Elliott Air Systems did a phenomenal job with the installation of a new Carrier heat pump system in our home. They carefully removed the 80 year old gas furnace from the crawl space and patched all holes. They installed the air handler in the attic and carefully cut in all new vents in the ceiling. Duct runs in the tight attic space are installed with the highest level of care and craftsmanship. They were extremely diligent about managing dust and mess; the only sign that they had been in the house were the new vents in the ceiling. As an architect, I have the opportunity to work with a lot of different contractors. We just had Eliott Air demo and remove and ancient gas furnace and expertly install a brand new electric heat pump system. This thing is like a rocket ship compared to our old heater and the guys busted their butts to get it right. From the start Alberto was super accommodating, straight forward, honest and nice. This one absolutely a great company. I haven't hired a better company in many years. While estimating, they crawled both my attics, and my crawl space, diagramed the areas, suggested solutions that no other company had even mentioned. I had a rat infestation under my house and in both my attics. After sealing all entry areas, and replacing ruined insulation, I had to replace all my ducting because the rats had chewed through it. This is the only company that suggested I use hard aluminum ducting instead of the cheaper and now commonly used wire mesh ducting which rats can penetrate in minutes. This was more expensive but solves the issue of keeping my ducts rat proof if the little devils ever find their way in again. This company was professional, extremely polite and totally competent. They corrected all my ducts and access and registers to proper size, added air conditioning, and took care of repairs in my top attic. They added dampers after the job was done to make the best even distribution of heat. I am now warm and happy and will continue to recommend this company to all my acquaintances. My experience. I called and explained that I needed some duct work repaired after critter invaded our crawl space. I was quickly asked, "Are you a new customer?" I replied that I would be. We have had EAS to our house 4 times, then finally asked them not to return.Two summers ago our AC in the upstairs unit quit working. Craig came and diagnosed the problem, Suggestions included replacing entire system (it was 15 years old) or replacing some "board." We went with the cheaper suggestion. Alberto came later to perform the service. Fixed. Winter comes along and now we have no heat upstairs. Alberto comes and said it's not working because the AC and heater wires were crossed. I mentioned that he was the last person working on the unit, and since we've had heat for 15 years I was curious why it just stopped now. He had no answer. He switched the wires, and we paid him a few hundred dollars. Fast forward to this summer. AC not working upstairs. Alberto comes and cleans coils for me and says it's working. I say it's not like it should be. He shrugs. I pay him and he leaves. Then lower unit AC stops working. Alberto comes and does something with a wire, fixes it. Pay him a few hundred and he leaves. Couple days later it's not working again. This time I call and say I don't want Alberto back, send Craig Elliott. Long story short, Craig says I need a new motor. Luckily my husband was there this time and asked Craig to show him why we need a new motor. Husband makes another suggestion and Craig says, oh, yeah, Voila, no need for new motor. Husband replaces a wire and it's working. Also Alberto must make up his own pricing because he charges $65 travel time above all his other charges. Craig doesn't charge a travel fee. Don't they work together? Only saying if EAS suggests a big expense during their diagnosing of your repair, get a second opinion. read more

EAS completely replaced our 1930's furnace and ducts 12 years ago. Alberto suggested putting the new furnace in the crawl space which saved us living space. The price was very fair and it worked flawlessly until last Friday. It was my fault because I hadn't replaced the filter after last summer's fires when I'd run the fan 24/7 during the weeks of unhealthy smoke in the air. The filter clogged and the system shut down automatically. Alberto came out, checked it, and confirmed all was well. He's knowledgeable and honest. He showed me how to read the system LED light in case of a failure. If and when we ever need a new furnace, I will call EAS. read more

I got an estimate from the Service Express from,Costco, for a zonal system. My furnace is a simple one stage. The sales rep tried to sell me a multiple stage system. They estimated the whole thing to about $13,000. Now if i did use my present system, it would be over $6000. of course that would include the zone system. I had few other estimates that were less, but not that much. I would like to emphasize that most, if not all, of people who estimated the job were not licesed by contractor's board. Well, not until i talked to this guy Alberto, who was licensed--I checked it in the internet.. He said that closing any of the heat register is not a good idea for the furnace--and he explained the reason. He suggested moving the thermostat to the bedroom and adding bigger or wider hoses to match fcm(i do not i know if i spelled this right). He also was going to add weight adjustment device to each duct. They said to test it for several days to see if the adjustment was okay for us--If not, call them at no charge. The estimate: $400. They adjusted each duct, the flow and temperature. They finished it in 2 hours. Now my thermostat is controlling the upstairs and my bedroom better. My suggestion: Do not accept any explanation or estimate from any non-licensed person...... read more

Alberto installed a completely new system, both furnace and A/C, in my old house and it was great. He was professional and very conscientious. There was absolutely no hesitation when my wife an I bought a new house and needed to replace the furnace and A/C. These guys are great. Of course, it was the coldest week of the year when my tenant called to say the furnace had gone out. EAS dispatched a crew the same day. They immediately got it running again but, they were very clear that it probably would not hold up much longer after all it was over 40 years old. When it finally gave out, the owner came out the same day, gave me a quote, and replaced it. Two days later the owner came out again because the tenant was unfamiliar with 2-stage heating system. They do adequate work on what they do but mysteriously no matter what they do it doesn't last. On both my house and my mother's house something always breaks down after only a month. The system in my house is a heat pump and has only 2 years use on it. Every time they come out they claim it is always a different problem, never the same thing. Last month I paid them $657 dollars and now 29 days later the system is broke down again and again they say it is nothing to do with their work. At first I believed them but when the same thing happens over and over I'm starting to question if perhaps while fixing one problem they create another to insure future business to get to come back again over and over and over. It was 104 on Sat 6/27/09 and our AC went out!!! I called 3 places, 2 were booked until Tuesday and the other never picked up. I found EAS on Carrier's website...I called EAS and was able to reach Craig via his cell. He walked me through some troubleshooting, which saved me about $100 or so. He came out on Sunday and pinpointed the issue. On Tuesday the part was delivered and Alberto, his partner, installed it. Under warranty and Craig took care of the paper work. All home service/repair places should work like this; help isolate the issue with the customer and have them repair it if possible if not show up and fix it quickly since most of the troubleshooting has been done. I cannot say enough about how these guys came in and saved us this holiday season. Rodents had gotten into our ducting system and destroyed it. Leaving us with no heat and a horrible smell. We had worked with Alberto over the summer when the heat was unbearable and our air conditioner went out on us. He came late one night when no one else could see us for at least a week and fixed our issue for a reasonable cost. This time I called him immediately and he came out the next day. Alberto and his brother George did some repairs and improvements to our system. Very conscientious and careful. Alberto also replaced one register and the part he brought was the wrong size. Alberto was amazing. I bought a Gree ductless air conditioner and heater system from home depot for my in-law rental unit. I had a different contractor install it and unfortunately couldn't complete the job properly. I called 10 other businesses on Gree's website to see if someone could come check the the install and see why the inverter wasn't turning on. The other companies either wouldn't work on the unit because of the brand, or didn't want to fix different contractors mistakes, or they just wouldn't drive 10 miles to Oakland. I called Elliott's in desperation and Alberto agreed to come out and take a look within an hour. He was very knowledgeable and figured out all the mishaps and fixed them all. He even made time to fix an issue that another heating company made on my furnace. i have had to deal with a handful of heating/cooling companies this year and had issues with all of them.
