In my opinion, the best way to find a professional who does a technical job is based on referral. My previous dentist retired and a friend who I respect referred me to Dr. Pema. He is taken care of my teeth for over a year now and is really good at what he does and has "great chair side manner". My mother who is in her late 80s requires a gentle presence and touch. I was so impressed with Dr. Pema that I have taken my mother to him now and he has continued to be amazing with her. I grew up getting cleanings here but as I got older it has changed the receptionist and some of the technicians make mistakes like thinking my tooth is chipped when it's the same in all my X-rays showing that is just my tooth. So my insurance expired and when I left they asked me if I would like to update my insurance. I said I will let you know if I plan on coming back. Then 3 months later they send me a message for a scheduled appointment, I never made and can't make because one I didn't make it , also I am working so I am not available. The last part of the message then says I would owe $130 when I didn't even make an appointment and I did not confirm for three months I would be returning with them. read more

Dr. Pema is an excellent Dentist and is very knowledgeable in his field. He has the patience to listen to you as you explain any issues you are having with your teeth. Overall, a great experience each time I go, which has been twice a year for at least four years now. The office staff is very kind and welcoming and always remember who I am. The new office they moved to this year is beautiful and modern. It is just across the street from their prior office with the benefit that they now have their own parking lot, altho there are not many parking spaces. I would guess that it is just enough room to accommodate whoever is actually in the office at one time. The office seems to have state of the art equipment and I have always been happy with my care. The only negative is that is seems that the staff (aside from the office staff) are always changing since I always see a different hygienist and dentist when I'm there. That inconsistency is the reason I decided on four stars. Nonetheless, I have felt the care is honest and thorough. Dr. Dharia, the dentist that I had today was excellent. He has had extensive education beyond the typical dentist, including specializing in sedation. He was personable and spent extra time answering all of my questions, although it was the very end of the day. I left very pleased with the excellent care today. Why is there a different dentist every single time I come? The front office staff is great, but I don't feel like I get consistent care when the dentist is new every visit. read more

I've been a patient of this practice for just over three years now and have been to this office multiples times for x-rays and cleanings. The reception staff are friendly and welcoming, and the hygienist I see regularly is kind and professional. All billing related matters are always communicated very clearly and the office is modern, bright and clean. I like and respect Dr. Pema. Dr. Pema is an Invisalign Certified dentist, but referred me to see an orthodontist for my particular case. He provided a referral to Beverly Hills Orthodontics and I'm partially through Invisalign treatment with them. I think it says a lot about a medical provider when they recommend you to another physician so that you'll have the best course of treatment possible; it says that they put the patient first and want what's best for them. Wow still so amazed at my experience with Dr pema and his staff. The staff here is extremely professional as i would highly recommend. No one likes going to the dentist and growing up with old Korean dentists poking around my teeth really made me not like the experience but dr pema really makes sure he explains what he is going to do and makes sure you are comfortable. I think the procedure is adding a crown but pretty much he removed a super old silver filling and added in a dope ass ceramic filling. If this was the 90s they would probably remove the tooth entirely and add a new one but with all of the technology they 3d printed a portion of the tooth and added it with my natural tooth. Was really impressed with the numbing bc back in the day i would get a large shot of novacine and would be super number but he has a way where it makes the single tooth he is working on numb instead of the whole side of your mouth. Insane. Also made sure that my bite is good as i do love my food and he showed me the correct way to floss which i appreciate it. My tooth feels great and it was worth every penny spent! Really like how he explains what he is going to do as dr pema is very professional and very good at what he does. 5/5 would highly recommend read more

I used to attend this office, my last experience was terrible. I went in for a filling and left with nothing being done as the dentist advised I should have a crown and root canal plus other procedures done. I had already had x-rays done the week before, and was told to email my x-rays, I did, but of course when I got there, the dentist at this office wanted more x-rays done her way. I advised I only wanted the filling completed (as I had already been to another dentist who had advised I just needed a filling there. As I was leaving I was given a bill for $3500.00 for a plan to alter most of my teeth. I ended up flying home for the holidays (Australia) where my trusted local dentist said I needed just a filling. I then showed him my paperwork from this dentist's office, to which he said this was aggressive. Terrible business & only in it for the money. Definitely never going back! read more

Super technologically advanced! He numbs you without needles! His priority is always saving the teeth if possible. I came for a second opinion on a cavity another dentist said I needed a root canal on. He was able to fill the cavity without destroying the tooth or needing a root canal! I did need a crown on another tooth but he 3D prints those IN OFFICE WHILE YOUR THERE! So cool! Would highly recommend! read more

I was in need of a new dental office and fast! as my relationship for over a decade with our long standing dental office had gone WAY south after I discovered they were lying and stealing from me. I am a Cigna HMO (yes HMO, cringe- I know) subscriber and while I won't be able to switch to PPO until open enrollment, my girlfriend recommended Nilesh Pema DDS. We generally go to the dentist 2x a year for cleanings and x-rays and it's extremely rare that I ever have any other needs for a visit. I called to see if they had any other providers that my HMO plan would fall under and sure enough they did and were accepting new patients. I had to wait until the first of the month for my provider to switch over and they scheduled me for that very day, June 1st. Not only are they super close to home and in a great neighborhood which saves me from driving to the west valley which made me sick at the mere thought. It took me less than ten minutes to get here from my sons school on a Monday morning, all surface streets no freeway required. I arrived to what I thought was a closed office since I was super early then spotted other patients going in, so I hopped out of the car and went in. This office was up and running and not right at opening time, but beforehand. I was quickly greeted by the friendly gal upfront, filled out a few quick forms via their ipad (which always beats written paperwork). I was called back within minutes of arriving and then greeted again in the room for an x-ray. Everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming and knew this was my first time here. I had a small surface filling repaired on a tooth that I had a very tiny chip on. My son and I will return in August for our cleanings. I look forward to a long continued relationship with this office, since I'm a creature of habit and don't care much for change. I'm really hoping things continue to go swimmingly here. AND the best part! I wasn't lied to or overcharged for services. It's their customer service via email and text that reminded me to post this review. They don't bug you with a bunch of phone calls, like an archaic dental office - this place will pop you a text message and send you an email which in this day and age is very much appreciated. Less than a week after my visit a survey email arrived to my Inbox with a few very short and direct questions that really make sense. You can tell this office wants to ensure their patients are satisfied with the service provided. Oh, and they have TV's to watch in your room while services are being performed. Snazzy! This is my first visit since the COVID lockdown. Actually, I was one of the last patients on March 17th, then they had to close for 3 months. When I arrived at the office, my temperature was checked and there was a hand sanitizing station right at the front door. The receptionist asked me basic questions, did I feel sick or come in contact with anyone who had COVID. No waiting! I was immediately escorted to the dental area to have my x-rays & cleaning. New equipment included an air purifier and another vacuum looking thing that the hygienist placed near my mouth to catch any airborne particles from my mouth. I felt very safe during this visit. I cannot say enough on how happy I am to have finally found a dentist that I am very happy to be under his care. I have seen other dentist in the area in Toluca Lake but none compared the way he took care of my dental needs. Dr Pema is very skilled in his line of work. I picked Dr Pema primarily because they have the Cerac one-visit crown machine. I am very picky and HATE to change dentists, and only change when I have to geographically. I thought my last dentist was very good and had my first one-visit crown with them which is SO MUCH easier and more pleasant than a 2-visit crown. So far, Dr Pema's office has been very good. Only had a cleaning and an exam, but the cleaning was excellent, and the office is clean, and well-run. Plenty of parking in their parking lot. The best cleaning I have had in a long time. read more

I went to a series of dentists all around LA having bad to mediocre experiences until a friend recommended Dr. Pema to me. That was many years ago and I have continued to have an amazing experience here. I have a small mouth and x-rays were often difficult at other places, but Dr. Pema's staff have always handled me with gentleness. Cleanings are fairly easy. Dr. Pema is honest about what procedures may or may not need to happen with no pressure to do something that is unnecessary, which is nice in a world where so many unnecessary things are pushed upon patients. Dr. Pema is amazing! I went in thinking I was going to need 2 root canals and 3 crowns but thanks to Dr. Pema's expertise and high-tech medical equipment, he was able to save me from having to get the 2 root canals. I ended up getting three crowns all which was completely painless, even after the procedure. He even makes the porcelain crowns there at the office in about 10 minutes. Updating: Soooo, I had a spot on my tooth. For like an entire year of going to Toluca Dental, I asked Dr. Pema if it was a cavity, as it looked identical to spots I've had before. He said "oh no, it's just a stain" without hardly even looking at the tooth. Instead, he tried to sell me Invisalign and everything else under the sun! Just by chance I got a dentist (who I believe left the practice already) at an appointment during the week, turns out that spot WAS a cavity and was on the verge of needing a root canal. I was furious, that is something Dr.Pema should've caught a year prior, but disregarded because he got too caught up in his sales pitch. Needless to say, that dentist filled my tooth and I'm now going to another dentist. 2 stars, only because the hygienists they have are some of the best!! read more

Dr Pema ended up saving me a little over $400, no root canal needed (although I came pretty damn close), he worked his magic, placed a crown and sent me on my way to get back to work. Talk about innovative and clean. Such a nice welcoming dental office. I recently switched dentists and started coming to Dr. Nilesh. He is wonderful. One thing that stood out to me the most was the fact that he was so informative and thorough with his explanations and where you currently stand with your teeth health. Joanna did my deep cleaning and man must I add she was so gentle and did a fantastic job. She kept asking me if I was okay and made sure I had the sucker in my mouth at all times so that my mouth was dry enough for her to work on me. Instead of the shot they applied a numbing cream which was insane. It went away by the time they were done. All in the the cleaning felt like a piece of cake. I already started telling my friends and family about this cool, hip, clean and awesome dental office. They also have cold water bottles and a coffee machine inside of the waiting room. I was completely thrilled about the parking, yes they had their own parking lot, which is unheard of on Riverside. This entire experience was worth it and from now on I will not dread going to the dentist. I am glad I touched base with Joanna and Dr. Nilesh. read more

I'm not huge on going to the dentist but I love this place! The staff is super friendly and Dr. Pema has decked out the office with all the latest dental technology. I had a crown and onlay here - Dr. Pema uses this cool system that 3D prints the ceramic inside of a few minutes. I didn't feel a thing and didn't have to get a temporary and come back weeks later to finish. All in one visit and cosmetics are gorgeous! Great experience and highly recommend =] read more

Several months ago I went to this office since it was on my dental insurance. A horror story ensued. I met with Dr. Pema and he was very nice, as was the hygienist who gave me a basic cleaning. X-rays were taken. Then Dr. Pema said my gums and teeth were in great shape but he wanted his periodontist to take a look. I agreed. I went back and was examined by Sarah, the periodontist, who re-measured in my gums for disease, and she proclaimed that many teeth would have to be pulled, things were horrible, and that it would costs thousands. It was basically facial reconstruction and was not what I expected after the positive first office visit with Dr. Pema. I was very upset and called my best friend who told me to get my purse and just walk out. They had already scheduled me for the work. I was traumatized and left, and immediately found another dentist, who stated that I needed nothing of what I had been told and I did the right thing by leaving. In trying to get the records of the visit with Dr. Pema, it was literally like "pulling teeth." I had to physically go in, and get the records as they printed out. The office is so disorganized and I would NEVER suggest that anyone go there. I love my current dentist and have referred several folks there. Do NOT go into a dental office that emphasizes "cosmetic dentistry" as they will want to pull all your teeth and replace them with unnecessary and expensive bridges, false teeth and probably an old saw, if given the chance. This place deserves 0 stars. read more
