush back because I feel convicted to the cause that as a new customer and different coffee places all down Potranco, I will go where they offer me quality customer service. There was also another couple that mentioned the sign, then went to the corner and removed it and brought it into the establishment. Very disappointed. Wish they would have made it right. I didn't get coffee so can't judge I usually judge based on the chai latte but I was convinced to make my latte dirty. The order taker asked if I wanted it dirty and after I made sure she wasn't flirting with me and that was an actual thing I agrees .. espresso and chai might sound good actually in hindsight it doesn't really sound good and rest assured it is not.. they were nice enough not Dutch bros nice ( but really Dutch bros nice can be irritating ) but nice enough I will try again but I might need to go to the airport at 600 am and need the pick me up before it happens read more

I've gone through the drive-through several times and I have always had a good experience! Not too long ago I decided to go in to really experience the ambience and I was surprised at how bad the customer service was. I have worked in customer service before and I know it sucks to stop a conversation to say hi and serve someone but at some point you need to stop and actually talk to the customer. I was not greeted but just stared at like I was a problem. I had to wait for them to finish their conversation for them to even acknowledge me. I ended up not ordering anything at all and leaving. The whole situation felt very offputting and sad because I really do enjoy the coffee and especially the Matcha. read more

I'm so disappointed in this place. If the manager isn't there they don't get the order right. I had to send my husband to get my favorite teas because I had a medical procedure done earlier today and can't drive and can't go anywhere. All I wanted was my teas. He even went to the window and showed the woman his phone that said exactly what I wanted which is 2 cold pour extra large passion fruit green teas with dragon fruit.....just like the picture on the ordering window.
