Is really convenient to have a tavern near home our bartender was really friendly and helpful great place to try craft beer without the childish environment from the taverns in Milwaukee downtown

This is what I should have got at first.

I know that they are relatively new so this review is written with that consideration and the star rating has been adjusted where as an established place would have gotten less stars for today's visit. I try to be honest in my reviews and I try to consider the whole picture and with that being said let's start this review. While checking out Whole foods I noticed the Tosa Tavern so I stopped by and checked out the menu and there were items that would sway me into hanging around and having lunch here so I did. The tavern was spacious and modern looking with a lot of Windows to let the natural light in. There is a nice long bar with about 20 taps along with bottles of beer, wine and cocktails. All the beers and wines are rotated around so it will always have new products coming on line. All the tap beer and whine can be tasted before you decide on one. Opposites the bar is tables and chairs spaciously arranged and pulled double duty as the food court seating for people just eating. The woman working the tavern was doing a great job and I had no service issues. I had the Goose island IPA for $2 and the up in smoke burger with loaded tator tots for $8, $10 for a quality lunch with a nice beer was a surprise find in a nice space. First off they will not make your burger rare and I was told that med would be what they could do but there was not even a whiff of pink left in the beef. 2nd issue was no bacon on my burger, see my pictures so I said this is not what I ordered and the woman looked at the menu and said the kitchen forgot the bacon and five minutes later they brought me a basket of bacon, now my food is no longer hot because I had to wait for the bacon to start eating. The bacon was three crispy quality strips to my surprise with great smokey flavor. 3rd issue is the tomato was razor thin and the red onion was also and very minimal. The bun was a decent sesame fresh one, man they are so close to a decent burger and I'm not saying the destination burger kind but the nice work lunch kind that is not a chain. Just a note I had to take half of my lunch home in a box because my lunch was over and time was up, too bad it was not right the first time and hot. Now for my side of loaded tator tots, they were Fu#%ing amazing. They don't have the conventional texture for tots but more like a twice baked potato with cheese and chives in them. Light and crispy on the outside with a soft mash inside. They have to be house made because I have never had a frozen potato appetizer with this quality. The up in smoke burger was pretty tasty with great fresh cooked bacon and even with the minor issues I would order it again with extra onion and tomato to compensate for the razor thin toppings. This place has potential once they get there legs under them and this could have been more stars. This is a great place for a burger and drinks considering its in a food store and is now my favorite lunch place close to work.

Good value, quality burger and beer! Was not impressed with the broccoli bites but that's OK I'll try the fries next time. Bleu burger (no mushrooms) was great. Great beer selection many just $3.00 - A nice surprise to find a reasonable place so close to the insane Mayfair Collection.

A bar inside a grocery store. LOVE!

You're a loser if you don't like this place... a genuine loser. The bartenders care, the beer is good, the menu boards suck tho

They don't accept reservations, and there is nowhere to stand and wait for a table. You can't even put your name on a wait list and come back because they don't have one. If you leave, you lose your spot in line. It took us three visits before we landed on a night with no line. It is a very small place with only a few tables in the seating area and bar seating. The service was attentive and polite. The cocktails are fantastic and flavorful, including their N/A offerings. The menu is basically just choosing how much cheese and charcuterie you desire. There aren't many choices for variation because the offerings change depending what is curated that week. The prices might be a bit high for what is served, but the quality of every ingredient is superb. The two of us were satiated with the largest board ($40) and an extra order of toasts. Glad to have tried Charles From age, but our curiosity is satisfied.

It's a great environment with a lot of good drink options. I always opt for the Parker rolls which are tasty but again expensive for the amount you get, I typically order the trout (which until coming here I didn't realize was essentially the same as salmon). It's very good and the potato pancake is a nice touch. Over my visits I've also enjoyed trying the short rib gnocchi, butter chicken, and brussels. They also have a small party room which I have attended an event in before which is always a nice touch. It's secluded and of course much quieter than their main dining area which can get pretty loud!

The waitstaff will walk you through how that works your first time. We started with some of the taste & share plates - showing off WI cheese to the out of towners - and then a few people shared some gnocchi and beef tartare while a couple people got burgers. We had maybe 4 bites leftover, and no room for dessert, it was a personal victory. I'm sad I didn't get photos because I love the feel of each unique area that's here. The restaurant is bigger than you think because it's subdivided into smaller rooms. We had a group of 7 for a work event (which meant I kept my phone put away) and were in a cozy little nook in the back by ourselves, I'd never even noticed this little spot. What a fantastic time we had!

It's actually shocking I've only just made it here because Ca'Lucchenzo has been on my to-go list for years. Lucky for me, my girlfriends planned a dinner to catch up and one of them chose this spot. Hot tip: make the reservation. Those go fassst! We went on the Tuesday night and it was full, with repeated table turnover. Delightful atmosphere. Very cozy, with warm tones, dimer lighting, and thoughtfully curated Italian'esque decor. Loved that there is a whole area where you can look onto the from-scratch pasta being made. However, that's over in the dining room and we actually sat on the bar side. There's maybe a dozen seats wrapped around their full-service bar, and then a small high-top tucked behind, where we sat. Our server, Malichai, new allllll of his stuff. When I tell you this menu is so clearly planned with immense detail, and changes pretty much daily, but this man knew every thing there was to know. We found that to be so helpful because as first timers it's hard to know what - and how many dishes - to choose. In the end, we landed on a handful of picks from the antipasti section, which we're all great shareable sizes. And then of course we needed pasta, so selected two of those to share as well. Can I recall what each dish was? No. Can I recall everything being extremely flavorful and enjoyable? Absolutely! From goat cheese and white asparagus, to creamy potato ravioli and the most insane/delicious focaccia of my life... we all noted how great every bite was. Oh and the drinks + dessert selection lived up to the hype too. I had a citrusy gin cocktail, and we finished with some sort of hazelnut chocolate cake. 10/10. Super duper excited to bring my husband here. He appreciates the craft of good food and boy that is what this place is alllll about.

That was fine ( I don't mind being near people) but the chairs were a bit too close and made me feel like I had to shrink myself and hold my arms in. The server was pleasant as well. Soft-spoken, polite man, which fit the overall relaxed but friendly atmosphere. The only thing I noticed was that he spoke in a bit of a rush, but it was a busy night so I'm more lenient. For food, I started off with the goat cheese crostone, which was fantastic. 5/5 warm, soft, fluffy bread with a great goat cheese and Calabrian honey spread that had both a nice complexity of flavors while not being too overpowering despite the sweetness of the honey and the savoryiness of the goat cheese. Everything balanced out wonderfully. Unfortunately, the main pasta dish I ordered, the Herb Maccaronara, was very bland and one dimensional, which was a shame because I was really looking forward to a bright and refreshing flavor considering how the restaurant seemed to pride itself in the localness of its vegetables. Whatever they used, it was blended and pureed with the sauce, and I couldn't really discern anything except for a faint earthiness. Not much pepper. Not much salt. I normally appreciate it when restaurants want to let the ingredients and naturalness speak for itself, yet I found myself regrettably disappointed by the combinations they chose for this dish, as it didn't highlight or elevated their respective elements. The maccaronara pasta itself was fine, a chewier version compared to other types, but would've benefitted from having something more crisp as an accompaniment to pair with the chewy texture. The dish did have peas in it but sadly it must've been softened by the sauce or noddles because it tasted mushy. Overall the main highlight was the sausage which added a brief touch of well-needed savoriness. The final dish I ordered was an affogato that came with chocolate ice cream and a shot of espresso. A nice cool way to end the meal, although I wish I'd the choice for vanilla instead. All this to say that I believe three stars is a fair scoring for my visit. I really would like to visit again, and Ca'Lucchenzo does rotate their menu often so perhaps their next batch will be better than the current one.
