My work ordered from here last week. I was excited to try, seeing all of the glowing reviews…read more Unfortunately, my experience was mediocre. I'm thinking I just picked the wrong things... even though every dish should be at their best. Still, I am definitely interested in giving them another chance. I got the Tom Yum soup: Bowl with veggies, Thai Hot. The flavor was decent but unfortunately, it was not Thai hot. Truth be told, it wasn't even hot... more medium with a bunch of chili flakes that settled at the bottom of the container. My soup was mostly all broth and barely any veggies. I expected a lot more from this especially since I didn't choose a protein. It should've been packed with veggies. I'm a big fan of tom yum, so this was pretty disappointing. The other item I ordered was the fresh basil roll with shrimp & peanut sauce. It was nicely wrapped and a good portion (two big rolls). However, it should've come with two portions of dipping sauce (one barely cut it). I should've asked for both peanut sauce and hoisin sauce. Sadly, the ratios here also felt off... mostly all lettuce and not much of any of the other ingredients. I can't speak on ambiance or service since we got takeout, but I'd love to come in and experience it for myself. Prices seem good but I also feel based on my experience, that it's misleading! A bowl of soup and an appetizer for under $15 (my work lunch limit) is pretty good especially when you compare to other places around town. However, my items were kind of just "fluff." In other words, I paid for a roll of mostly lettuce (cheap) and a bowl of mostly broth (also inexpensive). Despite my harsh critique, I feel it must've been an off day or something. I want to experience what other reviewers experienced, and would love to try again. Maybe I'll get a curry or noodle dish next!

Our server, Lia, was wonderful--super patient, always smiling, and really helpful when it came to recommending dishes. She took the time to explain options, and her suggestions were spot on. Food-wise, everything hit the mark. The pig ears were surprisingly good with great texture and flavor. The Garlic Bone Marrow Noodle Soup was rich and comforting, and the Herbal Spare Ribs had a really nice, well-balanced herbal taste. Consistently good food, a comfortable vibe, and service like this are why Food Terminal continues to be a neighborhood favorite for me.

It was busy inside, but our party of 10 was promptly seated, though we were a little squished into a circular table. I didn't remember this last time, but instead of telling a server what you want, you mark it down on a paper menu and hand it to the server. This time I got the Grandma's BBQ Pork Noodles and the Salted Egg Yolk Shrimp Garlic Noodle. I was really excited to try both since they both sounded so good. Ultimately the Grandma's BBQ Pork Noodle was a little underwhelming - the noodles themselves weren't very flavorful, and the BBQ pork was on the drier side. The pork did have decent flavor, and all the toppings/side items (wontons, fried egg, bok choy) were great, but all in all fell a little short of my hopes. The Salted Egg Yolk Garlic Noodles had better flavor, but I could've used even more garlic and butter. The shrimp definitely carried the salted egg yolk flavor, but the fried batter was a bit soggy/soft in my opinion. I wished it was crisper. Service was a tad slow, but perhaps they're understaffed and/or it was busy that night. I do love the menu concept of positioning it like a magazine catalog - it makes for a fun experience instead of just words on paper

Happy Valley Dim Sum & Cantonese Cuisine in Norcross, GA…read more Happy Valley has been around for about 30 years. This was actually my first time visiting their new location. My family has always been a fan of Happy Valley. Har Gow 9.5/10 Translucent skin with a full shrimp inside. The texture and flavor are very close to what I've had in Guangdong. Hong Kong Style Egg Tart 9/10 Best when they come out fresh. Flaky buttery crust with smooth egg custard and a golden top. Feng Zao (Chicken Feet) 8.5/10 Good color and the skin has the classic wrinkled texture from braising. The flavor is savory with a slight sweetness, though a little lighter than expected. Beef Tripe 8.5/10 Tender with a slight chew and absorbs the sauce well. The radish underneath was really good. Beef Rice Roll 7.5/10 The flavor is good, but the presentation is not very Cantonese style. The rice roll is slightly thick but has a nice rice fragrance. The soy sauce they use is not very authentic. I used to eat rice rolls almost every day for breakfast when I was in school in Guangzhou, so I am very picky about rice rolls. Pork Siumai 8.5/10 Pretty classic dim sum. Clams 7.8/10 The clams themselves are fresh and well cleaned. Do not be afraid to ask them to reheat if it comes out cold. However, the sauce was a bit too heavy for me.

For the price and the area, the food quality just wasn't there, especially compared to other dim sum spots we've tried across the US and Vancouver. Food quality Most of the dim sum we ordered came out cold, and some items seemed like they were reheated (microwave style) to warm them up. That made the outer texture thicker and less pleasant. Even the fried items were disappointing: the outside was soggy, not crisp. I especially had high hopes for fried items like fried taro and fried eggplant, but both were below par. Best item we tried The one standout was the Hong Kong style seafood chow mein with a clear sauce. That dish was genuinely good. Everything else ranged from "okay" to forgettable. Value I don't remember the exact total, but for a similar spend, I strongly feel you could get better dim sum elsewhere. It didn't feel worth the money. Service Service was fine. They were willing to heat items when we asked, which I appreciated, but it also highlighted the bigger issue: dim sum should arrive hot and properly cooked in the first place. Atmosphere The atmosphere was actually nice. It was pretty clean, and on Sunday there were carts, which could have been fun. But because many items were cold and not great, we ended up ordering instead of relying on the carts. Would I return? No. The space is pleasant, but the food and overall execution just don't justify the price.

It was sweet but not overly sweet. The wife enjoyed the steak lo mein and felt like the portions were pretty large. I thought it could've used more steak but that may be just me. Would I come here again? Probably not. It's a decent +15 min drive for me and I think I pass by at least three Chinese American restaurants. I'm not sure they are better or worse.

I was a huge fan of this place when it was strictly Japanese...and was quite bummed when I heard…read morethey changed this restaurant from Japanese to Asian fusion. In any case, I finally decided to check out the place for dinner. Well, right away, I saw that they added more tables. Even with more tables, the restaurant still seemed pretty spacious. I've always loved the spaciousness of this place...but I find the layout a bit awkward. Unless you come with a group of 4, you'll most likely be seated in the open area...where there's just this utter lack of privacy. So yeah, as nice as this place is, there's a certain lack of comfort and coziness? I also noticed that their menu/menus looked quite different. Initially I was handed just this Korean-Chinese menu...and when I asked if they had Bento Boxes, they handed me the Japanese menu, but I didn't see any sushi rolls on the menu (??). I should have asked, but I just let that go. In retrospect, I really regret not asking. But then again, I wonder why they didn't hand out ALL the menus right off the bat? Who knows...Maybe they had a third menu with a list of sushi rolls?? ANYWAY, I ended up ordering their Bulgogi Bento, which turned out to be quite substantial in portion, and well presented. The thing I didn't like was the bland, undercooked Bulgogi, with excessive fat. I've been getting served a lot of Bulgogi like this lately around town..and it has somewhat turned me off to Bulgogi in general. I personally prefer a much better cooked Bulgogi, with less fat. I enjoyed the Japchae, as well as the fried sides, but frankly, all the foods were all lacking in full Korean flavor. Some of the sides in the bento just seemed off...like these lackluster Avocado Sushi Rolls and a generic Salad (??). I felt that for the 32-dollar pricing, the sides should have been much better. This bento also came with Egg Drop Soup...but again, too bland. Guess I should have poured some soy sauce. As usual, the service was really good though. They even added this complimentary post-meal drink...this might have been the best part of my entire meal? I still think this is a really nice restaurant, with a lot to offer. I just didn't like how it got rid of many of its stellar Japanese menu items. Also, unfortunately, I just didn't like what I ordered. Again, the Bulgogi was too mild and too fatty...and all the foods in the Bento tasted a bit too bland. If I was to return, I would definitely not repeat the Bulgogi Bento. If they really don't have any sushi rolls, guess I'd order something Chinese?
