Peruvian food is one of my favorite but I hadn't eaten at this Dr. Limón location yet until last week. I came with a group of friends to have some drinks and small bites. I was pleasantly surprised that the wait was faster than I had expected. As soon as we sat down, we got some leche de tigre and toasted corn, which were very good. To drink, I had pisco sour de maracuyá, which never disappoints. To eat, we had asked for a suggestion of the plate that has different ceviche. However, the server said they do not have a dish like that. Which we found odd because as soon as one of my friends had a picture of the plate she was referring to that she ate at this location and showed it to the server; he knew what we were talking about. We found it strange that he did not suggested when we first asked. This plate brings four different ceviches and they were all delicious. It's the perfect plate if you want to try different flavors of ceviche with a group of friends. We also ordered tostones de cangrejo, which he suggested, but he brought just tostones. When we clarified what we wanted, he brought them. The tostones de cangrejo were delicious as well. Overall, I had a great time and the food was delicious but the service could have been better. The food was very good overall! We started with the crab tostones (not my favorite) and a ceviche, which was fresh and flavorful. For our main dishes, we had the Seco de Res and the Jalea--both were absolutely delicious and definitely the highlights of the meal. For dessert, we ordered Suspiro to sing "Happy Birthday" to my mom, and it was perfect--such a great way to celebrate! I had a Chilcano, which I really enjoyed, but the Marajito unfortunately wasn't good at all. Overall, a great experience with some standout dishes! read more

My latest obsessions with Ceviche (Peruvian Style) has taken me to many Peruvian restaurants in South Florida, and one of the best, in my humble opinion, is none other than Dr. Limon, and more specifically, the Kendall location. This restaurant is not that big and it is a bit out of the way, but that hasn't stopped fans to flock into it, but if you go early evening, you can quickly be seated. The greeting person is always nice and very welcoming. The ambiance is casual and that is perfect for me. There's always a lime sitting on the table when you arrive. I always though a small stethoscope on those limes would be so perfect. The first thing that is brought to you is a small shot of Leche de Tigre, which is a perfect start for a Ceviche junkie like me. They have the traditional Ceviche, which is amazing, and if you want a bit more, there are 3 other variations: Fiebre Alta, Anestésico, Fiebre Amarilla. They are all good and I can never make up my mind, so I go round Robin whenever I am there. But if you are hungry, for just a dollar more, you can get a 3-layer Ceviche with all the flavors, and more fish than in some lakes. Aside from Ceviche, you cannot go wrong with Causa Acevichada, Chaufa is always good, and if you are adventurous, anticuchos is amazing. I don't see it on the menu online, but i know i have had it there. The prices are very reasonable, except for Pisco Sours. Just a couple of them and you are paying almost twice as much for Pisco Sours as you do for the meal. Given the amount that is served, how little pisco is in it, and it is mostly foam from egg whites, I find this to be the only thing that is unreasonably priced. But no worries, they have a bar, plenty of beer, including a couple that is their own, and you'll have a great time at Dr. Limon. Can't wait to go back, probably tomorrow night read more

Sobredosis de chocolate with Lucuma ice cream: Peruvians are known for good chocolate cake and this one was good and rich, but let's talk about that ice cream...Lucuma tastes like something familiar and cozy. We visited Dr. Limon on a very busy Sunday night. Having no inside tables available, we reluctantly sat outside, and in the end, we're glad we did. The seating turned out to be comfortable and the service was excellent. From start to finish, our waitress was attentive and accommodating. Our party tried a variety of dishes including the Pulpo for appetizer, the Pesacdo a lo Macho, and the Tallarin con Churrasco. For drinks, we tried a Peruvian beer and a Passionfruit cocktail (both were fantastic). After hearing so much hype on Dr. Limon, we were pleasantly surprised to discover it did live up to what we had heard. The service by far is the best we've had in any of the Peruvian restaurants and we highly recommend giving it a try if you're in the neighborhood. read more

During a quick trip to Miami, Fl I had the opportunity to try this place. It was delicious and fresh seafood. Their speciality "Ceviche". If you like Ceviche you must try this place. As soon as I saw "mofongo" I was sold!! just delicious. But... the reason for the 4 stars is because of the following: Orders must come together at the same time. We had one person with no food for some time. And if we are done eating and an order arrives, gives the courtesy to cancel it or take it off the bill. The waiter pretty much begged me to give him few minutes. He didn't even care I was done eating when a simple grilled shrimp order arrived! It felt as it was my fault it got to the table by the time I was done eating and I still have to pay for it. ‍. I also found the place way too loud. The waiter was pretty much yelling all the time. The food is generally good, service too, prices are very high considering that this place is in a relatively residential area and not on a trendy, tourist, or high profile neighborhood. $8 dollars for a beer is ridiculous and abusive, an appetizer which is basically 80% sweet potatoes is $20. Dollars. For tips they expect 18% and above, basically by the prices being so high you will be paying a much higher percentage tip which is based on your overall purchase. If I ever return to this place would be for take out. This appetizer in the picture is mostly sweet potato, not worth $20 dollars. read more

We were a bit surprised with how great this place was, not sure why because they have many great reviews (deservedly). First thing our server Francine (BTW- she was SUPER helpful and accommodating, she needs a raise) asked was 'does anyone have any allergies?' OMG that was sooooo appreciated, earlier we had been to a couple places that were stunningly oblivious about what is gluten free. Anyway, they are accommodating. Drinks. Wife had a Lychee cocktail and I had a "bubbling" Sangria. Both were great and inventive. Appetizer, short ribs. Fantastic Dinners. Beef Chaufa & Lomo Saltado, both were really good and the portions were very healthy. We both ended up taking some to go. Dessert. A passion fruit Crème Brûlée that was very unique and tasty. Was an overall great meal. Music is a little on the loud side heads up, but the speakers sound really good so I was fine with that, house and Latino tunes.
