AWFUL SERVICE! I'm going to start by saying we waited 45 minutes after being served for anyone to come to our table! After our waitress took our order, she brought drinks and we never saw her again. No drink refill, no silverware, no help. We had to get or own silverware, tried to get drink refills, but no one paid attention to is. We watched the one other waiter, wait on every table in the restaurant except for ours. We got there at 1:35pm and didn't leave until 3:01pm. All because no one would wait on our table. The menu prices were also lower than what was on our bill. One of our party asked for a Caesar salad with his meal and wasn't given it. They came out and said they didn't understand what that was. However I order the romaine salad that came with Caesar dressing. So not understanding what a Caesar is doesn't make sense. I wanted to write about how good the food was, but because the service was so bad i just couldn't find a way to say something positive. Very disappointed! read more

We were headed to Santa Fe to take our son and his wife to dinner for his Birthday. Mike actually suggested Field Goods Kitchen. We got there a,little early and were NOT impressed. No one was there at 6 and we're having many negative thoughts about the place. When our son and his wife arrived, it was obvious they had eaten here a number of times. What a pleasant surprise! I had the Bad Ass BLT as did Mike. His wife had a kale salad and my husband had the New Mexico sandwich. Mike said we had to have a side of potatoes and we ordered one with Christmas. OMG!! This place was a real surprise. It's in a strip shopping center, and doesn't look like much on the outside. Step in, and things get better. The staff was right on top of things, and we had a really nice dinner with food that pleased everyone in our party. It's a little noisy but that's probably because I'm a geezer. This is a great place to go if you like fantastic quality food and craft beer, but you should know that a dish of onion rings with 7 rings and chile on it costs 2.75 more than half a pound of mussels with bread. That's almost 14 bucks for those onion rings. Chips and salsa will set you back around ten bucks, not much less than the enchilada plate, possibly more if you ask for more chips ($3). The prices make no sense to me at all, but you are getting great quality stuff. It's a nice, cozy dive that you'll enjoy that has a good menu, just be prepared to be a bit baffled by the inconsistent pricing model that may cause you to spend more than you would expect on done if the bar food. read more

Delicious food. The New Mexican sandwich was wonderful. The patatas bravas with kimchi was one of the top 5 things I have eaten so far in 2019. It could be a five-star joint, but everything about it is a little too informal for its own good. The tables are too close together, the staff is a little too laid back and loud, the single bathroom is dingy. A better location and more professional service and this would be a truly great restaurant. It kind of seems like they're cool with it as it is, though, that they're going for the chaotic, informal vibe. I'll still return. read more

Had the ground bacon burger and cherry creme soda. Both were tasty, as were the field potatoes and the serving size for the burger and potatoes were generous. Food was delivered quickly (in 10 minutes or so). Only complaint is the cost - $23.58 with tip (no alcohol) is too much for lunch. I think the 'Chef' has taken himself too seriously badly re-creating food and dishes that should have been left simple and tasty without adding his own spin, basically drowning them in unnecessary sauces, oils, dips. And combining items that do not belong together unless you are a novice and experimenting. Wish he would leave his experiments elsewhere. This is my third try at this restaurant and I have to downgrade my review. The service on a slower afternoon is good and everyone is friendly. The tea (from the tea house) was OK... We decided to do a three-tier approach to the food. We ordered 2 portions of the BLT. (How hard is it to make a BLT?" Both of us ate about five bites. The patty was too thick, there wasn't enough tomato, and the lettuce was kind of scattered. The sandwich simply doesn't hold up. The potatoes were great. I also ordered the mushroom soup, but it was totally outclassed by another bistro on one of our backstreets. And again, no Wifi, even though they have two channels available (both locked... WHY?) When I brought the leftovers home and gave them to my roommate, he could only take one bite because it was too rich... I really think that three strikes does it for this restaurant... Someone recommended it to me, it was easy for me to get to, and prided themselves on being very "local." Cool beans. At least they were friendly and nice but geez, there's only so many ways you can screw up the orders and only so many times I should have to ask for water, ketchup, or whatever. I ordered the buffalo burger. I was eagerly awaiting the rich, meaty deliciousness topped with green chili. Then probably 45 minutes passed. I finished my strawberry beer and was never asked if I wanted another (by the way, the Straw Gator was really good for a fruity beer). So we continued to wait, and wait, and wait. Until finally our waitress remembered our existence and said she'd check on our food. About 5 minutes later, one of the cooks comes out with a Cubano. Yeah, not really sure what happened there but by the look on the cook's face, it seemed they were getting a bit frustrated at something with the orders. She says they can have the correct order out in 10 minutes (THEN WHY THE HELL WASN'T IT OUT THAT FAST TO BEGIN WITH?!) but rather than chance it, I stick with the Cubano. I really wanted a buffalo burger but if an order is going to get messed up, at least it wasn't something totally weird. I could live with a Cubano It was good but not the best I've had. Too much mayo something or other on it but still decent. No mustard that I could detect. Which reminds that I never got the mustard i asked for...twice. The onion rings were good- nice and crispy. The potatoes that come standard with almost everything my fellow dining adventurer had were nothing to write home about. He had the New Mexican and said it was underwhelming. The waitress felt bad and gave us dessert for the wait and the order screw up. We got a chili chocolate/fudge sampling. One had a caramely awesomeness with pinion nuts and a bit of a bite and the other was basically fudge with a chili kick dusted in cocoa powder. Pretty good. Probably better than the meal itself, actually. The check came and, like our order, was completely screwed up. I was charged for the Cubano as well as the Buffalo burger that never made an appearance. I guess the buffaloes escaped out back? Fortunately the service wasn't unpleasant it was just so....darn...slow. It took almost 2 hours to get out of there for absolutely no reason. I understand having an off-night (what she admitted to having) but this just flat out didn't seem like she knew what she was doing. I'm willing to give it one more go but my dining partner is not. Overall rating: meh. Update: Scratch that, I am not willing to give it one more go. See below. Ok, my verdict will remain a solid two stars. Why? So the leftovers were like mayo with a side of sandwich all on one side. I literally could taste NOTHING but mayo. I tried my dining partner's leftovers- same deal. Who the hell puts a metric sh*t ton of mayo on a BBQ sandwich? People who have no idea what they're doing, that's what. Like most Yelp reviews, people either love or hate their experience. I am not going to recommend this restaurant one way or another. I just want to give people a heads up if you decide to go. We saw the onion rings on the menu and based on the price of 10.75 we figured you would be getting way too much for an appetizer. We asked if we could get a half order and were told no that was not possible. We went ahead and ordered. As we were reviewing the menu for our main course we saw that for a $1.50 you could add onion rings to any sandwich. We called the waiter back but were told the order was already put in and we could not cancel. Thanks for telling us when we asked for a half a order. 7 onion rings for $10.75. Ummm....you need to go to customer service training 101. We went out of our way to make sure we paid you in cash because of your failures. On top of that you didn't even conceive of an option that could have offered us something along the lines of a 20% discount on a future visit or maybe one meal for free or something like that. This was the best restaurant that we experienced in Santa Fe - hands down! I had the Goat Torta, which had goat cheese infused with habanero peppers. It was spciy, but good. My husband had the El Cubano, which he said was the best that he had ever had - anywhere. The sandwiches were huge, so plan to share. I also had the green chili stew that was probably the best that I had while in NM. The service was OUTSTANDING! When we arrived it was jam packed, but the waiter moved a chair from the bar to a high top table and we were all set. The waitress was perfect and out table was visited no less than 4 times while we were eating to check and make sure that everything was okay. Everything smells so good. We found this place by checking out yelp reviews, otherwise I never would have noticed it in the shopping center. So glad we lucked upon it. We stopped in for a late brunch and everything smelled delicious. It's a small dining room so not great for groups but with just two of us, we found room at the bar. Clearly a place locals frequent since the staff seemed to know a good portion of the guests around us. The Bloody Marias are huge and the cherry limeade was nice and tart. I made the mistake of not upgrading my potatoes to the bravas which I drooled at as every plate went by. Dr Field Goods took over the old Santa Fe Bar and Grill, where we were regulars, so we were predisposed to like the place, hoping they'd keep the reliable menu go-tos. The visit was an extreme disappointment. We ordered a bowl of green chile stew, and the trout. We waited over 30 minutes to get the food. This was not our server's problem -- we know him from the prior ownership -- he's good. The green chile stew was tasteless (and that's hard to do -- hint: salt helps.) The trout was cooked well but the 'florentine rice' (meaning they put something green in it) was flavorless and the accompanying vegetables were overcooked mush. It was so bad we took the rare step of complaining to the manager. Another disappointment. He acknowledged that they knew the stew needed flavoring, and said 'this is not who we are.' Well, news flash, yes, it is. You served food you knew was substandard, and didn't care enough to make it right for your customers. That is who you are. read more

The BOTTOM LINE: While Dr. Field Goods Kitchen puts out some yummy food, the hit-or-miss nature of the execution, and the slightly high prices make it so that I'm unlikely to go here, unless it's for fresh ginger ale. In my experience (3-5 times), Dr. Field Goods Kitchen is hit-or-miss, which is why I've given the place several tries. The ingredients are fresh and wonderful, but many times, the food leaves me feeling frustrated, because the execution doesn't measure up to the ingredients. I get the feeling that the chef doesn't have confidence in the ingredients or his cooking and just figures that if you throw more unhealthy (fat (ahem, mayo), salt, etc) at the food, that that will cover any imperfections and people with love the food. Examples: One of the most popular items seems to be the patatas bravas, which you can get with red or green chile. While I love the fact that these potatoes are crisp and garlicky, there's simply too much mayonnaise to the point of making me and my friend ill even though we shared an order and didn't eat anything else. The fish and chips on potato skins similarly had too much mayonnaise in the coleslaw and not enough seasoning. The batter was also underseasoned, which was a shame, because the fish itself was flaky and good quality. The goat torta would've been delicious, except the habanero sauce made it inedibly spicy. You're thinking, "She's just a wimp," but that's not true. I LOVE spicy food, and my scale of spicy if shifted really hot as someone who's been living in New Mexico for several years and who loves spicy Asian food. The habanero sauce made the torta so spicy that it obscured the great flavors of the goat and coleslaw. Two things that are AWESOME here: 1) The fresh-made ginger ale 2) The heirloom tomatoes However, Dr. Field Goods strategy seems to be working, since the place gets a good crowd, but I feel like this is also a function of the establishment's "indie-cool" image, and the fact that the options in Santa Fe, especially where there's convenient parking, are limited. As far as the ambiance, it's a personal preference, but I dislike how there are several TVs as if the place doesn't know if it's a cozy upscale pub restaurant or a sports bar with TVs that just distract from the dining/socializing experience. read more

Santa fe is lacking in food stuffs of lore and wonder.... this place is ambient in a non-"southwester" way.. ie: non tourist, non-pretense.. Got a handmade ginger ale and a Cubano sandwich.. I came in a little skeptical, the mood I was in was a little frantic and the atmosphere at first wasn't appealing. (Keep in mind I'm pregnant as I write this) We sat down and waited for our other couple to arrive, the music was blaring, the fan above was so strong it made my eyes burn, and the parties surrounding us were just unpleasant. I overheard the bartender let the table next to us know that a party of eight was coming in and they had reserved that table before the couple sat down...first thought in my head, "Oh, hell no! I'm not sitting next to a rowdy group of eight!" We decided to move to the bar, which was waaaaay better! No fan in my face, immediate service from the bartender, and no super rowdy party of eight (which actually turned out to be 12, jerks!) all up in my business. The only only difficult thing being pregnant, is choosing from the menu. I'm a cheese lover, (even more because I'm a hungry fat pregnant lady!) yet the choices of pasteurized cheesy goodness are limited to only American cheese. There were a lot of menu items that I couldn't enjoy, but will immediately after this little girl pops out! So, my cravings for pizza and tomatoes led me to the Margherita Pizza with American instead of Mozzarella. It was amazing, and my baby and I were very satisfied...even without the delicious looking Chile Cheese Fries. Though a little drafty with fresh winter winds, Field Goods was cozy, restorative, and homey, with intelligent, friendly servers who gave honest, no-nonsense recommendations: The Brussels sprouts, the pizza margarita, another glass of the Sauvignon Blanc. A last minute addition of sausage on the pizza overwhelmed the delicacy of tomatoes and natural mozzarella, but the Brussels sprouts, savory with pulled cheese and bacon, were spot-on. I'm not sure why this cramped hole-in-the-wall restaurant is so wildly popular. I ordered a 'bowl' of the green chile and pork stew. The stew was tasty, but the portions were small - more like a cup of stew - and the price was high. My partner ordered a house garden salad with steak, which was good, but again not for the steep price. Lunch for the two of us, with ice tea to drink, was $35, which is one of the more expensive lunches I've had in a diner in a shopping strip. It's difficult to have much faith in a business that starts with a lie. I found Dr. Field Goods Kitchen through a search for Santa Fe wifi, which I needed for a meeting. I even called to see if they have wifi and was told that they do. It turns out that wifi is for office, not for patrons. But, they are happy to give you the password for the wifi from a business two doors down. Unless they have an agreement with them, that is unethical. And, two doors down does not give strong enough wifi for a business meeting. The fish tacos could use a little less condiments and more fish. The service was fine except when I arrived 10 minutes early, I got to go back and sit in my car instead of being invited in to wait. read more

Because holy mother of god this place deserves every star in existence from here to the outer limits of the known galaxy. I love everything about Dr. Field Goods. Well, okay, the name kinda sucks but that's the least important aspect of any restaurant for a customer like myself. The menu appears as though it was put together by the gods of everything delicious in this world. I highly recommend the guacamole and Cuban sandwich but it really doesn't matter what you order because i can guarantee it's going to blow your mind. The enchiladas are also a highlight. And what's better to wash it all down with than a local brew. I wish I had the balls to post pictures of my face while eating the food here because I feel as though that would truly convey the feelings I have towards this place. My review is a few months late but I recall my experience at the restaurant. A friend wanted to try this place due to the reviews he heard from others. It is a small place but has a decent layout of tables and chairs. The menu options are decent. We ordered the fish bowl, I don't recall the exact dish name but it came with grilled fish, beans, and several toppings. It was good! We were randomly served a bowl of pho. The server wasn't clear with why we were given a bowl but we thought it was complementary haha. Turns out it wasn't. But we never ordered the dish. It was an interesting bowl of pho. My friend never had pho so I had to tell him it was far from authentic pho. Overall experience was meh. The fish bowl was good, pho was subpar, service was okay. Not your average cafe'...this small eatery is a hidden gem in a small shopping center just around the corner from Meow Wolf. Artisan hand made sodas are gulp-worthy, deliciously sweet and so satisfying you won't miss the fact that they don't serve commercial sodas. My disappointment at no Diet Coke was quickly forgotten after the first sip of my cherry limeade. The Bad Ass BLT was juicy and slathered with creamy mayo on a house made bun. This was more of a burger, which was a tasty change from the regular BLT. The Ribeye Hog Tie was crammed with perfectly cooked, tender ribeye and dressed to perfection with the house fixings on a French baguette. Our kids split a wood fired pepperoni pizza and finished it off in 10 minutes! They have a "Beat the Meat" challenge but we did not partake. I read the reviews before I headed in myself. Talk around town is mostly positive, and some of the guys in the kitchen really liked what they got, so I decided to check it out myself. I got a take out Cubano (Everyone I've talked to says that one is money.) I was not disappointed. I can easily see this becoming a favorite restaurant for me and my friends. The fresh oregano in the cabbage slaw really set this sandwich apart from similar sandwiches I've had. After browsing their menu I'm already planning my next trip. Sandwich was eaten not 10 minutes ago, and I want to taste more. The restaurant space is very small but I found it more intimate than crowded. If you're planning for something more than casual I might call ahead to find out about seats. I was tempted to write a scathing review because I was put on hold for 17 minutes and ended up calling back to get through, but when I went in, I saw a lot of ernest, tired faces and I know that look. Yes there will be some slight issues with service, yes they will make mistakes. They're new. If we give them time to iron out the wrinkles I have no doubt they're going to exceed all of our expectations. Rather than stay angry I became excited to see where these guys go. The culinary talent is there, the toys are awesome (wood fired pizza oven in the bar area? Hell yes.) And the people look like they're dedicated. Give them a chance Santa Fe. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised with Dr Field Goods! We went in on a Friday afternoon and they were packed. (Always a good sign) We went in for drinks because we heard that had a good beer selection on tap but weren't that hungry. They had a great variety and as we sipped our beers we were enticed by the menu. We wanted to try the New Mexican sandwich that had pulled pork marinated in green chile. There was a little hesitation because the plate was $14. So, we got the plate to share and boy am I glad we did! It was delicious! We upgraded the side to the patatas bravas which are potatoes with an aioli sauce, those were awesome too! I wished we had gotten two plates so I didn't have to share! We will definitely be going back to Dr. Field Goods and next time we will bring our appetites. read more

I have heard great things about this little local place and today i was able to make it. I walked in and it was busy even after the lunch hour, (good sign) i saw several seats open at the bar, I am not a bar eater for the most part although this place seemed to have that "come sit here and eat" feeling to it. I was greeted by a very nice person who welcomed me and asked right away what i was drinking. My usual please ( had never been there but thought it was funny to me) a diet drink as always FYI, please get diet coke LOL... i was told the specials and left to chose from the menu. This menu is simple and very easy to pick out what one would like. I was told the pulled pork sandwich was very good so thats what i was ordering today. A few short minutes of looking over this nice place, which is loud but thats ok it goes with the flavor of the spot. I was served by the chef, and greeted and told to enjoy it. I shall i told him in with a big smile as i looked over the presentation which looked divine. I took one bite and was filled with flavor and joy, a very fine mixture they have combined into this plate, along with three onion rings. I did not leave a crumb anywhere on the plate. I finished and was full as it was just the right amount to be served, and was checked on twice by the staff.
