Called them on a recommendation. Carter arrived and I gave him a detailed assessment of our drainage issues and offered to show him pictures of the extensive flooding. The job is large and would involve building retaining walls and replacing sod that would be dug up running drainage lines for lawn drains. You would have thought by the look in his eyes that I was asking him to build the space shuttle! One would think that by calling a company called Drainage First they would know about installing lawn drainage. One would be WRONG! I wish I could have given feedback based on receiving their service, but they showed their unprofessionalism upfront. I called inquiring about an estimate on some drainage issues I was having. I received a text with an appointment date and was told that the owner would be coming. The day before my appointment I sent a text to the company contact asking if the appointment would need to be rescheduled due to anticipated rain and thunder storms the next day. I was told that the owner confirmed that the appointment would still be on. (P.S. this is how they communicate with you. Should have been a warning for me.) The next day, I rescheduled my entire work day around this appointment. The appointment time came and went and not even a text telling me that that they were going to be late or not showing up. Finally at 6 pm, I texted and asked if there was a problem and asked if they would reschedule. I then was given some excuse about forgetting to reschedule with me. After another full week of flooding in my basement due to drainage issues, I call the company again to see if I could reschedule. They text me (again, no actual time speaking to a person) to say that their next earliest appointment would be March 6...almost a month later! So you are telling me that a potential client who you flaked on is asking to reschedule and you won't even try to fit them in any sooner than a month? Ok, you have now lost a customer who was a definite sale. Do yourself a favor and don't even call these people. All you will get is no work, a flooded basement, and a string of texts from someone from the company. read more

Paid $1900 to the company to fix and install a drain system, total waste of money. My home still floods when a heavy rain comes, that they want to blame on my gutters. I took pictures when we had the last hard rain to flood our home once again. I've contacted several other contractors, and they're all saying the initial pipe that was installed isn't low enough. Yes the company did come back out, he put a bigger dome and some rocks where the grates once were. Sadly after paying $1900 now we will have to pay another contractor to come do the work the proper way. I contacted the Better Business Bureau, because $1900 is a lot of money to pay for my home to still leak when it rains heavy......... read more

Wanted to come back and acknowledge my positive experience with John & Drainage First. I had an old French/Finger drain fail last year on my outside Basement wall. I called John back in Oct 2019 and he came out, assessed the issue, gave me some options and fair price quotes, and performed the work within a few days once we made our decision. The real proof of the quality of the work has been demonstrated this past Jan/Feb 2020. We've had over 12" of rain this month with some very heavy, driving rains. Thru all of this, my basement has remained completely dry. I'm 100% satisfied with my choice in selecting Drainage First and wouldn't hesitate to use them in the future as well as recommend them to friends & family. John Brodbeck, the owner, came out to provide a second opinion consultation on a Drainage issue we were having in the back corner of our yard. The initial contractor we met with recommended a French drain system that would cost upwards of $2K to install. John was professional, forthright, and honest as he talked himself out of a job. He explained why such a drain would likely not work, and provided several simpler solutions that would likely suffice, despite the fact that they were not within the scope of what his company could or would do. I appreciated his being honest and candid and not simply "selling" me on an expensive fix for a simpler problem. His recommendations seemed sensible and sensitive to concerns about my neighbors, as well, which I really respected. I would personally call John first if/when I do have a Drainage issue in the future, as he seemed trustworthy, responsive, and professional all around. read more

As other reviewers have experienced they just don't show up for the appointment . I had called them 2-3 weeks ago and was given an appt for 3/14 . I should mention that was after making several phone calls to this company . On 3/14 Took time off from work and waited for someone to call or show up . Finally called the office and was told by the person who answers calls that she had tried calling me for a few days to confirm the appt but I had not answered . She also mentioned sending me email . I never received any emails from this company and as far as phone calls , what company doesn't leave message when person they are trying to reach and get their business does not answer the phone ? Then she mentions it would be end of April ( another month and half later ) before they can reschedule me . I honestly don't understand what their thinking is but based on other reviews it seems this is how they operate . read more

After 3 unanswered phone calls where I left messages, I contacted their on-line Chat room. I never received a call or email back. I contacted their Chat room again and left another message. Same response. I then called the phone number listed on their web site and I reached someone who said they had the wrong phone number. Hmmmm. I set an appointment up with her to have John come out for 11:00am 2 days later. No show. I left him a message and after waiting 30 minutes I left him a text with some negative comments about his service and then left for my next appointment at 11:45. John called me within a few minutes of my text and said he was at the home and asked what I wanted. I told him, first, the appointment was for 11:00 and he stated it was 11:30. My response was I had another appointment at 11:45 and would never had set it for 11:30. So, he asked what he could do. Since the work needed was on the outside of the house, I gave him my needs and he said he'd do and send me a report that evening. I never received it! I will never call or recommend them again. We had a drainage problem affecting the "garage" apartment behind our home in Atlanta. After another firm had attempted an incomplete solution, John Brodbeck came out and explained the approach that should work--primarily, installation of a drain around part of the perimeter of the structure. After the first drain was put in, we continued to have some problems. John and his associate came back out and, for no additional fee, extended the drain around a second portion of the unit. So far, no further problems! He has been very responsive and knowledgeable--highly recommended. read more
