We were on the road back to our Connecticut, the restaurant is located conveniently to I-95. We took sushi, wanton soup, and chicken fried rice - really good food for the good price. The food here is great. The staff on the other hand is terrible. I am a weekly patron. The waitresses are all alone during the day and get NO help from the manager or the bartender except the fill water glasses and seat people. The waitress is running around like a chicken with her head cut off while there's 3 people standing behind the bar doing nothing. I have been a long time patron and this is getting old. These young guys need to step up to the plate. I also remember when David used to come to every table and make sure everything was ok. That has not happened in years! read more

We used to order from this restaurant all the time a few years ago and the food was always good. We recently started ordering again and have been disappointed two out of times. Consistently good food, I especially like their won ton soup and California roll. somewhat typical Chinese food, which can be a good thing. I have not had a bad meal since the place opened, just consistent Rhode Island style Chinese food. I've only ever used Dragon Palace for takeout, and it's delicious! We've ordered everything from sushi to authentic Chinese food to Americanized Chinese food and it's all delicious. The staff is friendly and the orders come up quick as well. My only complaint is that their phone is always busy when I call. Sometimes I have to call 10-15 times before I actually get a ring tone. They must only have one phone line which is very frustrating. Sometimes I'll just give up and call someone else or even switch to pizza! read more

Our favorite Chinese restaurant!! We have a get-together with the entire family and long time friends every year around the holidays. Everyone insists on going to the Dragon Palace every year, as they all love the food and drinks, as well as the great service here. I was optimistic seeing 4 stars on yelp that this would be great food. We ordered chicken finger app (a very generous portion), steamed dumplings, and chicken chow fun. The dumplings were good enough, not the best dumplings or sauce I've had by any means but probably the best of the three items we had. The chicken fingers themselves were just fine; however, the duck sauce is considerably darker than any duck sauce I have had before. It has a different flavor as well- smokier, darker.. Similar to the contrast between a dark molasses vs light. While not bad, it wasn't what we expected for the dish. Finally, the chicken chow fun needs a lot of improvement. It lacked flavor and was greasy. I added soy sauce to give it something more, but bottom line is it lacks sophistication and needs work. I've been to two Dragon Palace's. I am not happy with the one in Richmond. Coventry is good. I have ordered dinners and received the WRONG orders twice in a 6 month period. When I order a dish I'm not familar with and ask them to explain the dish I simply get a name of the dish that I ordered?!?! IE; Shrimp with Lobster Sauce and Ground Pork. Is there a starch? Is there vegetables?? "It's shrimp in a lobster sauce that's juicy with ground pork." ?!?! Really?!?! For the record, I said I would call them back. I didn't. I'm in no mood for this kind of service from a simple asian take out dish! The regular orders I do make are not bad. Not great, but not bad. Portion sizes are pretty good tho. I like the one in Coventry 10X's better. I've found that my questions were respected and answered perfectly. Not to sure what Richmond is trying to accomplish with half-wit responces on the phone! Not happy!!! I chose to order from Dan's Place in West Greenwich and am always happy with there service and food. It's only 1 exit up the road too. read more

My friends and I tried the noodles, fried rice, chicken noodle soup, and their general tsos chicken but left feeling unsatisfied. Service was ok. I would like to start off with saying that the food here is great. The waitresses are really good as well. My problem however is that tonight is the second time I have gone here and found no soap in the woman's bathroom. When I went to the counter to ask for some soap, I was told they were all out. Although I didn't like this response, I didn't want to make a scene and figured someone would go out and get some now that they were aware. I ate my dinner and before I left, I used the bathroom once more and was shocked to see there was still no soap 40 minutes later after they were notified! Now I know if any of the female waitresses or bartenders have used the bathroom, they haven't washed their hands with soap. read more

I have enjoyed the food at the Dragon Palace restaurant, but tonight, New Years Eve, I was extremely disappointed. I called in my $30.00 order at 4:00PM and was given a pick up time of 6:00PM by the person who took my order. I arrived on time, but there was no order. When they asked me if I wanted to pay for the order, I asked how much longer it would be. One of the women asked if I had the correct restaurant. I said I called in to the Dragon Palace on Main St. at 4:00PM. They looked it up by the time, and found I had indeed placed the order. However, they never placed the order, I was not on the schedule, so they were unable to tell me how long it would be, but asked again if I wanted to pay for the order. I told them I did not want to pay for the order and to cancel the order! It should not be too difficult to cancel an order that was never placed. While I realize that a $30.00 order is inconsequential in comparison to other large orders, it was my New Years Eve dinner. Leftovers is not what I was looking forward to. It's a shame that not everyone who places an order gets the same treatment, whether a large order or a smaller order. Therefore, while the food is good, I will never do business there again because of how I was treated when it was clearly the fault of the restaurant. read more

Normally I would rate this restaurant a lot higher as I've been going there for years. We always received excellent service and even had a favorite waitress that we made sure to time our nights out on according to her schedule. But, when my fiancé and I went in this past Wednesday and asked for Jess specifically we were informed that she is no longer there. MAJOR FROWNY FACE!!!! While the food was the same- above average in comparison to the other local Chinese restaurants, we just did not receive that special touch we are so accustomed to having Jess as our server. I guess we were spoiled! She always made sure our daughter's Shirley temple decorated with an umbrella and extra cherries was ready- our potted tea was at the table before we could even sit down! My fiancé loves the chips with the chili sauce and she always made sure it was waiting for him before he even asked, regardless of how busy she was. We certainly appreciated her attention to detail and she will surely be missed by our family! I'm not sure how Dragon Palace could have let her walk away! If anyone knows where she is now, please let us know! We'd love to find her and surprise her! read more

This is the place to go for cheap, but not gross-cheap sushi. Everything else is priced well, too. Nice design inside, looks pretty clean. While it's not AMAZING, and we had a bit of an issue there near New Year's, which is to be expected, I guess, it's worth going to for decent Chinese. I was pleasantly surprised by this place, because I was expecting to get some take-out to eat back at their place. I went for my usual, the chicken wings and fried rice, but the biggest surprise for me was their wonton soup, which tasted delicious. I had never tried wonton soup before, so I agreed to try some. I have been there several times, and although the food is good the service leaves much to be desired. Tonight was the ultimate when I made a telephone order and upon retrieving my order noticed there was a discrepancy between what I ordered and what I was given. I explained that I had ordered general's chicken. I was given crispy pork chops. They told me to wait for 5-10 minutes and they would correct my order. I waited and they said they corrected it, the same bag that went into the kitchen came back out and they handed it to me. Upon arriving home I was stunned to find that they hadn't even corrected the order. I was given the same bag that was sent back into the kitchen with the crispy pork chops in it. No general's chicken. Essentially I waited 10 minutes at the door for no reason and brought home a bag of cold food. This was a mistake that they never intended on correcting and I will not be returning. read more

We have been big fans of Dragon Palace since they came to town, but the last few visits have been increasingly awful. The food is always good, however the service not so much. Being a former waitress, I am very patient and understand that the lunch rush can be hectic. We have incidentally went on Sundays and each time, it is packed yet there is only one (very stressed out) waitress working. We had to ask for our drinks after 10 minutes, our soups came 30 minutes later (again, had to ask!) and the food came out after about 45 minutes. The bartender ended up taking over for the waitress and we never saw her come by our table again. If the kitchen is backed up, tell us. Bring us the soup (which is already cooked!). But don't just abandon us and leave us to wonder what is going on. Horrible service leaves us feeling as though we might not go back. Such a shame since the food is the best Chinese around. read more
