I had started going to Dr. Vu's dental office a few years ago when I had pain in my teeth and gums…read more- I thought my teeth were going to fall out! She did an amazing job with a deep cleaning that day (while assuring me that my teeth were not actually going to fall out!) and I have been going for regular check ups and cleanings ever since. She even did a fantastic job straightening my teeth last year with Invisalign. I was hesitant at first because my insurance wasn't going to cover the full amount, but I'm so glad I went through with it. I don't feel my teeth constantly grinding anymore, and I have confidence in myself when I smile now. When you decide to check her office out, you'll notice that her staff is truly warm and professional. They make every visit feel pleasant, and I've never had a bad experience going to my appointment. Easily the most hassle-free doctor's office I've ever been to. Dr. Vu herself is super friendly and personable. I feel she spends the time getting to know you so that you can feel comfortable and relaxed in that chair. She comes off as a professional who knows what she is doing, and you can tell she goes the extra mile because dentistry feels like an art form for her (rather than just a job) - at least to me. Thanks Dr. Vu and everyone at Tu's Dental!

They explain why you need to take care of your teeth, without scolding you for not flossing. (GUILTY) Bonus: you might get a few stories during your visit, which makes everything go by fast-and you'll actually want to come back for the "next episode." Highly recommend for adults and children.

When we started going to Lumia dental, we were extremely pleased with how friendly and competent…read morethey were. It was an added bonus that this was a female owned and run company (of which alas they are still way too few nowadays). Their patient care is excellent and as far as any dental work is concerned, I would highly recommend them. However, as their business grew and expanded, I was starting to worry about what this would mean for their patients. My worries did eventually come true: from a patient based practice, it turned more into a corporate business, and with it, the desire/need for higher profits. As a result, they decided to no longer accept our insurance (Guardian dental, a major dental insurance company) because, according to them, their low fee schedule did not allow them to provide the best care for their patients. Now, that latter is just rethoric, for they were doing an excellent job. Why would that need to stop? No, it was because Guardians fee schedule did not make them enough profit. The way it works is as follows: a dental practice can determine its own fees for various procedures. An insurance company, through collective bargaining, can then negotiate for a reduced schedule for their clients (depending on the local competition). So, accepting an insurance first and foremost means to agree to the collectively bargained fees. While getting less profit, it means a much larger potential client base. This is the power of collective bargaining (which would be so much more effective if health care in the US would be universal, like it is in many other countries and, as a result, also much affordable). For Lumia, however, loyalty to their patients was not deemed as important as getting more profit (perhaps because of the increased costs of having expanded the business) and so they dropped Guardian as one of the accepted insurances. To give one example: our insurance pays the full fee for a cleaning every 4 months. However, they now raised their fee for a cleaning, making us having to pay more than $100 for something that was previously free. And you can guess that with more involved procedures, the out-of-pocket costs gets up even higher. That is why we had to leave Lumia as clients---essentially being pushed out as not being affluent enough clients that do not mind paying much more than they used to---and we now found an equally competent dental clinic in the neighborhood which does accept our insurance. I can only assume that we will not be the only patients leaving the practice, and in the long run, this might seriously damage Lumia (unless they can find enough wealthy clients in the downtown area).

Everyone, from Drs. Hansen and Hoang, to Alice and the front desk staff, to the hygienists, are always so nice and friendly and professional. Next week they start scraping my gums and I'm actually looking forward to it! (okay, that last part's a total lie. But you get the picture.)

I am SO thankful for Dr. Hoang after an absolutely HORRIBLE experience at Prospect Heights Dental…read more(which you can read all about at their Yelp page). After a practice that didn't take covid seriously, did an unnecessary and COSTLY dental procedure that I am still healing from weeks later, hurting my lip, and being just a complete disorganized disaster, I'm really lucky that my second shot at dentistry was so much better. I prefaced in my last review that I made the mistake of not going to the dentist for a long time - granted, I didn't have insurance for 6 months and then the moment I got insurance, covid happened and I got scared. But still, it's reasonable I had a ton of build up/tartar/gum disease and definitely a wake up call for me. At the last dentist, I was told immediately I needed a root and scaling/deep clean without them even doing the measurement thing on my gums, just x-rays. They did the root and scale on my right side but not my left (only one is done at a time), which has left me weeks later with angry miserable gums, gaps in my teeth I didn't prior have, and cost me $500 out of pocket. When I got to Dr. Hoang, she actually took her time examining my x-rays, my gums, and my mouth to find that 1) the deep clean didn't even deep clean, as I still had a bunch of tartar making my gums even more unhappy and 2) my gums weren't as bad as I had thought, and I didn't even need to do a root and scaling/deep clean on the left side. If I had gone to Dr. Hoang in the first place, I wouldn't be still miserable, with ugly and uncomfortable gaps in my teeth that I literally struggle to talk and eat with, and wouldn't be out $500 as all she did was a regular cleaning for me on the left. My biggest disappointment is I didn't go to her first. On top of that she's super sweet, lets you ask questions, doesn't make you feel bad about your obvious mistakes, and makes sure you fully feel comfortable before she does anything. Thank you so much for restoring my faith in dentistry. The practice is also great!!! Sallie from reception was very pleasant over the phone and email, and I'm not sure if it was her or a different receptionist at the front today, but she was great too. Everyone is wearing masks and taking Covid very seriously. They sent out a covid form the night before and took my temperature when I arrived. And...... last thing, they were playing Death Cab for Cutie when I walked in. As a born and raised Seattleite, this made me so happy :)

The last time I was there I saw Dr. Oluremi Ogunsanya for a consultation, and I have to say it was among the most unpleasant encounters I have ever had with a medical professional. Dr. Remi, as he was introduced to me, badgered me, treated me like a child, questioned my referring dentist's diagnosis/credentials and just generally acted like a rude, arrogant teenager. He never even looked in my mouth. I ended up getting my referral back and going to a place that is way less convenient simply because a) if I want to get yelled at, I will ask my boss to extract my tooth, b) he seemed pissed off at me in a way that felt almost personal, although based on other reviews out there, it appears to just be the way he is, and c) I didn't want to give him any of my money. When I went back for the referral and a copy of my X-rays, I could tell from the front desk employees that I was not the first, even though I never said a word about why. And I see other reviews right here on Yelp that have to be about this same doctor. Dr. Amrani is great, but I would be wary of Dr. Ogunsanya.

I will start off by saying that I am terrified of the dentist and have been to so many different…read moreones that I am definitely traumatized. I've also had a lot of work done previously so I hate to be judged by a new dentist/hygienist every time. At the beginning of this year I was looking for a new dentist to finally just get over my fear and make sure I'm all good. I ended up choosing to visit Dr. Steinbach after checking out the different yelp reviews on him and his office. I called and made an appointment and made sure to emphasize that I was nervous. When I walked in the first time, Lisa who works at the front desk was really nice and always helpful. The hygienist and Dr. Steinbach both knew how I felt about the dentist and did their best to make me feel 100% comfortable and they succeeded! Everyone in the office is so welcoming and they make the entire dentist appointment comfortable. I've been to the office about 3 times now and never had to wait to be seen. I have had some root canals done through my previous dentists and Dr. Steinbach recommended that I see an endodontist as they have more of a preventative measure approach so therefore, the endodontist who specializes in root canals can figure out if I need to re-do them or if they're all good. The office is also very modern and the chairs are so comfortable! I can't stress how comfortable I've felt at the office and I don't dread going to the dentist anymore. Highly highly recommend, especially if you have a fear of the dentist.

Environment is very comfortable Dr. Steinbach was the first doctor when I was visiting right after covid ended because I had a root canal during covid that needed a crown. He was very honest with me and told me I would need an implant. It was a very dramatic news for me but they were wonderful. I was referred out to the close by ortho dentist and the came back to get my crown. The entire experience was straight forward and easy. They never tried to upsell me anything. My only issue with this location is the Dental Cleaning. After finishing up the issues with my teeth, I had a dental cleaning and it was extremely painful. I thought it was just normal when I started visiting the Court Side location since it was more convenient for me, Dr. Karpova did my cleaning was literally pain free. I assumed it was cause maybe previously I had dirty teeth This month I did cleaning at this location again since it was convenient and since I been keeping up with all my cleanings it wouldnt be too bad. No, it was very rough and felt rushed. I did not feel comfortable at all. I might try court street again for cleaning, but if its still painful I think I will switching for cleaning. However for other procedures where the actual dentist is working on it, I would absolutely recommend this place.
