I got to try Dragon Cafe today. For a quick Chinese lunch, it's pretty reasonable. I rate these guys higher than Happy Garden on Bel Marin Keys, mainly based on taste. Unlike Happy Garden, Dragon Cafe didn't do the soy sauce overload, making the food much more palatable. Both establishments have pretty meager interiors, it doesn't seem to dissuade Dragon Cafe's customers. The place was filling up pretty quickly by noon. The Lunch specials are priced at around 7 dollars, and come with a bowl of soup.

Chicken Lo Mein (the chef can make it if you ask!)

I've been coming here for a long time and have yet to post a review, my family loves to come here and the owners are always so friendly and welcoming. Definitely give it a try next time you are in the area to support this local business!

It probably would of been better if it wasn't near 90*F outside. It didn't appear like they have AC, since all the doors were open. This restaurant looks new on the outside, but looks "old-school" on the inside. The only thing missing was.....chopsticks on the table. I ordered: -Tomato Beef Chow Mein, $15.95, serves two. Very good Tomato Beef Chow Mein. Every piece of beef was tender and easy to eat. The chunks of tomato, bell pepper and onion were in small bite sized pieces. Perfect for eating with chopsticks. The sauce was tangy and lightly sweet. What was missing was the "Wok Hei." Aka...."the breath of the Wok," it's the unique smoky aroma that adds a special flavor to stir fry food. - Salt & Pepper Fried Chicken Wings, $17.95, 9 wings. To be clear, these are "flats." Fresh, juicy, and fried crispy good. Seasoned in coarse salt, chili pepper and onion. My waiter/server gave me a small dish of chili oil to enhance the heat level. Overall, a nice first time experience.....4-stars. I would like to return and try their Wor Won Ton Soup. ------------------------------------------- Notes: Some of the menu photos don't match the dish. I'd give a -100 if I could. After being a happy customer here for years, we had an awful experience…read moreyou should know about. On 12/24/25, we couldn't get through their regular phone number quite a few times due to a busy signal. We then placed a Door Dash order at 4:50pm. After the app updating the delivery time several times, the order was suddenly "cancelled by the restaurant." We were really looking forward to our dinner for two hours, so you can imagine our disappointment and scrambling for alternatives on Christmas Eve. We did receive a refund for the exact amount that was charged to the credit card. We had decided to try the restaurant again on 12/31/25. Again, we couldn't get through. So I went in person to place the order to ask why the restaurant cancelled our 12/24/25 order. I've never heard of a confirmed order being cancelled before. They said they "cancel Door Dash orders at 6:30pm. A lot of people were disappointed, too." I said but we had placed our order at 4:50pm. I couldn't understand his reasoning. We decided to never use them again. Despite our terrible inconvenience and decision to never dine here again, we decided to place an order today 12/31/25 at 4:19pm for pick-up in person, so I could ask in person what happened on 12/24/25. They said today's order would take 25-30 minutes. It was ready at 4:37pm. That was redeemable, but we still don't understand what happened on 12/24:25 and don't feel confident that it will never happen again. So I imagine the lesson learned is beware of placing Door Dash orders at this restaurant! See photos for proof of our experience.

My friend said…read morehe has been coming to China Village since he was a kid, so I figured why not give it a try. We phoned in for takeout and it took us a couple of times to order because they were busy at the restaurant and it sounded like their daughter tried to answer the phone for the owners. We ordered the house special crispy noodles, Hong Kong style ($13.75) which is his go to and I opted for the Seafood with Tofu Clay Pot ($18.46).We made some rice at home to pair with the clay pot. The house special crispy noodles were great. The noodles were so crispy, even when there was sauce on it, you still had the crunch. It was topped with broccoli, carrot, zucchini, shrimp, mushrooms, beef, Napa cabbage, onion, and bok choy. There was such a large mix of veggies and protein that I did not know where to start. This dish was worth the value and quality. When I have had this at other establishments, it is pretty much dead on in terms of what was in it. The seafood with tofu clay pot was okay. I think I need to dine in next time because it honestly just felt like I was eating the house special crispy noodle without the noodle. I was also thinking there would be more tofu but there was a ton of squid and scallops. Like what my parents would say, a lot of Chinese dishes revolves around similar sauces, so I was not too surprised that it was very close to the crispy noodle. I think I just wished it had something to make it more special and different. Our takeout came with soy sauce packets that we did not use and 2 fortune cookies. Overall, it was okay. I will give them another try, hopefully next time it's not raining and I'll dine in instead.

There is an abundance of excellent quality Chinese food in San Francisco that finding similar quality Chinese food in Novato makes it hard to satisfy that cuisine craving for me. After calling China Village on San Marin (who say they can't make this particular dish...really?) I tried my luck with China House on Grant. For delivery I ordered it through DoorDash along with their Salt & Pepper Pork Chops. On the app I specifically ordered the Beef Chow Fun where I added instructions to add scrambled eggs to it. How hard is that? When I received my delivered order I opened up my boxes and discovered that they did not follow my simple instructions. Most restaurants would call you directly if there are any questions about your order, but sadly China House did not. If there is an up-charge for an additional ingredient I would've gladly paid for it. I called about my order after getting it and the person who answered said he was unaware of my specific request in the instructions and said I should've called them. Well I guess I should've, but aaargh! The food ... chow fun was just average, noodles were very dry, but beef was tender. The salt & pepper pork chops were average as well, but tender and still crispy when I received it and large portion. Nice hint of the Chinese five spice flavor in the seasoning as well. Lesson learned for next time. And still on the hunt.
