The sauce made it soggy. It is not hot from the way it sounds. Lamb chops was super delicious and the champagne glaze makes it! Went to Dray Bar today, for a Valentines day lunch. I've always had a great experience at Dray Bar & Grill until today. We arrived at 12:30pm and upon being seated and attended to by our waitress i inquired about their bottomless mimosas, and was immediately told since it was Saturday those were not available. A group of 4 was seated nearby and inquired about the same bottomless mimosa and we're promptly served. Now im sitting here thinking why would my waitress tell me one thing and these ladies got served exactly what I was denied. I asked the waitress why, obviously I was offended and discriminated against. I let my waitress know own of my displeasure albeit I never raised my voice or caused a scene. What rubbed me extremely the wrong way was the "replacement" waiter (due to now my initial waitress bring upset about the issue) trying to tell me that the "ladies" at the table had an arrangement with the bartender...iies, pure lies. So the establishment now has, in my eyes established "exceptions"...was it the color of my skin? All this to say that the "correct" thing for them to do was to bring me the bottomless mimosas that has caused this patrons upset. The owner came to my table to explain my waitress was unaware the drink I was qanting was offered on Saturday. I call bull....this "owner" could have brought my champagne and juice of choice to make amends when coming to my table instead of asking me what could he do. All this to question, was it a training issue, a mismanagement issue or an "indirect" discrimination issue...because that's how I felt and no matter what they all said the damage was done. I'm afraid I would never be able to return here and enjoy their delicious au poivre fries because of this incident. Really wanted to love this place, it's close by and easy to get to. Our service was good and so was our meal. I ordered the crab cakes as my main and couldn't finish it and asked to have the last crab cake boxed up to go. Again our service was good and we left. The next morning I wanted to have my last crab cake and found this! They must be very hungry working in the kitchen, I hoped whoever enjoyed the bites out of my crab cake! I came in with a group six that included 2 young kids. We were warmly greeted by everyone. Our waitress was exceptional! (I unfortunately don't remember her name.) All of our drinks and bar items arrived at quickly. I had the drink special which was delicious and only $5. We ordered the roasted olives as our appetizer. For dinner I tried the iceberg lettuce with the medium cooked salmon which was phenomenal. Everyone enjoyed their dinner choices and the kids loved the kids menu ideas. BEWARE When Booking Large Parties! If you plan to reserve the private room, ensure you have written confirmation and be prepared to leave if the venue double-books your event. Verbal confirmation--whether in person or over the phone--is not sufficient. Our group reserved a private room for a party of 30 following two in-person meetings and a tour with the staff. It was clearly communicated that the reservation was for the private room and confirmation of no additional charges for its use was given. We received two confirmation calls prior to the event. This reservation was for a branch reveal night, an important occasion for ROTC cadets preparing to commission as military officers. A space suitable for a presentation was essential, and this requirement was discussed with staff before booking. Upon arrival, we discovered we had been placed in the main dining area. Another party had previously booked the private room, despite our understanding that it was reserved for us. After approximately 20 minutes of discussion regarding options for conducting the branch reveal in a quieter setting, the on-duty manager provided an acceptable alternative. We were assured that two appetizers per table would be offered as a courtesy for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, upon reviewing the bill the following day, I found we had been charged for these "complimentary" appetizers. I returned to the restaurant to resolve the issue. Initially, I was offered gift cards, which was not an appropriate solution for a work event charged to a corporate card. Ultimately, the General Manager, Ian, refunded the charges and offered his sincere apologies. However, given the disruption and the need to return to correct the error, an apology alone was insufficient. Regarding the food: We selected a limited menu to accommodate the staff and kitchen. Guests who ordered the steak were satisfied. The chicken, however, was mediocre--while the accompanying risotto was excellent, the chicken lacked seasoning. Although I have enjoyed many positive experiences at this restaurant on a smaller scale, this incident has overshadowed those previous visits. read more

The staff was perfectly friendly but clearly did not know how to handle having customers with a baby(8 month old). We were seated in the middle of the restaurant crowded in by tables so that the highchair barely fit even though they were not busy & there were tables with much more room available. We had to squeeze our stroller through the restaurant after mentioning that we didn't mind leaving it somewhere out of the way & ended up finding a spot for it on our own. When I asked for a plastic/to-go cup to give my kiddo some water (I forgot her cup at home) the chef had to come out & ask for clarification as to what I wanted and why which was bizarre. My husband loved his food (chicken & biscuits) but to be honest the Ruff Start scrambled egg bowl tasted like it had cheese sauce from the skating rink dumped on top of it. A beautiful campus that allows one to revel within its well preserved architecture while enjoying its serene landscape. The first time I came here the food was amazing! I decided to bring my mom back for Mother's Day because of how amazing it was, but I was quickly proven wrong. Though we were seated quickly, we had to beg our server to come to our table. My mother asked for extra dressing on her salad and then received a Caesar salad without dressing or balsamic at all. The chicken on her salad did not appear completely cooked. To get her food item fixed she had to take the salad to the waiter herself because we never saw our waiter. Once the food was fixed, it was okay. The entire experience was nothing like our first and I was embarrassed that I had recommend this place to celebrate Mother's Day with her. read more

My boyfriend saw the dog logo which looks just like our bull terrier so we stopped in and we are so happy we did, Drinks and bartender were excellent, Kathy, let us try 2 of her cocktails she is working on for the new menu a coffee bourbon cocktail and a riff on a Manhattan and they were both delicious, my man got Nashville hot chicken Sammy and I got the Philly and they were both outstanding! Stopped here based on bringfido. I have a small yorkie and we were driving through from Tennessee. One of the best places to eat, true southern comfort food, drinks were well made, hospitality is top notch, our server Taylor was awesome, loved her. Outdoor patio was great, pet friendly, bathroom was clean and well maintained. I wish we have something like this in Connecticut. People were nice, we had a nice chat with patrons because of our dog, very friendly atmosphere and food was made with care. Crispy brussel sprouts and lollipop kale was delicious and my chicken fried steak was perfectly cooked, crispy and flavorful and had the sweater weather cocktail, yum!! ! Had a reservation at 1:15, they told us they didn't have any tables available even though we arrived right on time. We said any spot inside or outside was fine, and so they seated us at 1:30. We got our order taken at like 1:45 and then it became a waiting game. More customers came in and got their food before us. We waited a whole hour for our table even though we saw others get theirs first. You can see in the photos we waited so long we went through all of our mock tails, 4 mimosas, and even had to call the waiter over for refills. Of course, it's not her fault if they're busy but it almost felt like we were not prioritized in comparison to the other tables that were seated after us. We came for brunch, which ended at 2:30, but we weren't even served til almost 3 PM. It's baffling. I don't want to accuse but it's looking pretty clear as to why we were served so poorly (we were the only non-wh!te table there). Overall, the food wasn't even worth the wait. Sure, it was alright but the biscuit dough came undercooked in my friend's order. Next time I want a salmon benedict, M0n Am1e will be the first option. Food was a 6/10, service was 4/10. read more

This place was beautiful and had a very elegant aesthetic. I was surprised to see it a little empty when we were there around 3-5 pm on a Friday before Valentine's day. This was our first time here and I was very pleased. For an "appetizer" we got the drayter tots - they were delicious and not loaded as some usual restaurants do them. very crispy and not too salty. For entrees we got philly cheese steak and a cobb salad with chicken. The salad was absolutely great with the lovely vinaigrette. The philly cheesesteak was a good portion and delicious. My favorite part was the dessert - molten chocolate cake. It was very airy and moist and just the right amount of chocolate inside. For Valentine's day they had a pretty presentation. Overall I will definitely be back the staff was friendly and attended very quickly to us. It is a little pricey but it is definitely worth it! read more

I really want to like this place. had a great first experience, but since then nothing but terrible. Sit at the bar to have a few beers and something to eat, but the bartenders constantly ignore me. Seems they (Kaitie & Cam) are very selective on who they pay attention to. Well, no more. Tonight was the last straw. My food order was way off the mark. Plus I got sick of being ignored. I like Dray. It has a limited lunch menu, but what they do offer (appetizers, salads and sandwiches) is very tasty for sure. We have been for lunch twice. There is good value for your dining dollar. Service from Danny was excellent. She offered us teas to go before we asked for it, the sign of a good server. The iced tea is excellent and priced right at $2.50. When you order a sandwich, it comes with house made kettle chips. I'm sure they're great but why not offer slaw or something else as well? You can upcharge to a side salad for $3 or a cup of soup for $2. I love how the tables are separated here. Good privacy. And with coronavirus in the air, it's a good place to eat and not feel like you're on top of other diners. You can't be too careful! read more

The service at the table was very good and the drinks and dessert were a great highlight. FIRST REVIEW Service was great and drinks were good Twilight BCBS zone.....Arrived at 8:43PM to a half empty restaurant. The hostess told us it was over an hour and a half wait. She said they were busy. Let's see, 4 people at the bar, NO one waiting to be seated and an empty or mostly empty restaurant. It appears the declining service of the Standard has carried over to the restaurant. I hope the service is not an indication of the quality and selection of food. I normally hate to give a review like this but we were just turned away with no explanation leaving me to conclude they are already having problem. read more

I had the pleasure of eating at this restaurant for the first time tonight. The atmosphere goes against what you would traditionally think the name represents. It's more classy than a bar feel, and was quite elegant. You could tell the chef REALLY cares about the food that comes out of the kitchen. Each item was well cooked and presented. I had the burger with Brie, and the tiramisu dessert. My husband had the champagne shrimp, and I was able to taste my mothers dessert of praline bread pudding. The burger was VERY tender, and it worked well with the melted Brie. The champagne shrimp is literally the star of this restaurant. I've never in my life had a better shrimp pasta dish, and I wish I had ordered one as well. The sauce was everything in this dish. It was flavorful and the end taste of lemon really set it a notch above all other pasta sauces. The tiramisu was light and what you expect from a tiramisu. The praline bread pudding was incredible. It was rich, warm, and felt like grandmas hugs topped with ice cream. I loved that dessert and would recommend it to anyone with a sweet tooth. Overall I was really impressed and this restaurant is truly a hidden gem in Spartanburg. read more
