BE VERY CAREFUL with this company, RUN away. They were hired by our home warranty company to come look at our running bathtub faucet. The bath was working PERFECTLY and the issue was just the running water that would drip. They came and removed the KNOB and now we can not even bathe our 6 month old. We called them and said Why did you remove the knob please bring it and screw it back in they said sorry you we can't and blocked me. I will make sure they do not hurt innocent victims again. They arrived promptly, immediately located the cleanout--right behind the wall outside, exactly where Drain Guard claimed to have checked--and resolved the entire issue within 30 minutes using a standard snaking procedure. The contrast in professionalism and competence was night and day. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Sent by my home warranty and it was a waste of time. The technician showed up with an attitude, was dismissive, and did absolutely nothing to help with the issue. Drain Guard claimed the only way to resolve it is to install a new cleanout. Like many others, we were referred through FAHW. The good; they arrived quickly and prioritized our repair since we had an active leak. They told us exactly what needed to happen and handled the paperwork with first American within the same day. They also referred us to a mold company to ensure the leak hadn't caused any additional damage. The bad; Art insisted we needed $1000 worth of code upgrades in addition to the work that was covered. When we asked for clarification on what exactly those upgrades were and he just literally refused to explain it to us outside of a very generic text We ended up taking the payout and replacing our system with a new tankless using another company. I am sure they do fine work outside of first American claims, but that was not our experience. read more

1) Missed an appointment. 2) Denied our claim through FAHW, contradicting their own inspection. I've worked with FAHW for over a decade on a dozen properties. These contractors were extremely inexperienced (not to mention rude), told me there was something wrong with the turbine or the water flow sensor and that one or both needed to be replaced, that they would request authorization to replace the unit, then told First American something completely different so as to deny my claim in its entirety. I will be submitting a complaint to both the department of insurance and the contractor's board based on the evidence. read more

I was assigned this contractor to unclog a toilet. Although the gentleman was nice he did not solve the problem stating that he could not remove the toilet to do the work. Nowhere in my contract, it states that. After the issue was closed as unresolved I ended up fixing it myself because they asked to charge us outside of my home warranty. This company is totally terrible. The were assigned by First American Home Warranty to fix a leaky faucet. When they came out they tried to open/remove the existing faucet. They could not, even though after I called the manufacturer they told me how to do it which I was able to do (remove the old faucet so a part could be replaced). Drain Guard told my warranty company that the whole faucet had to be replaced. I agreed to it. For over 30 days the warranty company told Drain Guard to come out to do the replacement. They never came. Finally First American replaced them with another plumber. DO NOT USE DRAIN GUARD. read more

I called my home Home Warranty for my main sewer line, and they said drain guard plumbing is the assigned to come out and unclog the mainline, when he showed up, he parked in my driveway even there is a space in the front of my house on the street. There was unprofessional then he used small snake machine for the main sewer line which did not work he kept trying in and out and out because he was too lazy to carry the big machine with the better tip on the end to cut whatever is causing the stoppage of the line so then he said you have roots in your line which may be true. He also said you need hydrojet type of machine to clear out. The line,and is gonna cost you $1100. I refused to pay and he took off without unclogging my sewer line very unprofessional nasty. read more

If you are a FAHW customer and are assigned this company, immediately request another company. Like all other home warranty plans, FAHW offers a cash payout in lieu of repair. For plumbing fixture replacements, that means either having the cheapest fixture installed or a cash payout that usually covers a small portion of your cost in the event you want to have your own nicer fixture installed. In 2022, we received a cash payout of $270 for a kitchen sink that had to be replaced. We spent $1100 on the new fixture and $300 to install it. Recently, we had a bathroom faucet blow out and FAHW offered a $50 payout in lieu of a replacement! When queried, the FAHW rep indicated that the payout amount was based on their agreement with the technician. And the customer is assigned the technician randomly, which is a totally absurd policy. So if you draw these guys, pick up the phone and call FAHW to have them reassign. In addition to their lousy payout agreement, the technician from this company originally tried to tell us that we had broken the faucet due to misuse and was going to tell FAHW to cover it. After spending entirely too much time pleading with the guy, he agreed to tell FAHW to offer a payout. We still don't know if the fixture could have been repaired.
