Came here on a Sunday after Lips for a few drinks with the girls. It was pretty empty but then again, it was 2pm on a Sunday. Really like the rustic vibe of the place. They have a long list of beers at your standard NY price. If I could give zero stars I would. While drinking at this bar a ROACH crawled across the bar and went onto a MAN. The manager, this old angry woman, was beyond rude. This place is disgusting and management is even worse. Updating my review... the manager also accused us of trying to get free drinks. No boo we just sat next to a man who had a roach crawl him and didn't want to sit at your nasty bar. Planned a birthday party for 3 guys here.. Long story short was told when booking the party we would get the atrium area which included our own bar and tables and seats. In addition, I was told someone would call me the week prior to confirm all details, however no one did so I took the initiative to check in myself- all seemed good but then the day of the event we find ourselves with only our own bar area no seats or tables and ran into some other people trickling into our "private area"...the manager at first was trying to tell me that they do give private parties both seating and the bar if under X amount of people, but whoever I spoke to on the phone weeks prior had promised that. Said manager did try to help the situation by getting us a table and making sure others did not trickle into our area. We had almost 40 people and it got very tight with space. Shout out to the bartenders for taking care of us all night and always with a smile and also shooing people out of our bar space who didn't belong there! They have some great happy hour options and plenty of craft beers and wines and a decent selection for food. All in all, I probably won't be hosting any private event parties here. However if you're in the area be sure to check this bar out for their large selection of beers! This place is a good place to hangout with just a small group of friends. read more

We found this place walking from our hotel off Lexington and 50th. We walked in and were greeted by Danny. He made us feel comfortable and took great care of us! We wish we found this place the night before! They have a great selection and amazing customer service! I was here with a group of 10 for lunch. We all did the $10 lunch special (meal and beer). Everyone's meals were brought to the table before mine. I was patient for a good 5-10 minutes, assuming mine was coming. I finally flagged someone down. They said oh yeah it'll come out. By the time it came out, everyone else was done. Awkward. The manager (at least I think that's who she was?) came over and said here's my lunch. I don't think she apologized. I pointed out that everyone has finished and this is not an acceptable lunch. I asked what she would do about this and she said 'what do you want me to do?' I said I wanted a free meal. She wouldn't do it. So she gave me a beer. Very cheap. We were a big table with a lot of people and money, the least they could have done was comped me, so I didn't feel like a total idiot sitting there eating lunch by myself. Not going back. read more

A few days ago I went to Draught 55 for a limited release beer event. The brewer was having a 'roll-out' spread over a few days & at different places around town. I missed my chance at my usual watering hole, so when I saw that Draught 55 was part of the promotion & I would be nearby, at the right time, I decided to take a chance (& chancy is what it turned out to be.) We were a bit early & told the beer in question was being held back until the appointed hour, which is not unusual for such events. We made alternative selections from their printed menu & settled in as the place filled up with fellow pilgrims. At the appointed hour, I stepped up to the bar & retrieved our servings & had them put on our running tab. So far everything was fine. The ambiance was comfortable enough & they seemed to be dealing with the crowd professionally. The beer in question is pretty strong in both flavor & alcohol so we took our time to finish. When I received the bill, I thought it was a bit excessive & on further examination I saw the special beer was priced higher than it listed on the printed menu. When I brought this to the bartender's attention I was shocked at the response. "You know this is a very special release & other places are charging even more" were the first words out of his mouth as he took back the check & went to make the change. I was appalled. I wasn't questioning the price per se, I was questioning the practice of charging more than a price posted on a menu. Who does that? The 'explanation' was as stupid as it was irrelevant. How many other 'guests' had been ripped off by the petty bait & switch? In this day & age of computerized accounting, someone other than the bartender had set up the price & the fact that he didn't even feign surprise was pretty damning. It's been a long time since anyone has tried to take me for a rube & one would like to think it would be done for a bigger price, but I guess it just goes to show how looks can be deceiving. For the record, the first event I attended was selling the same measure for 10% less than the listed price & 20% less for the attempted price, but that's not what my 'observation' is about. read more

This addition to the craft beer scene in NYC in the former Blackstone space does what it needs to do well. Plenty of good beers on tap, friendly bar tenders, decent bar food, and reasonable by new york standards prices. Still has large outdoor area/ room in the back. Happy hour is limited but loved the Irish Coffee. If looking for a place in this neighborhood to get a decent drink and be able to talk to person you are with than this is your place. read more

I used to love this place. They had a huge selection of beers and a burger with raclette cheese. A few months ago we came back, and even though the menu said so, they didn't have raclette cheese anymore. It was OK, but the manager promised they would have it soon. We just came back. The burger is below average and no more mention of raclette cheese. Most importantly, we ordered beers for a couple hours. They went out at some point, so we asked for a similar kind of beer, they were out too. We went to the bar to discuss what other beer could fit our taste for the next round, we were welcomed by an extremely impolite bartender who asked us why we were breaking his balls. The level of respect and customer service has came to a very low point. And the bar was almost empty at this point. Very very disappointed and will not come back, although it used to be a favorite. read more

I came here for the first time with two friends during happy hour. The service was fine and the beers we ordered from the happy hour were pretty good but the food was just awful. We ordered the fried chicken sliders, buffalo wings, and the soft pretzel. The buns for the fried chicken were very dense and dry and the wings lacked both sauce and seasoning. And the soft pretzel was extremely stale. The bar itself is nice for a date night or drinks with friends but I would not order the food again. read more

The staff was very helpful in setting up our party in advance, reserving us a portion of the lovely back atrium. We had plenty of space, including prime bar real estate. a bar with an arrogant bouncer is no different from a bar with inattentive wait staff. i've been to draught 55 3 times and like the fact that i could crawl here and home in a matter of minutes. the last time i was here, i noticed that they removed the couches from the back room, removed the pastrami sandwich from the menu (which was good and a unique bar menu item), and reinvented the menu to include gastropub-type descriptions and up-priced their items. we ordered a side of fries for $6 (which came in a small fry basket) and a side of beer battered mozzarella sticks for $9 (which came 6 to an order and were thinner than polly-o string cheese). it's never a good sign when the wait staff delivers the food and patrons are left wondering where the rest of the food is. to explain my opening sentence, the bouncer didn't say a single word when we first arrived and during the ID checking process. it's a shame because draught 55 could be my neighborhood hang out. instead, i'll walk a few blocks down to stag's head where we ended up later the same night and ordered a side of fries that was 4 times larger and cheaper than what we got here. read more

I must say I'm very impressed with this bar. I hosted my 25th birthday here on Friday 10:30pm and I couldn't have asked for more. A few weeks ago, I went here just to have a beer with a coworker and asked the manager if I could host about 20 people here. She was more than happy to help and booked it easily for me. The bar called last week to confirm the rezzy and it was a go! On Friday I was in the gorgeous back atrium with a portion of the bar sectioned off for my party and a considerable space partitioned by a velvet rope. If other patrons went to my section of the bar, the bartender kindly asked them if they were part of my party and that they couldn't serve them. My party grew to about 30+ people and the super great hostesses walked them to my area when they arrived at the door. I never felt cramped or rushed and it was a great way to start the night. I'm so happy I chose to have my party here and I'm worried that me writing this post will make it difficult in the future to have another party, but I really must say - what a quality place. This was a surprisingly amazing choice for Valentines Day drinks and appetizers. Head straight to the back bar. The lighting is super cute and creates a great mood. Let the beer nerds (ie waitresses) guide you through the draft selection. I highly recommend trying a few in a flight. Food was tasty as well. This place wasn't terrible but my husband and I did not enjoy eating here at all. The noise was so loud, it really wasn't possible to converse even at our small table. I also ordered a ginger beer but am so used to getting a non-alcoholic one that I didn't realize I should specify. Our server brought an actual beer, which makes sense, I just didn't expect it.
