Wanted to love this place. Great experience the first time I went. Thats my picture of the charcuterie at the top of this page. But the 2nd time I went the noodles in the pasta were crunchy (either undercooked or sat out too long). Whatever thats fine I let it slide. Everyone has a bad night. Went for the 3rd time last night. Asked the waitress what their house cab was. She didnt know. So yall charge $25-30+ a plate and dont train your servers? Got the champagne shrimp (3rd time). The "sauce" was watery. Absolutely no flavor. Noodles in water with a touch of cream. Consistency is an absolute must. Yes, its a pandemic and we have to be understanding. I was a waitress for 10 years at a nice restaurant in Spartanburg so I know better than anyone. But people also have to understand that my money is precious during these difficult times too. And spending $23+ on a plate of mediocre (at best) food just isn't working for me. Both my parents' food was room temperature also. this place has a weird vibe. there was a person playing live piano music, candles on all the tables, large purple curtains separating the bar area (where they were playing sports on TV) from the seating area, and the employees are in t-shirts and shorts. several were walking around wearing headphones. if you're looking to eat a $20 salad with a side of hearing someone's earbud music over the mediocre piano, this might be the place for you! service was fine. the food was ok. salad was a bit soggy and completely drenched in dressing... portions seemed pretty large. the appetizer was probably the best part. overall it was pretty underwhelming considering the overall price of everything. i don't know that i'd plan to go back for dinner, but the outdoor seating area seems like a nice place to sit for drinks. read more

Start to finish the most disappointing meal I've had in Spartanburg. We arrived and there was no hostess. After several awkward minutes the bartender came over and got us to a table. We were seated outside without silverware and it then took an additional 15 minutes to get waters. The table behind us was not bussed for 35 minutes so I'm staring at half eaten food while trying to look at my husband. Our appetizer arrived room temperature and still with no silverware in sight. I eventually had to walk inside and flag someone down to then wait another few minutes for silverware. The cauliflower was fine but not memorable, especially cold. Eventually our entrees arrived. My husbands filet mignon was acceptable. Not exceptional but acceptable. We got a side of fries that came cold and soggy without ketchup...yet another 10 minutes to try and flag someone down. The true loser of the night was the eggplant dish. It was swimming in oil and each piece of eggplant pool more oil when touched. I ate one piece, which tasted like licking a grill while coating your mouth in oil. Truly inedible and hard to imagine how anyone could send it out thinking that was a nearly $20 entree. Our waitress saw my completely untouched meal minus one piece, didn't say a word, did offer to box it, and just asked it we wanted dessert. We were over the experience and asked for the chocolate cake to go. After waiting and waiting the wrong dessert was brought out. More waiting and we finally paid $100 for a single appetizer, two entrees, one dessert, and bolted for the car. The attached picture was the $8.75 molten chocolate cake with berries. After a long COVID year we were so excited to celebrate our anniversary and eat out. With the exception of a kind bartender it was an awful experience start to end. My husband is a soft spoken person who just wanted to leave but for the first time in my life I was tempted to ask for a manager. I will never be back and cannot in good faith recommend it to anyone else. There seems to be a lack of staff training from front to back and no pride in the quality of food sent out. Very disappointing for a local Spartanburg restaurant. I expect better read more

It was possibly the worst cheesesteak I've ever eaten. Very little, if any cheese, no green peppers, no mushrooms. The name is pretty misleading. It was not a bar and grill, as we expected. It was lots of tables. Very few booths. Cloth napkins. Fine China. The atmosphere was supper quiet until a pianist began to play. We actually felt like we needed to whisper even though the place was nearly empty. Not at all the atmosphere that we expected from the name. The service was great. No complaints there at all. The food was just okay. The salads that we ordered with our entree didn't have freshly grated cheese. It was pre-shredded, flour coated cheese from a bag, which was disappointing. The Thousand Island dressing was actually a vinaigrette. It tasted like straight apple cider vinegar. It was not creamy. It didn't have pickles or any spices that you would expect in Thousand Island. We asked for Ranch instead and it was nothing special. I would be surprised if it was house made. I had the Beef Bulgogi entree. The sauce was very heavy and sweet. It was a dish that you could eat but just a few bites because it was so sweet, like a really thick, sweet barbecue sauce. It would have been nice to have some bread with the meal to cut the sweetness. The charcuterie board appetizer was very nice. If you're looking for bar and grill food or the atmosphere of a bar and grill, this isn't it. Other than the one burger on the menu, I'm not sure if anything was actually grilled. Ordered 2 kids tenders and fries. Fries are $1 extra. Sad. Ok. Also ordered All American burger well done with fries. Asked for extra mayo and ketchups on the side. 3 soft drinks. After 5 minutes was brought a side of mayo. Had to ask for drinks. Food comes later. Fries burned. Was given a different kind of burger than All American- had tons of bacon on top. Burger was rare-the meat inside was still cool. Sent it back. Burger comes back with a pink line in the middle. Server stops by to ask if everything is ok. I say not really because there is still pink inside but I'm hungry. She comes back later and tells me the chef said it was the correct temperature for well done. We went to this establishment today, for brunch, in a celebration of family member's who recently tied the knot. I want to preface my review by saying, we understand that the food service industry is suffering during these unprecedented times. Although, this is no excuse, there is also no excuse for how our experience was today. Our food was subpar. I ordered the Crab Cake Benedict that came out cold as ever and appeared to have been sitting out for a while. It didn't come with the lobster hollandaise as advertised. When I asked the waitress for the lobster hollandaise, she informed me that they provided me with the only hollandaise that they had. She went back to the kitchen to ask the chef about the LOBSTER hollandaise and came back out with the same hollandaise and a bacon hollandaise. She then stated that the one hollandaise was lobster when clearly it was not. My husband's burger came with this same hollandaise and I can assure you there was not an inkling of lobster in the sauce. The crab cakes were full of breading and dry. The home styled potatoes, that our meals were supposed to come with, were no where insight. Instead, they provided us with tater tots that appeared to have been sitting out for a while. When asked about this, staff advised that they ran out of the home styled potatoes and instead gave us tater tots. Not one time did anyone ask if this was ok or if we would like something else. They basically just gave us what they wanted us to have. Our reservation was for 1:45 and we arrived at approximately 1:20. We learned that Brunch was over at 2:00. This is no excuse for the poor food quality and service. The food looked and tasted like the end of the day. No reservation should be taken for 15 minutes before the end of a brunch hour if the kitchen can't produce high quality food. The manager was nice and tried to explain and we appreciated that. We always have a great experience here. The servers are fast and friendly the host staff is welcoming and accommodating. There was a piano player last night who was very enjoyable and live music seems to give the place a great vibe. We spit a salad and Sandwich and both were delicious. It was a little pricey for a salad and sandwich (about $55 with tip) but I think that is more inflation kicking in than The Dray. In all great experience. read more

Went here with friends for Restaurant Week. Atmosphere very open and inviting. Music a little loud for dining but probably right for the bar. Ordered Country Fried Steak with gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans. Not a pretty plate but everything was seasoned beautifully and was delicious. What a wonderful gem this place is to Spartanburg! Highly recommend it. The moment we entered, we were greeted by several staff members. The atmosphere is amazing & inviting. Great vibe throughout the place. Very comfortable seating. We are vegetarians and had ample selections to choose from. Our waitress Grace was incredibly helpful from wine selections to her knowledge about the menu. We met the manager Joel, who brought us wine and took time out to provide some wonderful historical information about what Dray used to be. Loved the live music. We ate waaaaaaaay too much great food - appetizer, entree & dessert. All of it was top notch. Can't wait to go back again and try other foods and drink. Overpriced and unremarkable. Had a $13 salad that was very, VERY small. Decent tasting but nothing to marvel over. Also shared a crab cake dish. Crab cake was good, rest of plate was very "meh". Beer and wine lists are just ok. Beers are local - like really local. So you better like REALLY crafty beer. Like the "it's not really GOOD beer, but it's made close by" kinda beer. Service was really not good. Weird combination of hovering but not getting the basics done- like I was asked every two minutes how is the dish etc but took 10 minutes to refill water after it was brought up. Overall...definitely no rush to return. I'd go back if someone else wanted to go there but would not choose it myself for sure! read more

I wish I could leave a zero star review. This place was horrible from the get-go. We made a reservation for brunch two weeks before, and the day of we called if we could be seated outside. The girl who answered the phone was very nice and pleasant. She said there was plenty of seating outside for our reservation at 1:00 pm and we could bring our puppy with us. When we arrived and checked in with the hostess, she rudely told us that we could not sit outside. She told my family that it was not going to happen regardless of our reservation that we made weeks ago. I had to drive home to drop the puppy off and leave her by herself. We waited 15 minutes to be seated and got to our table after 1:10 pm. Our waitress was so kind and made sure we always had full drinks. We ordered within 20 minutes of being seated. While we waited for food, people were being seated and ordered food after us but we still never received our meals. After an hour of waiting we asked the manager to check on our food. He went to the back and never came back. A hour and a half later, we finally decided to leave. Hostess and management need A LOT of work. Cannot even judge the food... read more

This is one of my favorite nice sit down restaurants in Spartanburg. I love the atmosphere of this place and the food is delicious. I've tried their crab cakes and they are really good. My favorite appetizer is the Brussels and kale lollipops! I have to get it every time I go! I will say that I'm not a fan of the chips, upgrading to the fries would be well worth it. Went to lunch there this week for the first time. Had grilled eggplant and a whiskey sour. Best whiskey sour I've ever tasted. Had the chilly mouth feel and texture of a slushee without the slush.
