I'm new to the area and found Dr. Shah's office right here on yelp. I saw all the wonderful reviews and decided to check it out myself and I was not disappointed! Not only was Dr. Shah's office able to get me in the same day that I called, but I was greeted with such friendly service throughout my whole appointment. Susan who works the front desk was so pleasant and kind as she helped with the initial tests for the exam, then Dr. Shah himself was very kind and knowledgeable, he helped me understand what was going on with my vision and was able to answer any questions I had. Now here is where they went above and beyond. After my initial appointment I needed new glasses, so I chose some frames and they were ordered. Less then a week later they came in but I just wasn't quite happy with how they looked. The frames were a little lighter in color than I remembered as well as they looked big on my face. This was all my fault as I don't think I took adequate time to select them initially so I took them home and decided to try and get used to them. However, after a while I was disappointed as I really wasn't comfortable in them. So I called Dr. Shah and explained my situation and he kindly told me that I could come back in and choose new frames of equal value and that they would be replaced and all I had to pay was shipping. I was so thankful to Dr. Shah and his staff for being so understanding and helpful. No one wants to walk around wearing something they're not comfortable in; the staff knew this and did all they could to help me choose frames that I really loved! Caught my eye through a Groupon 3yrs ago & haven't went anywhere else since. The ladies holding down the fort in the front are always a delight to work with. Feels like family when you walk in. Dr Shah is the best!! I have keratoconus so I need to wear custom designed Scleral Lens. Last week in Las Vegas during my Grandmothers Funeral I accidentally broke one of my Scleral Lens. I had to go blind all week week until I got back home Monday. On my way home(9/13/2021)I called Dr Shah's office and he saw me right away that same day for an eye exam and within 3 days(today 9/16/2021) my new Scleral's are in my possession. Dr Shah and his staff are very professional, very welcoming, and they are very Clean considering all the Covid Protocols and mandates. 4 years ago, I came across this clinic for a last minute eye and contact lens exam. Ever since then, I kept coming back for my regular eye exams because the staffs are very welcoming and helpful. Dr. Shah made sure that my eye health is well taken care of. I suffer from dry eyes and he made sure to recommend a list of good contact lens brands, contact solutions, and even eye drops, just so that my eyes can get better. Finally got an appointment and charged me double because I complained about the lousy experience. Most expensive Optometry in the neighborhood. He claims to be cheap but tons of hidden fees. The glasses or over the top expensive when its all made in China. Creepy and not trustworthy. Will never go back. By the way he tends to report all the negative post and pays yelp to have it remove. Hands down the best optometrist I've ever experienced!! The office is very quiet and peaceful. They welcome you with smiles and happiness it creates a very warm feeling. I called them to have the prescription emailed to me to purchase a new pair of glasses online. They refused to email me my prescription. Really liked the two front desk receptionist from the start. When I called to make my first appointment they were super sweet and were able to check if my insurance covered the first exam. I went in and got greeted by them and some questions answered, my exam was done with one of them. Then they brought me to the back to wait for the Dr. and they have a room with tv screens with the camera recording playing in front of it. I could see the dr going to different rooms and just standing there killing time. Exactly 15 minutes of my time and continuously passing my room and not greeting me or letting me know of the wait. He finally came in with no introduction and just asking me why I came today for my first exam. He right away said he knew what it was and that I'm looking at my phone and laptop screen too much. He did a quick eye exam and said the prescription I needed and that my insurance only covered some frames that it will be only 3 walls I asked how much for the lenses he said $219. That seemed reasonable, the frames were not ugly and I didn't really think I needed nice ones since I would only use them to read or do hw on my laptop but they were so fragile I knew they would break so I asked to see others that were not covered. Picked one out and he gave me the price of close to $500. Didn't see nothing wrong since the lenses were 219. Asked if I can come to pay for it since I didn't have money at the time he agreed. They didn't give me my prescription which by law you are guaranteed without asking. Called later on that week because my bf said I could take my own frames and they can put in the lenses for a cheaper price. Thought that was great, when I called to ask for the pricing they said close to $300. How?! If the lenses at first were $219 and now 300. Seems like they were trying to even out what they wouldn't get for me buying the whole frame and lenses with them. I say avoid this place if you don't like to get scam. read more

But I have a story today that will make me want this place to be my eye doctor for life!! I've worn glasses almost my entire life! In my many years of glasses wearing I've broken a frame or two or three or five... Mostly this happened when I was younger and each time they broke we'd go back to our local eye doctor and see if they could help. Nope. No help. No way. Just gotta get new glasses out of pocket... So when I accidentally broke my frames last night for the first time in 15 years I was in tears. I just got this pair, they were super cute and I did pay extra from my insurance for the cute frames. I knew that there was no helping it and I'd have to go get a totally new pair and have to pay out of pocket. I was inconsolable and very upset the entire night and ended up crying myself to sleep knowing i'm out $300+ bucks on a new pair outside of my insurance. (If you didn't know glasses were expensive, you've never bought them without insurance before...) In the morning my boyfriend convinced me to go see the doctor, to ask if they could do anything. I knew it was a pointless task, but I decided to go anyways. MAYBE, just MAYBE they could fix the hinge or something for me. I walk in and the kind receptionist was already sympathetic to my glasses being destroyed. But she did something I've NEVER SEEN BEFORE IN MY 20+ years of wearing glasses... She looked up my account, saw the frames and lenses were new and simply popped the lenses out, went to grab the same frames from the back, popped them back in and gave me my glasses back, with brand new frames!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It took not even 5 minutes for me to go from utter despair to complete and ridiculous happiness! She kindly explained that they offer this as a service to their patients, that they can't do it for all frames, but when they can, they understand that accidents happen!! For a fact, they lose money doing this! These brand name frames don't simply offer replacements cause i'm too stupid to not step on my glasses late at night. They only offer replacements for factory defects, which are impossible to prove. For them to go out of their way to offer this service meant the world to me! Of course this doesn't mean you can get glasses, break them in a week and get a replacement each time. I'm sure it's special circumstances and depends entirely on their stock and the cost of the frame. But this kind of service is going above and beyond! Dr Shah and his staff are all great! The day after my birthday my eye became extremely red and irritated, and I had no idea what the issue was. I yelped local drs and Dr Shah was the first to come up. When I called, Susan was really nice and helpful in checking to make sure my insurance would cover the visit, which it did and I was able to make an appointment that same day. Two weeks later- my eye is healed and I will be taking better care of my eye going forward. I am extremely grateful for Dr Shah as his took care of me and my eyes! The last time I had my eyes checked and ordered glasses it was through Costco, and while it was cheaper I also felt like I was just a number in the queue and my glasses broke within a few years. I still like Costco's pricing better, but having Dr. Shah really spend time with me was a completely different experience. My wife first recommended this place when we were still dating. She has been going to this place since she was a kid. Our entire family has been going here for over a decade. Dr. Frohn was our original optometrist and was quite a pleasure to deal with. He is like Mister Rogers. Dr. Shah joined him and eventually took over after Dr. Frohn retired. Dr. Shah is great as well. They are very knowledgeable and professional with their medical expertise. Maggie is one of our favorites as she's always been sincere and caring. Our last few visits did leave a bad feeling with me. We were being overcharged for the cost of frames and maybe even additional feature costs on lenses. I looked up pricing online from reputable merchants and even with insurance coverage on lenses of at least $150 per frames we would still have to pay a hefty amount for overages. Now I understand as some of the frame choices are more on the high-end. However, if places online from amazon, Macy's, and even Sunglass Hut offers the same exact frames for far less then this is definitely not right. I understand that they are not in the business to compete against these big corporations but somehow I don't think their overhead is so huge that they have to take their customers for hundreds of dollars. Also when asking about cost of frames prior to paying out you are given the price then they start fumbling around about costs when you ask how come it's still the same price when you haven't deducted the insurance coverage yet then all of a sudden they decide that oh that is with the deductions already. I also asked them at a different day to itemize their price list of the frames we chose prior to any deductions and said that this would take a while. I expected this since they would have to make the math make sense. What's odd is that they are able to give you a price during order time but have to work it all out when questioned for discrepancy. Look, if you are coming here because they are nice and knowledgeable then by all means, please keep doing so. I just wanted people to be aware that you should ask for pricing of frames and lenses prior to the cost deductions of your benefits coverage so you can keep people honest. Please try to have them show you something tangible in reference to their prices instead of them just coming up with numbers from thin air. After all honesty and good ethics are still a big part of running a business and having exemplary customer service. We would have easily gone elsewhere but due to the pandemic it makes it very hard with kids to go to multiple spots. This will probably be our last visit. I brought a Groupon deal with the goal of getting an eye exam and perhaps a pair or two of glasses. I achieved my first objective and opted out of the glasses for reasons I will state at the end. I want to share with you two particular things about my visit, the exam experience and my opinion on the eyewear valuation with a focus on the frames. My optometrist was Dr. Shah. Him and his staff were efficient, considerate and accommodating. I called in before noon to make a same day appointment. They didn't have any opening but were willingly to work and squeezed me in. Despite the abrupt nature of the appointment, Dr. Shah and staff took their time to address my questions and concerns about my eye, vision and short term advice to maintain my vision and his long-term opinion about possible optic solutions. The 5 stars rating was earned during the eye portion of the visit. In my mind the visit at the end felt like a 4 star, 4.5 star visit because I felt the valuation of the eyewear frames did not provide good value. The $99 dollar frames were plastic, devoid of spring hinges, style, etc. And the frames I found suitable started @ $200 and up. The poly carbonate lens I wanted went for $149, add $95 for transition lens. My ideal set up ran $200 frame and $244 for the lens for a grand total of $444 then minus $150 Groupon voucher results in a final price of $294. I have a pair of PerryEllis with poly carb/transition lens from Costco for $200 and Costco will again be my choice for my glasses. read more

Well needless to say i bought the GROUPON deal and called to make my appointment for the following Tuesday. I loved this place. I just picked up my 2 glasses yesterday and gotta say, I love the way I see through them and for the first time in a couple of years, I haven't had headaches with them.
