Vlad was very nice, he showed up on time and explained everything before he started. When I called his company to schedule the appointment they were very upfront about the pricing. They told me that WITH the Groupon it would still be a bit more depending on how many ducts, returns, and vents I had. I was told ahead of time that if the system had not been cleaned before that it would be $25 for each hole they had to cut (this was the standard with the other companies I checked out). Our house is 40 years old and has never been cleaned ( we recently moved in).My wife and sons allergies were getting very bad. And the amount of dust, hair, rubber bands, spoons, ect that was pulled out of the system was unreal. As for the pricing, a previous reviewer wrote that it was very confusing and not right. I have to strongly disagree. All I had to do was ask ahead of time, count my vents, ducts, and returns. I came out with a price that was true as well as more affordable than any other company we looked at. The person that wrote the bad review also clearly failed to buy the Groupon online and was supposed to pay Vlad in person but seemed to get upset by that. Can't just mention it and expect to get the killer discount, you have to actually purchase the Groupon or at least pay the discounted price. Treat others like you would like to be treated. WOW! If there was a way to record "0" stars, I would give them that! Was going to purchase a Groupon and lady on phone says that they would honor the price...$47 for 10 registers and one main, then give us an estimate for the rest of the house. Guy shows up and wants to charge us $600!! PLUS on their website it shows sanitizing is included in all their services, but Alex said it was not and it would be an extra $200!! I really *wanted* to like this company. All the good reviews, the nice scheduler and polite young man that came to my house. Unfortunately, my quote of $207 suddenly turned into $444 in my basement. The tech had already unscrewed a portion of my furnace and assured me that he was "ready to get to work" when the more than double price tag was mentioned. I told him I would not agree to such a steep price and he assured me he would call the scheduler to "figure out what discounts she applied." He proceeded to exit my house and sit in the van he'd backed into my driveway. About 10 minutes later, I got a call from the scheduler and she explained that she had just forgotten to add up several items, such as adding the "rotary brushes" that I asked about not less than 4 times when obtaining the quote (FYI, any duct cleaner will tell you that having a cleaning without the brushes is a waste of money if you've not cleaned your system in a long time). I explained that I understood and told her that I would not proceed with their services today at such a huge price. The service tech walked into my house at that moment putting his gloves on, ready to start service. I told him I wasn't starting service, shook his hand, and said good bye. He looked a bit dumbfounded. I thanked the scheduler, again, and said good bye to her and hung up. The service tech sat in my driveway, in his van, for an additional 10 minutes. I then got a text saying they would do my entire house for $300. I texted back no thank you and they left. What a scam. To add insult to injury, I ended up having to put all the screws back in my furnace. I wonder how many of the reviews on yelp and google are fake after my experience. 1957 1,900 sq.ft. home 1. Confusing pricing over the phone. The lady on the phone said to discuss pricing with the guys when they get on site. They said they had a Groupon for $49 that included a main duct and up to 9 registers. She couldn't tell me if that was supply and/or return registers and which main duct? 2. My expectation was the whole thing would be $200-$250. (Vlad's coworker had to translate the meaning of "expectation" into Russian for him) 3. Vlad and another gentleman showed up early as a previous appointment canceled. We walked the house showing them all the supply and return ducts. 4. In the basement, the price quickly shot up to $350. I had to do the math on my ipad as they didn't have any sort of formal quoting mechanism. $19/register above the 9 included in the Groupon $85 to do the return main duct but to get to the return and supply they had to cut holes in the duct at a price of $25 per hole. Shouldn't the labor of cutting a hole to do the $85 worth of work be included? Nope. 5. After some hard-nosed negotiations, I believed we came to a deal on $300. 6. Shortly after Vlad was getting ready to start he came back to me to confirm the price was $300 + the $49 cost of the Groupon for a total of $349. This is not what I agreed on in the basement. 7. Negotiations began again at the $349 price point. Since Vlad was onsite and ready to go I gave into his new price. I off-the-cuff stated "lets f*cking get this done" and Vlad and his coworker went off to start the work. 8. Shortly after the off-the-cuff remark Vlad came back with his vacuum in tow stating he could not work for me because of his experience. He claimed I would come back with a bad review for some erroneous things like that he scratched the floor or knicked some paint. I apologized for the off-the-cuff remark and asked to start fresh now that we were on the same cost/deliverables page. Nope. He left.... Recap, Vlad decided to shoot himself in the foot and forgo $350 for 4 hours of work due to the perceived risk of a bad review. Well, here we are Vlad. Here's some simple math for you Vlad: $350 / 4 hours / 2 men = $43.75/hr or $91,000/yr per person for cleaning ducts. It was NASTY and now it is not. I too bought the Groupon which ended up saving me some money, but also ended up getting the deluxe package and paying more than previously expected I would. It was all my choice though and I could have declined some of the services, but after seeing the filth I was breathing in, I paid the extra costs. From mouse turds to spider webs to gobs of dust I can't describe the shape my vents were in without feeling like I need a shower. Great job. Vlad showed up with an apprentice to clean our ducts. They were both very pleasant and professional during the time they spent at our house. We had a misunderstanding where they at to do a lot of extra work to finish the job in a tiny crawlspace, but they didn't charge more than we were told when they started. I was having issues with my dryer taking forever to dry clothes and was told I would need to have my dryer vent cleaned. Vlad was able to come out at a time that worked for me and cleaned the vent. He also explained that I may run into another issue in the future because of a disconnect (I live in a ground floor condo with the vent going to the roof another story above me). They dusted my entire house, set off the smoke alarm and did not finish 1/2 the return duct because they said they could not reach it. I chose this company for several reasons. Vlad is the very knowledgeable technician and an owner at the same time. As the result, I knew that he would be interested in providing good quality service. More importantly, however, I studied his website and learned that he uses a rotor brush rather than a conventional brush to clean the ducts. There is no doubt that the rotor brush does a much better job. Dr Duct polished my vents, furnace and AC. It takes a while to do the job (almost whole day) for the whole house but it is worth it. Vlad is very detailed and quality oriented. I did not realize how much dirt was collected in our air systems. The air in the house is fresh and crisp right now. Thank you for good work. Alex was our service guy and he did a fantastic thorough job. Originally he thought the job might take 1 1/2 hours. Four hours later, the job was finished. He was a professional throughout and the price didn't change based on the amount of work the job took! He also suggested a dryer vent clean out and boy are we glad we did, not sure it had ever been done. As well as a furnace clean out and they were half the costs of some of our other quotes. I called this company because I was having issues w/my dryer. I called them one day and they said that they could come out the next. They gave me a window of 11AM-3PM. I was not able to get an average charge over the phone. But I was told that I would be charged for approximately $39 for the tech to come out to my home. The same evening I was call and asked to change the window to 1PM-3PM, I agreed. On the morning of the appointment I received a call at approximately 9:15AM by a male who I could not understand. Finally I recognized the name of Dr. Duct. he stated the schedule had changes an he needed to come out in 20 minutes!! Far cry from 1PM. At that time I called the main number for the company and canceled my appointment. Why should I put up with this type of service and have to pay someone for it. There are other local, not franchised companies, who will be very responsive and offer better service at a much low price! Alex did a super job on the filthy ducts and vents of the house my wife recently decided to buy while I was working out of state. I doubt the system had been cleaned for 20 years as the house had been neglected in many other ways. Alex had to deal with plenty of mouse dropping and spiders in the system so we had an extra anti-mold treatment done. The price was reasonable for the hard work and peace of mind knowing we will not be blowing nasty stuff into our living spaces as the chilly weather approaches.
