TOPIC: Good Dentistry - Turned Cheap In Service Dear current and future patients: Holly is incredible as a hygienist and is the primary reason I stay with the practice for a good 10-15 yrs now, at least. I had an annual cleaning and good bill of health (thanks to God), and Dr Ryan is always nice -- he talked about new Artificial Intelligence (AI) style imaging machines they'll be getting at some point which will scan and record measured changes of a patient's teeth and mouth over time. Sounds cool, I thought to myself. Then, Holly informs me upon leaving as I inquire about a toothbrush that the dentists and owners have made a company-wide decision to not provide toothbrushes or toothpaste to patients anymore. My gut reaction -- dentistry is among the only, if not the only medical related service that any medical insurance company under the sun will pay for in "preventative" treatment; ALL other insurance coverage is for "acute or chronic" treatment only. Yet, Dr Bob's practice now no longer chooses to provide items that foster preventative maintenance and hygiene that are customary of most dentistry practices anywhere. As this change settled in, my business brain, MBA and financial training acumen started to consider cost implications to a dentist practice with six locations deciding to weed out a cost that would only nominally effect a Balance Sheet or Income Statement compared to AI imaging equipment. In short, unless Dr Bob's dental practice chooses to reverse this change and contact me and other patients to explain further reasoning, their practice now appears to no longer be a family-style dentist practice. They have made the shift to a corporatism big-business medical model, penny pinch, and carry themselves as a robotic business to churn as much revenue as possible using costly AI technology that results in higher rates of billing to the insurance company payors -- which causes the medical insurance premiums of common folk to increase and directly contributes to inflationary trends in the marketplace. This further marginaizes families that cannot afford such rate hikes. The change makes Dr Bob's practice appear cheap and stingy. Fortunately, there is no shortage of good dentists in Buffalo and I will begin shopping for a new practice that is smaller and more personalized in patient care. If only the late, great, Dr Herb Simon was still around who retired from dentistry at the age of 90. He would call Dr. Bob's practice crazy. read more

I really enjoyed my first visit to and cleaning at this office. I did not need to wait long in the waiting room. All of the staff members were kind and respectful. I never felt pressured to engage in costly treatment. I will be definitely be returning. read more

Wow. Reading through these reviews is like looking at an entirely different dental office than the one I went to. I had wonderful, pain free experiences with this office, dental & admins. I would highly recommend them. I'd go back, but I sort of "lost them" during the pandemic and when I called again, they weren't taking new patients. read more

I had a HORRIBLE experience with my dentist. 2 years later have to have a retreatment with an Endodontist because I have an abscessed tooth from a failed root canal. I wish i could sue my old dentist... First i went in for a cavity to be filled, she drilled my tooth to do the filling and told me i needed a root canal. I then had to wait weeks to get the root canal done and had a temporary filling that flaked off in my mouth all the time. THEN went into get the root canal, she drill and tells me i just need a filling. She does the filling. Two weeks later i am in EXCRUCIATING pain and couldn't even work. Just paced around the house in pain. She tells me i now need a root canal..... We do the root canal, it goes well. I get the crown on, immediately falls out that night biting into a soft piece pizza. I go back to get the crown on.. a few days later it falls out AGAIN,.. she puts it back on... Im not even kidding it falls out AGAIN. She tried to say it was me because i grind my teeth, i told her i have another crown and it has never done that before. She shaved it down so it fit better. I told her i can feel a gap with my tongue between the gum and tooth and she says its fine... then tried to charge me $100 for each time i needed the crown to be put back on. She refused me my 6month cleaning until i payed. I got a new dentist and always eat on the right side of my mouth to avoid the left crown that falls out. On and off i have pain when it feels like its infected, i take ibuprofen and it heals, now i have an abscess that has puss like a pimple and pops and cant get into an Endodontist for two months. read more

My adult son and I attend this dental location and I have posted a positive rating before however; the services here have really gone down. My adult 25 year old son who has his own benefits through his dad and his own employment had a balance left on his bill. someone thought it was a good idea to put on his account that I was responsible for his unpaid bill and then told me I can't be serviced until the bill is paid, then when his father called in to discuss the bill which will be paid by his insurance, he was told that my son is over 21 so they could not talk about the bill with him. Make it make sense. what the heck is happening here. very annoying. read more

My husband and I are both patients at the 892 Elmwood Avenue location. Dr. Ariyan Ravangard is our dentist. She and her assistant, Gisenia provided us exceptional service. Went there 10 yrs ago. Terrible. They did two root canals but didn't finish them and said I had to Niagara Falls office to complete it. In the meantime, not even 2 wks later, the evening before my sister's funeral, one of the teeth broke all the way off. The other broke couple week's later. The receptionist who worked there answered questions that the dentist or another medical professional should've been answering because she had no clue what she was talking about yet went on rudely, boldly, arrogantly & rashly as if she owned the place. Very unprofessional to allow someone like that give advise & council when she's not qualified by education to provide it to patients. She wasn't even qualified by personality to be a receptionist. read more

***WORST*** FAKE*** WoRST*** I have been going to the dentist since a year now. I had appointment after appointment I was really not sure if I needed so many until I finally received a bill in the mail on 06/05/17 , when i received the bill I then understood why I had so many unnneded appointments , they sent a big bill which I had to pay out of pocket , I doubted the bill and called my insurance company for clarification they reviewed my visits & work and they said I needed to pay only $50 deductible and $118 out of pocket however Dr. Bobs Dental Care at Kenmore sent me a bill close to $500 , worst thing is they threatened me of payment agencies . I had to spend several hours with Insurance company to get a clarification . I urge each one of you to not goto this clinic and get scammed . I am now ready to submit grievance against them to the insurance company so that no other person would go through the pain which i went through . I also wanted to mention that Dr. Bobs sends fake mails which you will never receive , when I went to pay my bill they said that they sent me several mails however all they sent me was two mails till date. The reason they do that is the amount you would need to pay out of your pocket would be tripled if you never receive the mail until the last minute that's a scam game they play. The dentist was great Guy however The administration people play all these money games to pull innocent people's money . DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR APPOINTMENTS. I had 2 badly infected teeth and had to have them both pulled without sedation. Don't get me wrong Dr. Gretchen did a WONDERFUL job extracting the teeth, I was amazed and thanked her REPEATEDLY. I had another appointment scheduled for 7 days after the extraction, I get to the place and they tell me I have no appointment, That I must have cancelled or moved my appointment, which I 100% did not do. I have sharp teeth fragments digging into my gums and still feel like I have an infection so I couldn't wait to be seen. I showed them the PROOF that I had an appointment (my appointment card) They said I could wait and see if she has any time to look at me, I have other appointments and can not just sit around due to THEIR error. I asked for the phone number for whoever is in charge of the whole company and all they did was give me another receptionists name(who wasn't even working that day) and the number to the location I go to which is absolute BULL. This is the second time they have done this to me. Their policy is if you're 10 minutes late to an appointment, even if you call and let them know you're running late, you have to reschedule and can get dropped from the dentistry. BUT when THEY screw up there is absolutely no consequence for them, only the patient who is in extreme pain. read more

I was a long standing patient of Dr. Bob. He, personally, is wonderful and I always had a great experience with him, other dentists in the practice and all the hygienists. However, the front end staff, specifically at the Kenmore location, were never warm and friendly. It states right on there website that they have friendly staff, which could not be further from the truth. Being that the dentist is never an exciting appointment, I put that to the side since the actually staff caring for me were always wonderful. I called to make a cleaning appointment, as I had to cancel mine back in October. The receptionist gave me a time and date for my cleaning just to then inform me that my account was noted that I had been "dismissed" as a patient. She informed me this was because I was a no show for my last 3 appointments and it is their policy that you are then dismissed. The appointments she listed to me were February, March & October. I told her that I spoke to someone, reciting back our convo, in October cancelling that appointment and that if I had an appointment in March, I had to assume I called in February to reschedule.. how else would I have the March appointment? No show just isn't me. That's not to say I didn't no show, possibly the March appointment but either way, I surely did NOT no show 3 appointments. I asked to speak to someone else. She told me there was noone who could help me as this is policy and that was that. I was not accepting that as an answer so she put me on hold to get the manager (which I am unsure why she didn't give me to her when I first asked?) The manager, Melissa, got on the phone with an immediate attitude. As a paying customer, looking for answers to stay in the practice, this is VERY confusing to me. She was no help, as I am sure you can imagine, basically calling me a liar and belittling me. Being sarcastic & rude. I will admit, I lost my cool with her but I did not appreciate or deserve being talked to like that .. and it doesn't help I am 7 months pregnant! So, she was rude and told me she would have someone else call me (even though she too told me there was noone else I could speak to about this matter). Another office manager called me from a different location and was just as much help as these two.. NONE. So, office staff alone, I wouldn't recommend. Being that I work in a medical office, I was more appalled and offended by how they treat their patients. read more
