NIGHTMARE experience with Dream Come True K9. After sending my dog away fore a board and train program, my dog still had all of the same issues we sent him away with. None of our concerns we described in the intake form about our dog's behavior changed once we got him back into our home. My dog kept biting and displaying other bad behaviors and it seems noone at the company cared to continue to help us since there was no longer any money left in it for them. We want to give a massive THANK YOU to Blake and Zach for helping our dog, Ella, to become an amazing dog to have around. My wife and I began working with Blake 4 years ago when we rescued our dog, at about 16 weeks old. He instilled some great habits in us as the owners and in Ella as a new puppy. As time went on, and with changes in life circumstances, it became clear to us that Ella needed a boot camp of sorts to turn back into her fun, goofy, relaxed self. We made the decision to send Ella to the 6 week board and train program. Blake and Zach took amazing care of her and gave her the structure and confidence that she needed. It's almost hard to believe, as if it was magic... but by day 1 while we watched Ella and her pack of dog buddies via Instagram updates, we already started to see positive changes in her behavior. We loved following along virtually (huge shout out to the team for doing such a great job of always posting updates) and we lit up with excitement every time we saw Ella learning and opening up. We joked with Blake when we dropped off Ella about how she was terrified of the water and all the money would be worth it if he could get her into the pool. Fast forward about 4 weeks, and we see Ella jumping into the pool with Blake to swim a lap. Our jaws were on the floor! This example just speaks to the level of change, and ease of anxiety, that Blake and Zach were able to achieve during the program. We were lucky enough to travel down to FL from NY to do a visit with Ella well into her time in the program. Watching her interact with other dogs and seeing the clear method of communication between her and Blake, which allowed her to take direction very easily, instilled the confidence in ourselves that we needed to continue helping Ella be her best self. As I write this, we are about 1 week post finishing the program and there are noticeable, dramatic differences in her behavior and ability to take direction. We were able to utilize that clear communication method that I mentioned earlier to easily translate to our relationships with her. To illustrate just one example, Ella used to greet people excitedly at the door with jumping, licking, and the occasional play nipping. She would get so wound up with joy (it's cute when they are puppies... but not so cute when they are 50 lb Pit Lab mixes!) that it was hard to get her to stop that behavior once it started. Within her first week back home, Ella did jump up on one of our friends who came over, but the difference was, with ONE correction she stopped in her tracks and it didn't happen again. She understood that the behavior just wasn't "what we do here anymore" and was able to move on without feeling like she was in trouble or being anxious that she had made a mistake. For us, this tremendous progress is something we feel great about and reinforces our confidence in the reason we entrusted Blake and his team to help not only Ella, but us as her owners! Ella has the tools she needs to be the dog we want her to be and the dog we know that she wants to be. We have the tools we need to have to be the owners we want to be, and continue to be incredibly proud of her. I signed up for 2 sessions (virtual + in person) and worked with both Blake and Carla. Carla was part of my in-person dog training and it was such a valuable experience. Thank you thank you Team Dream Come True K9!! Our dog Penny recently did the 6 week board and train and we just had our In Home Session with Carla this past weekend. Penny is super anxious, super pushy, super reactive, etc, etc. When we dropped her off, we ran into Blake who listened to what our concerns were and asked lots of questions. Then we primarily worked with Carla who did the same. They didn't make assumptions and, while I know we were making mistakes in Penny's training, they didn't make judgments. I can't say enough positive things about the team and our results. Even while Penny was away, they posted about her on their stories almost daily so we could keep up with her progress. Everyone was also super responsive when I sent in emails with questions, which was great. We picked her up and had a great take-home session where all of our questions were answered. Carla was super patient and willing to explain things in ways that we were able to understand. PLUS she even did our at-home session on one of her days off. This is the best place to train your dog in the city! We live right down the street so we would see Blake walking his dogs and training dogs way before we even considered getting a dog. He does this with such easy and really understands dog psychology. Once I got a dog, I was very picky with a trainer because I wanted to find someone that truly understood my needs/ wants for my dog, as well as my dog's boundaries. Blake is great. I wish I could give DCTK9 10 stars. I truly cannot say enough good things about the trainers there and the work they do. I brought my dog to them with serious fear-based aggression/reactivity, severe separation anxiety, general lack of obedience, and a history of bite incidents. I was at the end of my rope, and wasn't sure if I would be able to provide a safe home for my dog & meet his needs any longer. Enter DCTK9 (Sofia and Enola, in particular)! I can't recommend Dream Come True K9 enough! I can't thank them enough either. It's a really wonderful, beautiful thing they're doing, and it's immediately obvious that they love what they do, and the dogs they get to work with. My dog, Dingo, just spent 6 weeks with Dream Come True K9 as a board and train. He was there for aggression issues (humans, leash, occasionally other dogs). Despite his small size, it was actually pretty scary for the person on the receiving end. He didn't make many friends in my apartment building. Had he been a bigger dog we would probably have had more serious consequences for his behaviors. He would growl, bark, snap, and lunge at people. He's also managed a couple of bites. We could almost never walk by other dogs on leash without him at least getting huff. Off leash, if he decided there was a dog he didn't like than he was on the offensive towards that dog. His behaviors came from fear and nervousness, but they were still serious. Blake took his time and gained Dingo's trust. He and his team worked with Dingo and built up his confidence. I got to watch his progress through videos that were posted online. I saw Dingo gain confidence, become happier, and have fun with his training. He's only been home for a few days at this point, but the dog that came back with me is in a much better place than he was when I dropped him off. I'll have an in-home follow up soon, and if I have questions or concerns all I have to do is send an email. I wouldn't recommend anyone else, even if you're just looking for someone who teaches general obedience. There's no other place to go. read more

This place is the real deal. I had tried everything before coming to DKTK9 - I wish i had know about this place when my dog, Lando, started exhibiting bad behaviors. Lando (2yo Silkypoo - 15lbs) bit two of my neighbors in addition to biting me and my mom, he was also uncontrollable at the sight of another dog. He completed the 5 Week Board & Train Boot camp. While I wasn't able to see my dog during that time, the staff was very good about posting frequent photos/videos on Instagram. Lando came back a completely different dog. When I first picked him up I had a private training session which was followed up several weeks later with an in-home visit where additional corrections were made. He still gets a little anxious sometimes around other dogs, but DKTK9 gave Lando and me the tools we needed to control stressful situations. Now he is the most well behaved dog in the family. It's obvious that Blake, Lindsey, Andrew and the rest of the staff here really care about their work and want to see every dog succeed. They've become part of the family as I now use their services for dog walking and for boarding when I'm out of town. I would recommend their program to anyone whether you have a dog with behavior issues or a puppy that needs training. read more

Tonight my pit mix and I completed class three of five of our first training session. We're learning a new language to communicate with each other. He seems very happy to learn and is picking it up very quickly. I think I get more tired out than he does! I'm really happy I enrolled in the class. Blake is a great instructor. And his brother Andrew is also extremely detailed in his explanations. Both are very patient trainers (with me AND my dog). The facility is spotless and I love that there's a big picture window that looks out on to the street. So it feels very open. Great class. Can't wait to go back for more. Highly recommend. **** We finished the Group Foundation Class tonight! For the last class all the students and their owners (and the trainers and their dogs) went on a short pack walk. That way we could implement our new shared language under supervision--in the real world. Then we went back to the facility and the dogs went off leash. It was great to watch the trainers handle the dogs and keep them all peaceful and calm, while still letting them explore and enjoy each other. I really wish I'd come to K9 sooner. After you train with them, your dog is eligible for all kinds of cool services such as: *Supervised Pack Walks: For instant feedback/insights about how to react/correct in the moment) *Train and Play: A Deluxe version of doggie daycare where the dogs are inside, outside and socialized from 8am-8pm. *Saturday Socials: Bring your morning coffee and your pup socializes in their space undersupervision while you watch and learn from the trainers as they keep everybody in line. After working for several years with independent dog walkers, we finally found the right place. This true profesional, caring and loving team takes care of dogs like nobody else. We have been with them for about a year now and we love them. They take Rafa for long walks and are always on time. Communication is great with them at all times. So let's just say my dog has a bit of a fear issue...OK she's a big chicken and becomes a ravenous beast when she get's frightened by any kind of trigger sounds. I only use DCTK9 to walk my dog when I'm out on business and my furry child has to stay with my fiancé's best friend (Blake trained her dog and still walks him). All I can say is he is great with her and she is always happy, calm and content when she's returned to me. I've met Blake a few times and he's super knowledgable, easy to talk to and it great with all the dogs I see him with. Everything he's taught me has works like gangbusters so far. I don't know the details of the video episode, so I cannot comment on that, but I did want to post a review for Blake since we've had a wonderful experience with him in reference to our two difficult miniature dachshunds. My partner found Blake through the local dog run and had him do some work with our two doxies. Their behavior was definitely better after Blake worked with them and they are quite happy with him. He offered us many tips to help us improve their behavior further and though they will never be perfect, we are very grateful for the changes we did see. Since our brats are so comfortable with him, when we were attending an event in Florida that would keep us busy at festivities where dogs would not be welcomed, we boarded them with Blake. I was extremely nervous as these two are especially challenging, but Blake had them in line in no time. He updated us constantly and sent pictures and even a video he made of them playing. My mind at ease, I was able to enjoy the trip without constantly thinking about them. read more

Blake and the DCTK9 team are amazing. Truly masters of their craft. Our boy Bernie is A LOT of dog. We knew that raising a puppy would be a challenge, but we were completely unprepared for Bernie's particular temperament. He is a self-willed wild child, and while this can be endearing at times, it also was a major source of conflict and stress. To Bernie's detriment, I used Reddit and Positive Only training sources to try and train him, and inevitably this couldn't provide the structure and clear communication he needed. In the house, we couldn't sweep, vacuum, leave him unsupervised because he was constantly stealing things, jumping on furniture, and counter surfing. Outside was worse. He was uncontrollable on the leash, highly dog reactive, chewed through several leashes, and constantly redirected on the handler. He was completely unmanageable for us, and we were torn between finding him a new home or investing in a board and train program. We are so happy we found DCTK9. We can play with him for the first time with structure and rules, we can walk him, and live in the house peacefully. our lives have dramatically changed. And we are learning SO much about dog training. The walk is still a work in progress, but DCTK9 is incredibly supportive and remain an active part of his training journey. I can't tell you the relief of dropping him off at DCTK9 for Train and Play or boarding without fear that he'll regress in training or get kicked out (lol). They know him and what he needs, and that is the ultimate comfort. All the staff is so communicative and helpful, Blake, Carla, Nancy, Rob, Lindsey, and the whole team, y'all are the absolute best, and we couldn't do this without you! DCTK9 was a really terrific experience. Our dog Rocky spent seven weeks with them for a board and train, needing help with structure, routine, and obedience training, as well as needing help with his anxiety which would sometimes lead to possession and space aggression issues. He's been back home for almost two weeks now and the improvement is obvious! He follows his commands, has adjusted to his new home life schedule very well, is much less whiny and anxious throughout the day which has allowed by wife (who works from home) more peace while she works, his walks are more structured and his attention on them is better, he's off all his anxiety medications (which he had been prescribed prior to training) and now sleeps through the night without issues! I am SHOCKED there aren't more reviews on here for Blake and his team! After A LOT of research and searching around I decided on sending my German Shepard mix, Dylan, to DCTK9. This decision did not come lightly. I had tried different trainers to no avail (one was even holding Dylan when he bit my boyfriend), and Dylan's behavioral issues were becoming more and more pronounced. He went from only reacting to skateboarders to reacting to joggers, other dogs, people with canes, people with walkers, bikes, delivery guys, anyone with grocery bags, anyone who looked at him...you get the idea. Dylan's behavior got so bad I could only walk him very late at night and very early in the morning to avoid triggers and any potential for redirected aggression. It was even suggested that I "get rid of" him which broke my heart and I spent many sleepless nights anxious about what I could do. I knew his behavior had been able to escalate in part because of my cluelessness how to appropriately address it before it had a chance to become an issue. Que in DCTK9! They came highly recommended by different trainers along the east coast and were only a cab ride away! When I dropped Dylan off not once did I feel judged and Blake has an incredible energy that puts everyone, dogs and people alike, at ease. While Dylan was under their care I got to see videos and photos on Facebook and Instagram which was a great way to feel connected. I also obsessively watched their YouTube channel for tips for the future. When I went to pick Dylan up I was a nervous wreck wondering what I would do if this didn't work but sure enough there was my dog walking calmly (with me no less) down a New York City street! Walking by other dogs without so much as a blink! Blake even worked with me more so than Dylan on the skateboarder issue in Thomkin's Square Park with nothing short of the patience of a saint, reminding me to breath (which I wasn't) and to relax. The way he explained the issues Dylan had been having and how to address them were helpful and relatable. Over a month later I am beyond thrilled with the progress that Dylan has made and know that although there's still work to be done on my part just knowing we both are capable of living a fulfilling life together is worth its weight in gold. We've even gone by joggers without blinking! No lunging, biting, barking or anything! Blake understands dogs like no other. I've recommended him to many people, from friends to people I meet on the street. I volunteer on the committee at the local dog run and so spend a lot of time around dogs and dog experts. I can't think of anyone who matches Blake when it comes to working with dogs with trust, fear or aggression issues. I would be lying if I claimed my dog was a real problem animal, but she's very protective and dependent and so she is difficult with people she doesn't know or respect. If I'm not there to introduce you, forget it. So, not every dog walker is cut out for dealing with her. Blake was able to work with her and integrate her with the dogs he walks in very short order. In fact, she and one of the dogs in the group would always have words when we met in the street. Not anymore. He studies your dog and takes time to calculate what your dog needs. It's almost unbelievable at times to see how your dog reacts and behaves. Nor does he use a heavy hand. He earns your dog's respect through understanding and patience, and it shows. I have a 5-year-old rescue dog from Puerto Rico, Charlie. He is inherently a good dog but I struggled with him being innocently pushy. Then my friends told me about Dream Come True K9. I sent Charlie here for a 3-week Board & Train. And Charlie came back a different dog - same in personality but a complete 180 in terms of behavior. The training wasn't just isolated to the issues I had with Charlie but helped in shaping Charlie to be a well-rounded dog that respected and minded me & knew time and place. I was kept in the loop on how Charlie was doing through their active Instastories. Even the pick-up and handoff was so well thought-out and fostered the calmness they had instilled throughout the training. Charlie walks like a champ now; sure it's not perfect but a lot of it is on me to continue the training journey with Charlie. Trust me, DCTK9 gives you a HUGE head start and paves the way for a great, balanced, fun, respectful relationship with your dog. Love the whole team at DKT, and can't say enough good things about them! It is clear that all of them really understand dogs, and are willing to work through any issue, big or small, with both the dog and the owner (since often the latter is who requires more training!) We use them to walk our pup, who is less than happy when new people come into the apartment. Despite us being very nervous about having someone new getting him out of his crate, they made the whole process totally stress free and seamless. Our sessions with Blake have been great for helping us to understand how we can help our dog be the best version of himself, and he really breaks everything down so that you can actually implement the training advice. My senior (8/9 years old) Lhasa Mix just finished his 6 week board and train program and the behavioral changes are jaw dropping. My Bernie had a TON of leash reactivity and impulsivity issues. With the help of the team, I am able to now walk him on leash without issue.. but listen he's a dog, not a robot.. so nothing will ever be "perfect". Our dreams came true after Blake and the DCTK9 team trained our St. Bernard Ernie. Before going to the center Ernie suffered from anxiety and was aggressive toward strangers. It took Blake some work to convince us to leave Ernie at the center for 4 weeks but thankful everyday he did. I am pretty sure it was more challenging for Blake to train us than it was for him to train Ernie. The DCTK9 team has become like family to us. We use their dog walking services 5 days a week. As a dog trainer, he may be great with dogs.....BUT I rated 1 star because you should be very careful what you sign with him. I paid $600 for 1 training visit and follow up. I signed the contract not realizing that the video he made of me and my family was for him to exploit and edit as he wishes. I found myself on youtube being called stupid! Yes I was ignorant and needed help that is why I paid him and asked for help, BUT why allow your clients to be belittled for asking for help! My children wanted to be off the Internet BUT he said, NOPE you signed the consent! yeah I signed because I thought it would be video to show me and help my family (my children didn't sign) After being paid in full ( the follow up never happened) he said it was my fault, I said it is NOT anyway I will try to forget it! I don't know where to start.My dog finished the 5 weeks board & train program 2 weeks ago and I have to say this has been one of the best decisions of my life. My dog was super possessive of me with other dogs and humans. He also hated taking directions (in other words, he did not take me seriously) or going for long walks.He was also on prozac for his anxious state. With the training and the tools, he is a far more relaxed dog and I am a more self-assured dog-owner. I can now enjoy having guests over and deliveries at my door (as opposed to greeting everyone outside the house) and my dog is no longer on any anxiety meds. It was amazing to see for myself the concrete results Blake and his team are able to obtain with any dog. Having been through at least 5 different trainers until now, I had lost any hope to see any changes in my dog's behavior, so this was my last chance and I am SO glad I took it...But be aware, once the on-site training is over, that's when your work as a responsible owner starts and you have to be willing to continue to work with your dog everyday and follow-up DCTK9's rules that may apply to your case.
