If you took a chic, weathered crab shack from the Outer Banks, dragged it through a portal into Lower Manhattan, and compressed it until it was roughly the width of a subway car, you'd end up here. It's a masterclass in spatial denial. The walls are painted a crisp, beach-house white, clearly designed to trick your brain into thinking you're looking at a vast, breezy ocean horizon. But don't be fooled: you are in an architectural hallway, and you are currently sharing a breathing radius with sixty-five strangers and every single square inch of those white walls is working overtime, completely covered in a maximalist collage of framed photos, and random knick-knacks. Finding an open seat in here is a competitive sport. There are maybe twelve stools at the bar, and they are occupied by people who clearly arrived much earlier and plan to be buried there. The rest of the crowd is locked in a polite, permanent game of human Tetris. The Old Fashioned is... fine. It's exactly what you'd get if you Googled a picture of one. It's got the big ice cube, the orange peel that's been twisted with moderate enthusiasm. It's got that classic bourbon bite, but it doesn't tell a story. Then there's the burger. It arrives on a white plate, looking exactly like most other burgers you've ever eaten in a tavern between 14th Street and the Battery. It's a burger with no ego. There are a lot of Irish pubs around here, and we were told the best pint of Guinness was here. Unfortunately I don't think Blasket will take the crown. However, it is still a good pour, the proper way and the foam top. The pub vibes are great, and run with care. I also ordered an Irish coffee, but it wasn't to my taste. I think the locals enjoy this place, whether it's grabbing a drink or getting their food options, but I don't think I'll be back. read more

You can also reserve the floor above for anything. You see a sign out up that they are hosting something from XYZ company. Not often though. Service is a bit slow (Sunday afternoon) and I probably should've gotten a beer over an aperol spritz (got watery fast), but I did enjoy my Blasket burger, which was cooked as requested, and fries. I tried one sweet chili wing and it wasn't bad, but I think I would've preferred buffalo sauce in this case, as I wasn't the biggest fan of the sauce. We arrived to watch an NFL game and began with draft beers, though they have great cocktails and non alcoholic options. For appetizers we started with the potato and leek soup which is served in a very generous portion along with Irish soda bread and Kerry gold butter. The soup is phenomenal, made fresh in house. We then tried their gin & tonic, made with Elderflower tonic and Irish gin. Highly recommend! For entrees we ordered the grilled chicken Caesar salad which is 10/10; fresh romaine, perfectly dressed, and thin and juicy well-seasoned chicken breast. I ordered the fish & chips which comes with a generous portion of chips, Cole slaw, tartar sauce, ketchup, and lightly battered and tender white fish that has a great flavor. Lastly we ordered the Shepherd's Pie which comes with a delicious salad and is an Irish hug in a bowl - warm mashed potatoes, flavorful ground beef, and fresh vegetables. For dessert we each tried the lava cake served with vanilla ice cream which was the perfect way to end the meal. After the game we toured their private space upstairs that is available for parties. Awesome bar. It's a chill environment. It makes me feel like I was in the heart of Dublin. The owner is really cool, friendly and knowledgeable about bars and restaurant throughout the city. I never made it upstairs- I'll comeback another time for that. The restaurant and bathroom are immaculately clean. As for the food...it's delicious. I was surprise... I came here yesterday with my girlfriend for a quick drink so this review is only about the drinks that we both had and the service that was provided. I came here on a Thursday night and it was decently crowded. From the looks of it, the upstairs area had party/work event while the down stairs had some people who were having dinner or casually grabbing a few drinks. Love the dark ambiance of the place as it makes you feel quite intimate. We sat upstairs and had a lovely server who checked up on us constantly and got us everything we needed in a timely fashion. Thank god we didn't have to order food since that has been lifted, but some of the other bars still require this. This was an exception and thank goodness because I really didn't want to tack on another food item to the bill where I would not have finished. I loved how attentive she was even though it was quite busy so service 5/5. For drinks I had a Founders IPA and my girlfriend had a glass of wine. Her glass of wine was fine, but my beer was not very good. It tasted like it had been watered down since it was on draft and got me a little suspicious. Overall I loved the ambiance of the place (5/5) the service that was received (5/5). I did not expect my beer to taste watery so that was a disappointment hence the 4/5 review. The only downside is lack of space for a somewhat big crowd, it was not easy to sit 5 people last time, but the rest of experience is pleasant.
