We have used Drain Doctors Plumbing several times on for our older home in SLO. and they have always met and exceeded expectations. Anyone who lives in an older home with the associated older plumbing systems knows that some technicians come out and are overwhelmed by the age itself. But are we supposed to have the entire system replaced for minor problems? This time we called because one of our toilets was being "temperamental" . I called Drain Doctors about my shower that was dripping when turned off. I thought about watching some Youtube videos and trying to save some money by doing the repair myself... but as I watched the guy from Drain Doctors work on the problem, I was glad I called an expert. He had specialty tools and the exact replacement part I needed. Total cost was $220, which was $195 base rate plus $25 for the replacement part. It doesn't get more honest than that. The day before our out-of-country family arrives, our toilet started overflowing. We checked and ended up changing the fill valve ourselves (with the wrong valve), then realized the metal supply hose was totally sheared. The hose and the supply valve were ancient, and I was panicking - by this point family is arriving in a few hours and I call the wonderful crew at Drain Doctors. The woman who answered (I wish I remembered her name!!) was SO kind, and incredibly helpful. Even though the team was booked up she put us on the list, and Ray was able to squeeze us in literally less than an hour later. He made such quick work of the job, was so polite and respectful, and was kind enough to point out things he did and explain the changes he made so I'd know for later. As a female, it's not always easy finding a repair company that doesn't make you feel silly for asking questions/ that you feel comfortable with having in your home. I've learned over the years not to judge a business by whether they occasionally make mistakes or not. Every business (and every person) occasionally goofs. I judge a business by how they make things right when they error. I had some issues with the work that Drain Doctors did repairing my water supply line. The next day I called Drain Doctors and explained why I wasn't satisfied. Office manager Alicia was obviously concerned. She handled my frustration with such professionalism and compassion that I felt better already. Within an hour, the owner of Drain Doctors was at my door. He took a look and immediately agreed that the work wasn't up to par. He suggested that he should redo the job from the beginning. I agreed. He did that redo with the expert workmanship that I expected. He was professional, appropriately sorry for my original dissatisfaction, and completed the job to my total and complete satisfaction. I so highly recommend the Drain Doctors today is the second time they came through for us. First time they came on the( holiday )and fixed our main water. Main break only charged us $300. They could've charge us 1000 and we would've said OK. on 11/9/23 they replaced an in-line stop valve for my stove works great, but I couldn't get the pilot light lit or the valve turned off long story. I called the 24 hour service and (BEN) the service man. What a phenomenal super guy He tried patiently over the phone to explain how to do this. I just couldn't get it for some reason!! He drove all the way from (paso) at 8 o'clock P.M. Lit the pilot light. And showed me how easy it was to turn the valve off to the stobe! I felt so bad, because it was such an easy fix! So please, if you need help with your plumbing and heating Drain Doctors on the way to go!!! read more

Not only were they the only 24/7 plumbers who actually responded on a Sunday night, they fixed the problem with our sewer and then told us to call the city to get reimbursed because the issue was in the city sewer line. After a few bumps (Horrible experiences 2 Plumbers & 1 Contractor) I came across Drain Doctors. The reviews on YELP were spot on, I can say after having my 1st visit. I am SO glad I went with them. Unfortunately, I guess the bad one's lead me to the good one. Very costly mistake, indeed. As a single female and home owner I have found finding quality, Honest, Humble, Experienced Tradesmen quite challenging. Beware there ARE a lot of licensed con artists out there. Men who destroy your home from within and take your money in the process. Always research! That's where Drain Doctor's come in to play. I looked into their history a bit. There wasn't anything unpleasant that I found. All great comments left from the local folk. Plus! So I called. An appointment was set a couple days away. Gary showed on the day of appointment. Clean cut, very polite. He 'listened'. I'm sorry, but I've found that not all men will listen. He walked with me through the house I explained the issue. It started out as water from an upstairs restroom caused water to come out a light socket downstairs, in my garage. No where near a water source. I called 2 wreckless plumbers (1@atime, of course) and wound up with a much larger mess, with more to fix than when I started. Stay away from Power & J errys ! Your wallet & sanity will thank you. The latter came out 3 times and still didn't resolve the issue. But he got paid! The man whom came out I found out had a horrible anger issue. I felt intimidated in my own home. This prolonged me getting my plumbing issue fixed sooner. I was a bit freaked out after. Well, to shorten a long drawn out story.. I found out just how bad my plumbing issue was one night this last week. An emergency hit in the wee early morning hours and I used the toilet upstairs. The one that caused water out the light socket. And well, 'it' came up into the shower drain across from the toilet, after 1st flushing. NOooooo! I did due diligence, I turned to Youtube. Cause you know, You can learn a lot there.. most times. But nothing I tried made a difference. No to liquid soap, baking soda, nor vinegar.. nor did plunging. When Gary showed for the appointment and after I told him all that happened and ... what I did. I asked him his recourse. I agreed and got out of his way. I watched to try to understand what was wrong with my plumbing.. OH MY GOSH! The turd, who got paid 3 times 'said' he snaked my toilet, no less than twice. Yet the noise that snaking it makes, I never heard upstairs nor downstairs. And you DO HEAR it! Especially with your downstairs ceiling cut open. Now I KNOW I was conned by the other company. Not once, twice, but three times!! Gary ran the snake, and said the drain was clear, but he was going to run it just a little bit further. I sat in AWE! It's amazing how truly ignorant I can be when I don't understand a trade. I am guilty of that, with the other plumbers. And in my opinion, they don't deserve to remain in business. I KNOW for a fact, they HAVE screwed other people. Including someone I KNOW well, and he KNOWS the owner of the 1st listed. No names, cause I value his privacy and I'm not here to put his business out there. I have NOW found an HONEST, RELIABLE, HUMBLE, HARD WORKING GENTLEMAN FROM A REAL COMPANY TO CALL!! I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND ;;; DRAIN DOCTORS !!! You won't go wrong! In fact. The 'guesst'mite' that I was given, though it was for 2 separate tasks and only the drains upstairs were dealt with, was higher than what I was charged. And the guess was even lower than I was concerned it would cost me to rectify this bad situation. I feel SO BLESSED, to have met Maria (on the phone) she was delightful. Very bubbly, friendly, and extremely informative. Gary, who had the dirty job. He in my eyes was over the top! I have more projects, and will be contacting THIS company! You know, whether your need is big or small I can't say enough about how important it is to 1st thoroughly research who you are allowing into your home!! Believe me when I say that it's not just unlicensed contractors anymore who steal your money and leave you desolate and in a deeper need for repairs.. It's also Licensed one's!! I have a list of one's to avoid here in Central Coast, unfortunately I met more than my quota.. But God works all things out for our good. Drain Doctors came out and performed a sewer lateral inspection using a camera. Upon removing the camera inspection hose, the back-flow prevention flapper broke. This wasn't obvious at the time nor by looking at the film but the problem showed up a few days later when the downstairs toilet started to gurgle. I called Drain Doctors to report the gurgling and they sent someone out right away. They took responsibility without any discussion and replaced the damage part at no cost to me. This review is for the receptionist named Michelle. I was a returning customer who have a plumbing problem. They fixed my plumbing issue satisfactorily the first time and that is why I chose to call them again. I called them first thing in the morning and the receptionist on the phone had an attitude to her tone which I chose to ignore and focused on giving her the information in order to help expedite a service call. After the call ended, but before it was hung up, I heard her talking to another person in the background and she was imitating what I said with an exaggerated tone. Obviously, she did not realize that she hadn't hung up the phone. This was disappointing, off-putting, unprofessional and totally uncalled for. Because of her lack of professionalism, she had turned me away. No time for such triviality when there are lots of good companies out there with kind and honest service. I hope that the owner takes note. The one-star is for her calling me back to put me on their schedule, at which time I had already moved on. I am providing an update here. Soon as the receptionist read my review this morning, she called me back to apologize. I give her credit for doing that. They come quickly (I've had emergencies during non-business hours) and know what they are doing. They are sophisticated and professional. Our toilet backed up, on cue, as it does on nearly an annual basis. We have learned over the years that our pipes are not high quality. We called Drain Doctors this time, based on a neighbor's recommendation. Unfortunately, they were not equipped for the job. What is normally a one hour drain near the sewer line -- with the right equipment --turned into a nearly 6 hour operation that included toilet removal and countless noise and interruptions as I tried to conduct business meetings from home. With each interruption was an additional charge. I will not call upon them again. read more
