This was my favorite meal from a week in New Mexico (mostly Santa Fe). Every dish was wonderful and it was a great opportunity to eat local fare. Sky lit, colorful dining room within an historic hotel that's great for window shopping before/after the meal. Service was friendly and attentive. Would definitely eat here again when in Santa Fe.

Fine Santa Fe, New Mexico dining in the heart of central Santa Fe's Plaza area. Great ambiance, pre-dinner cocktails and entertainment while they ready your table. This is one our host's favorite spots to take visitors. The hatch green chili relleno with shredded beef, Christmas sauced was incredible, fresh ingredients, gooey cheese, flavorful, spicy. Spicy pineapple margarita to accompany. A must when in the plaza.

We were here for their prefix Thanksgiving dinner. What a great experience. It is situated in the historical hotel. We arrived a bit earlier to our reservation. While waiting for our table, it was great to take some time admiring the architecture of this building with all the details all around. Plenty of seating available. We were guided to our table. Brian was our waiter and he was wonderful. He took care of a number of tables and we were all well cared for. I got the corn chowder, the seabass and the chocolate lava cake. Each kids ordered prime rib dinner, one with cheesecake and the other got brownie. I had a couple of bruts and kids had lemonades. My Brut was very crisp, good body and some floral note. My kids enjoyed their lemonades. I really enjoyed my corn chowder. Balanced flavor and the right type to kick off dinner. The sea bass was fresh and nicely flavored. I loved my lava cake. Moist and chocolaty. Kids enjoyed their prime ribs. We enjoyed the details around the restaurant and the building. It was a great time.

At 5pm on a Thursday evening, the dining room was completely empty aside from one other table. The service was very slow even though there were several servers standing around and talking to each other. Pros: the table side guacamole was delicious and flavorful. Cons: the chips with the guacamole came straight from a bag, likely Tostitos. The sea bass was extremely bland. My dirty martini tasted like water and vodka, no vermouth. I almost threw up when I tasted the olives in my drink- they were so bitter and salty- perhaps they'd gone bad. Maybe it was an off night.

The restaurant is quite lovely. My waiter, Brian, was very enthusiastic and friendly. Shrimp cocktail was inconsistent, watery, and lacked flavor. Ordered the chile rellenos with the additional filet. The filet was cooked well, but absolutely no flavor. A little salt and pepper would have elevated this tremendously. Chiles were both very underdone and difficult to cut. Sauces (red and green) were both okay, but not very savory. Ordered the flan for dessert. Caramel sauce was the kind that was squeezed out of a bottle and not traditional sauce made during baking. Flan lacked traditional flavors but was okay. Again, service was spot on. Unfortunately the food did not hold up to that level.

La Plazuela is located in the historic La Fonda hotel. We had reservations and were seated right away when we arrived. There were three in our group. Our server for the evening, Angel, greeted us and got us set up with glasses of Pellegrino with lime wedges. I ordered their Silver Coin Margarita. It is made with Mi Campo Blanco, Cointreau and fresh lime. I opted for the tajin rim. My sis-in-law requested a dry martini with a lemon twist. We perused the menu and made our selections. This was my daughter's first time being able to order an entrée "Christmas" style with both red and green chili smothering the dish. She chose the enchiladas with chicken, pinto beans and it included pazole, sour cream, guacamole and pico de gallo. She enjoyed every bite. My sis-in-law selected the Coctel de Camaron, a combination of poached shrimp, spicy tomato broth, avocado, cucumber, onion, cilantro and lime. It came with tortilla chips. She also had the Strawberry Spinach salad. This creation had baby spinach, strawberries, goat cheese, green apples, red onion and roasted piñon all in a white balsamic-bacon vinaigrette. She thoroughly enjoyed her choices and it went well with her martini. I am a fan of a good stuffed chile. I chose the Rellenos De La Fonda with cheese and Christmas style. Mine came with a choice between black and pinto beans. I selected pinto. It also included pazole, guacamole, pico de gallo and sour cream. What a treat! The Hatch green chiles were meaty. I enjoyed the sides and toppings. The red and green chili smothering was delicious. It all went well with my margarita. After dinner, we chose to share the chocolate mousse which came topped with a scoop of prickly pear sorbet, garnished with fresh raspberries and raspberry coulis. My sis-in-law and I both ordered a cup of coffee with this treat. I went for decaf which was quite delicious. We all enjoyed the dessert. Overall great experience. The staff is welcoming and the service is top notch!

I ate breakfast at La Plazuela restaurant inside the Hotel La Fonda in Santa Fe. Not once but twice. We went to the hotel to look at the architecture and were so charmed by the atmosphere in the restaurant that we decided to have breakfast the first morning. Everything was really delicious and the service was very attentive. The restaurant is historic and it's in a historic building + many famous people have traveled through this space. I loved it! The first morning I ordered bacon and eggs with country potatoes and toast. The toast was delivered with homemade orange marmalade which was out of this world. Good. The second morning I ordered huevos mortulenos, which for me was a step out of my comfort zone. It was absolutely delicious! Again, service was on point this morning as well. I loved everything about my experience at La Plazuela and would highly recommend it as a stop in Santa Fe.

The interior is very nice. Just so comfortable but with a little bit of sophistication. The servers are excellent and very helpful and polite. Really great service. The food was good. Well presented with decent flavors. We celebrated a birthday and it was a very nice experience.

If you're tired from walking the historic plaza and gallery districts, stop into La Plazuela for courtyard dining. The setting is a world away from it all, with an artsy vibe that includes hand-painted glass tiles, a candle-surrounded fountain, and authentic historic charm. It's hard to have a "light" lunch here, as the food is hearty and delicious, including the tortilla soup and chicken salad. The service was friendly and professional as well. A lovely way to find a relaxing break in your sightseeing day!

Stopped in for a cocktail and a snack after shopping all day. Time for some libations! The four of us had: a Makers Mark Manhattan neat, a Herrudura Margarita on the rocks, a Dos Equis and a Cucumber & Jalapeño Margarita up. All were well mixed, not overly strong, and very nicely garnished. We heard a stomach growl amongst a party so we order some sweet potato fries and the Short Rib Nachos---so good! The service was quick, attentive, and the setting in lobby of La Fonda can't be beat for ambiance. Also they have live music regularly so that increases the fun factor ten fold. Give them a try, and stay for dinner at La Plazuela. Four stars!

Beautiful historical hotel. Beautiful lighting, painted glass, fountain. Theadobe style hotel iconic. The staff great. The cocktails refreshing. The edith Waldorf salad perfect and the chili con quesso was classic .

Just off the plaza. Lovely building and atrium. Service was prompt and attentive. Tableside guacamole was fun for the family and also delicious. The tortilla soup and the sopaipilla were a hit with the younger set. Grilled eggplant: no complaints. The blue plate special: the prawns were grilled and spiced well, but the chicken and pork were quite overdone and difficult to consume. $350 for a 5 person meal. You be the judge.

The La Plazuela is located in the La Fonda hotel right off the lobby. The decor is very bright, cheerful and done in the local Southwest style. We had breakfast twice during our stay and lunch once. The food is delicious, and funny enough all three meals we ended up with the same server, and once he recognized us, he was very friendly and we had great service. The ambiance is nice, the fountain in the middle adds a very nice touch, and we sat next to the fountain once and it was lovely. The short rib tacos were really tasty and the shredded short rib was so tender it melted in your mouth. The tacos were served with green rice with pine nuts and black beans. For breakfast we enjoyed avocado toast, unlike any I have had. It was wheat bread with almond fig jam, arugula, avocado, onion and a scrambled egg on top. Mr. B had the Huevos Motulenos, two eggs over easy on top of two corn tortillas covered in Tomatillo salsa, Queso Fresco, black beans on the side and a delicious grilled plantain. It was so delicious I ordered it on our last morning and Mr. B went with the Breakfast Burrito which he said was wonderful. We have had many experiences with hotel restaurants that haven't always been the best, but La Plazuela was a welcome surprise and we highly recommend it.

If you're in Santa Fe and not ordering the tamale plate at Tres Colores, you're doing it wrong…read more This dish is the definition of New Mexico done right--two perfectly steamed tamales, one smothered in rich red chile and the other in savory green chile. The red has that deep, earthy flavor with just the right kick, while the green brings a brighter, roasted heat that balances everything out. Together? That classic "Christmas style" combo that hits on every level. The masa was soft and flavorful (not dry like you get at some places), and the filling was generous and well-seasoned. The sides sealed the deal--fluffy Spanish rice, hearty beans, and a fresh, crisp salad that cut through the richness perfectly. Portion size was solid, presentation was clean, and everything tasted like it was made with care--not rushed, not watered down for tourists. Service was quick, friendly, and exactly what you want when you're trying to keep a night moving. Authentic, satisfying, and exactly what you hope for when you come to Santa Fe. I'd order this again without hesitation!!!

We thought we might have got the closing time mixed up so once we found a parking spot, I went over to ask. They said they were moving all of the tables so that they could clean the concrete pathway. We asked if it was OK we sat outside still with our dog and they said that was fine. They moved us to the other side of the pillar which we originally didn't mind but then quickly realized there's no lighting there. So we were eating dinner in a very dim lit area. After reading the reviews, we were excited to try the fish tacos, tamales, and fresh chips and salsa. Unfortunately, none of these really were superstar standouts for us. The blackened fish didn't have a ton of flavor. I found myself searching for a salsa that had a little bit of salt and flavor to spruce up the fish taco. I ate one of the three and my husband ate the remaining. The tamales tasted fresh and the ratio of protein to masa was great. We ate the tamale mostly without the mole sauce, which we didn't really care for. The salsa and chips that came out as an appetizer were fine. The salsas were different and flavorful. I wish that when they dropped off the different salsas (which they do on a rotation) they would have explained what each one was.

As far as I understand this is a restaurant that serves food and alcohol and not a bar. Shortly after my arrival, there was a large tour with 12 people showed up. I could see that the waiter was a bit flustered because he also had to tend to other customer as well as the tour. I guess this is where the tour take people for authentic taco experience. In my opinion these are more toned down gringo tacos. My taco didn't come with a side of sauce like everyone else. I also noticed that the tour all received a side of salsa which I didn't. I'm not sure if the waiter forgot. I had to flag down the waiter a few time because he also forgot my drink.
